Crosby gets his 1000th point

Friday, February 17, 2017

Just a little over a month after Alex Ovechkin reached the 1,000-point mark, the other big superstar from the 2005-06 rookie class joined him.  Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists last night, pushing him up to 1,002 points in total.  He's the 86th player to ever reach that mark and one of eighth active players in that club.

He's also likely the last player to join that list in 2016-17 after Ovechkin and Henrik Sedin also reached that milestone this season.  The next closest in Daniel Sedin, but he's still 26 points away and would have to finish strong to close that gap.  After him, . Shane Doan is 36 points shy and might never make it there given that it's entirely possible that the 40-year-old will hang up his skates this summer.  Those are the only two even close given that Henrik Zetterberg is the next highest with 877 career points.
