Week of Nov. 5-11

Great Options

Sergei Bobrovsky-Columbus Blue Jackets

Schedule: Mon at NYR, Tue vs. NSH, Fri vs. CAR, Sat at DET

Bobrovksy has given up three goals in each of his last two starts, but he’s also won four consecutive outings. He’ll enter this weekend’s action with an 8-2-0 record, a 2.07 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage. There’s no doubt that he’ll continue to be a strong fantasy option heading into the week.

Mike Smith-Calgary Flames

Schedule: Sun vs. NJ, Tue vs. VAN, Thu vs. DET

Smith has a 7-5-0 record with a 2.19 goals-against-average and a .936 save percentage in his first season with the Flames. He’s given up two goals or less in six of his last seven outings, which is pretty impressive. With three home games on the schedule, Smith should be a rock-solid fantasy play.

Jake Allen-St. Louis Blues

Schedule: Tue at NJ, Thu vs. ARZ, Sat vs. NYI

Allen has won three of his last four contests and he’s given up just six goals during that stretch. The Blues goalie has a 7-3-1 record with a 2.34 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage this season. He should be able to continue rolling starting on Tuesday night.

Braden Holtby-Washington Capitals

Schedule: Mon vs. ARZ, Tue at BUF, Fri vs. PIT, Sun vs. EDM

The Capitals haven’t been as dominant as in years past, but Holtby remains one of the elite goalies in the league. He should be able to have a solid week, as his team will take on the struggling Coyotes, Sabres and Oilers. Expect Holtby to play three of his team’s four games this week. He has  a 9-3-0 record with a 2.79 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage.

Good Options

Connor Hellebuyck-Winnipeg Jets

Schedule: Mon at DAL, Fri at VGK, Sat at ARZ

The schedule isn’t ideal for the Jets next week because they’ll play three games on the road. Still, we can’t ignore the Jets goalie’s performances lately. He has a 7-0-1 record with a 1.92 goals-against-average and a .938 save percentage. He’s given up two goals or less in four consecutive games.

Corey Crawford-Chicago Blackhawks

Schedule: Sun vs. MTL, Thu at PHI, Sat at CAR

Crawford’s dropped two of his last three games, but his individual stats remain high. He has a modest 6-4-0 record with a 1.92 goals-against-average and a .941 save percentage this season. The ‘Hawks have had a hard time finding the back of the net lately, but that should change in the near future. Crawford should be able to bounce back this week.

Cory Schneider-New Jersey Devils

Schedule: Sun at CGY, Tue vs. STL, Thu vs. EDM, Sat vs. FLA

The Devils have been one of the more pleasant surprises of the 2017-18 season and Schneider is a big reason for that. He’s coming off an ugly loss to Edmonton, but he’s still won two of his last three games since returning from an injury. Schneider has a 6-2-0 record with a 3.09 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.

Frederik Andersen-Toronto Maple Leafs

Schedule: Mon vs. VGK, Wed vs. MIN, Fri vs. BOS, Sat at BOS

Andersen has won seven of 12 games this season, but his individual stats have been less than spectacular. Luckily, he has a good team playing in front of him and he has three games at home this week. He has a 3.26 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage. His numbers will climb as the season goes on.

Bad Options

James Reimer-Florida Panthers

Schedule: Tue at CAR, Fri at BUF, Sat at NJ

Earlier this week, Panthers head coach Bob Boughner admitted that Reimer just hasn’t done enough lately. He has a 3-5-1 record with a 4.00 goals-against-average and a .890 save percentage this season. He simply can’t be trusted in fantasy right now.

Maxime Lagace-Vegas Golden Knights

Schedule: Mon at TOR, Tue at MTL, Fri vs. WPG

Lagace is the fourth different starting goaltender for the Golden Knights. And although the other three did well, Lagace isn’t really ready for the NHL just yet. He has a 0-3-0 record with a 4.59 goals-against-average and a .855 save percentage. The Knights are a great story, but there’s no way they’ll be able to keep winning with him between the pipes.

Scott Darling-Carolina Hurrincanes

Schedule: Tue vs. FLA, Fri at CBJ, Sat vs. CHI

Darling was one of Carolina’s major acquisitions during the offseason, but he hasn’t panned out the way they had hoped. He’s started the majority of his team’s games, but he’s been on the bench for two of the last three. He has a 3-3-2 record with a 2.70 goals-against-average and a .897 save percentage this season.

Semyon Varlamov-Colorado Avalanche

Schedule: Fri vs. OTT, Sat at OTT

The Avalanche and Senators are heading to Sweden to take part in the SAP NHL Global Series. These are the only two games they’ll play this week, so Varlamov’s fantasy upside, which was already very limited, is now even more insignificant. He has a 5-3-0 record with a 3.01 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.
