Turkoglu leads Turkish team to quarterfinals
Hedo Turkoglu scored 20 points (including 4-of-7 from downtown) to lead the Turkish national team past France on Sunday.
The event is being held in Turkey, and the home court advantage could propel Hedo and co. into the medal rounds. They'll soon face stiffer competition than France, however, and they're bound to cool off against better defenses (overall, the Turkish team made 72% of their 2-pointers and 47% of their 3-pointers.).  Yi Jianlian's MRI comes back negative
Yi Jianlian recently had an MRI on his injured Achilles tendon, which came back negative.
The Achilles was "inflamed a little bit," according to China's coach, but Jianlian is expected to play vs. Lithuania on Tuesday. China advanced to the elimination round despite going 1-4 during group play. Sep. 5 - 10:27 am et

Kobe Bryant says his knee feels 'great'
Bryant
Kobe Bryant (knee) is "just about to start doing basketball workouts again," according to teammate Luke Walton.
Bryant said that his knee feels "great," and it seems like he'll be fine by the time training camp starts. He missed nine games last season, raising his modest total to 16 DNPs in the past five years. Sep. 4 - 10:58 am et

Nuggets shooting down trade offers for Melo
Anthony
The Nuggets have reportedly been flatly denying trade offers for Carmelo Anthony, as GM Masai Ujiri attempts to repair the team's relationship with their star.
Good luck. Denver is already having a clearance sale for J.R. Smith and they obviously don't want to be held hostage by Melo's apparent desire to leave (he still hasn't commented publicly). As noted by CBSSports.com, "If Anthony still hasn't signed his extension by the February trade deadline, all signs point to him being dealt to a team of his choice." Sep. 4 - 10:40 am et

Budinger out 4-6 weeks with ankle sprain
Rockets forward Chase Budinger will miss four to six weeks after suffering a substantial left ankle sprain on Thursday.
He should be ready for the start of the season, but the missed time in training camp isn't going to help. He's probably worth a late flier in deeper leagues, but is a borderline fantasy player in standard 12-team leagues. Sep. 3 - 2:50 pm et

Stephenson banned from Conseco Field House
Pacer rookie Lance Stephenson has been banned from working out at Conseco Field House facilities since his alleged involvement in an incident last month where he reportedly pushed his girlfriend down a flight of stairs.
He's been working out with assistant coaches at a different facility and undergoing counseling, but it's clear that Larry Bird is not happy. Stephenson has gone from a possible starter and fantasy sleeper to a third-stringer just hoping to still be with the team when the season starts. Sep. 3 - 1:30 pm et

Source: Knicks reject Randolph for Rudy swap
Fernandez
According to a team source, Knicks president Donnie Walsh recently rejected a three-team deal that would have sent Anthony Randolph to Indiana, the Pacers' first-round pick to Portland and Rudy Fernandez to New York.
The Blazers are insisting on a first-round pick for Fernandez and, due to trades, the Knicks do not have one of their own until 2014. The Knicks were trying to shop Wilson Chandler in an offer for Fernandez, but Portland doesn't seem interested. If New York really wants Rudy, they will have to get a third team involved -- one that has a desirable first round pick in Portland's eyes. It's pretty obvious that Fernandez has played his last game as a Blazer. Sep. 3 - 9:33 am et

USAB pulls away in second half for win
Gordon
The USA finally pulled away in the second half of their FIBA Championship game vs. Tunisia, winning by 35 points, 92-57.
After struggling to a smaller-than-expected six point halftime lead, the USA poured it on in the second half. Eric Gordon led the team with 21 points, including four threes. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were second on the team with 14 points each. The United States will begin the single-elimination round on Monday vs. Angola. Sep. 2 - 11:22 am et
Back to Boston: Celtics sign Delonte West
The Celtics have signed free agent guard Delonte West.
West averaged a career-high 12.3 points during his last season with Boston in 2006-07, but minutes will be more difficult to come by this time around and he's not likely to have significant fantasy value as a reserve. West is also suspended for the first 10 games of the season due to his arrest last year on weapons charges. Sep. 1 - 5:33 pm et
