| | Trent Edwards finished 13-of-17 for 153 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals in Saturday's preseason game. | | Edwards went three-and-out on the first series before leading an 8-play, 57-yard touchdown drive on the second series. He favored Roscoe Parrish Saturday to the tune of four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown while Lee Evans was held to just one catch for eight yards. |

| | Ryan Fitzpatrick will not play in tonight's preseason finale against the Lions. | | Trent Edwards is going to start the game, Brian Brohm will get about two quarters and Levi Brown will wrap it up. Fitzpatrick has apparently locked up the backup gig, so he doesn't have to fight it out tonight. Brohm is trying to hang on as the No. 3 quarterback. |

| | Brian Brohm's roster spot could be in trouble if the Bills decide not to try to pass rookie Levi Brown through waivers. | | This confirms that Brohm has lost out to Ryan Fitzpatrick for the backup job behind Trent Edwards. It's likely, though, that they will attempt to pass Brown through waivers and keep Brohm as the No. 3 quarterback. |

| | Coach Chan Gailey acknowledged Tuesday that Fred Jackson will be "limited early in the year" as he recovers from a fractured hand. | | Rookie C.J. Spiller deserves a significant role and Marshawn Lynch is back from an ankle sprain, so there's no reason to rush back Jackson. Our concern, however, is with the rising ADP of Spiller and the swift fall of Jackson's. Spiller is now consistently being drafted in the early fifth round, while Jackson is falling to the eighth and ninth. Jackson is the better bet for TDs, and may not finish with many fewer rushing yards despite the injury. |

| | Coach Chan Gailey said Monday that he's not yet ready to name C.J. Spiller the Bills' starting tailback. | | "We’ve got the luxury of three pretty good backs," said Gailey. "We’ll make that decision when we get closer there." Fred Jackson is the nominal starter, but he's not expected back for Week 1 due to a fractured hand. Marshawn Lynch (ankle) may play in the preseason finale. Starter or not, Spiller is a safe bet to lead Buffalo's backfield in touches during the opener and beyond. |

"He didn’t look like there were any residual effects so we're looking forward to seeing him Thursday night." Fred Jackson (hand) practiced Tuesday but will be held out of the finale. The Bills backfield looks to be back to full strength for the season opener. |

| | Joique Bell has his nose in front of Chad Simpson for the Bills' No. 4 running back job. | | Bell, a low-level prospect, has made waves by averaging 6.5 yards per carry on 22 preseason rushes against second- and third-stringers. The Bills could choose to go with just three tailbacks if they are comfortable with Fred Jackson's health, leaving both Bell and Simpson off the roster. |

The Chan Gailey regime clearly views Parrish as a difference maker in the passing game, and has given him every opportunity to succeed. For the first time in his career Parrish seems to playing up to his potential. While Parrish is not draftable outside of return yardage leagues, he's someone to keep an eye on mid-season. |

As recently as early August, the Bills were said to have "big plans" for Nelson. Stupar is likely to keep the job for the first month of the season, but Nelson should be starting again by the end of the season. It's a situation for fantasy leaguers to avoid. |

After completing 60.8 percent of his passes a year ago, the strong-armed Henne should have no trouble improving on that mark this year with Brandon Marshall in town. Consider Henne as your QB2 if you miss out on Ben Roethlisberger or Matthew Stafford. |

The Ohio State product will contribute more to the Dolphins than he will to fantasy teams. With Marshall hogging all the targets in this run-heavy offense, Hartline is merely a name to watch on waiver wires. |

Belichick isn't going to confirm it publicly, but we still wouldn't be surprised if Maroney is on the trade block. It seems unlikely that Maroney is going to be higher than third or fourth on the depth chart, and he doesn't contribute much on passing downs or special teams. |

Welker remains on track to start the season opener as the Patriots' slot receiver. |

Gronkowski has shown the past two weeks that both youngsters have promising futures. He dragged a defender into the end zone for a 14-yard score and came back with a 20-yard touchdown in the seam.
