Joe Pavelski Has Great Week

Monday, March 31, 2014

Some musings as this is the last power play column of the season.

It’s amazing that the Boston Bruins are third in proficiency but tied for 16th in goals as they have the least amount of power play chances in the NHL.

The Washington power play has taken over this past week as the best, from the Penguins. Nicklas Backstrom leads all players with 42 power play points.

Teammate Alex Ovechkin leads in power play goals with 22. Only 57 NHL players have scored more than 22 goals this season.

Keith Yandle is one of only six players to get 30 power play points and is the only defenseman to do so.

The Florida power play was terrible this season with only 25 goals, three more than Ovechkin.

San Jose led in shots on goal with 468 while New Jersey brought up the rear with 276.
