Raiders agree with Asomugha on monster deal
Asomugha
Raiders agreed to terms with CB Nnamdi Asomugha on three-year, $45.3 million contract. The first two years are worth $28.5 million and are guaranteed.
Al Davis is not afraid to go big, and is quietly enjoying a nice off-season. Asomugha is the type of player you overpay; the best cornerback in the NFL squarely in his prime. He's worth extra to Oakland because of their man-to-man scheme. The per-year numbers set a benchmark for corners that won't be matched for awhile. See our contract details for more on Asomugha's record deal. Feb. 19 - 2:05 pm et

Cable: 'Real chance' Bush plays at Tennessee
Bush
Raiders coach Tom Cable confirmed Wednesday that Michael Bush (thumb) has a "real chance" to play in Week 1 at Tennessee.
Bush is practicing with few limitations, so it's not surprising that the likelihood of him suiting up has increased. Bush would likely have to carry the ball with only his right hand, however, as his dominant left hand will be wrapped in padding. The Titans' run defense is going to be above average this year, so we'd hold off on starting Bush or Darren McFadden in fantasy leagues. Sep. 8 - 6:25 pm et

Broncos RB Moreno returns to practice in full
Moreno
Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) fully participated in Broncos practice Wednesday.
As did Demaryius Thomas (foot). Moreno's return to 11-on-11s is promising, and he'll be a much more confident fantasy start if he works fully all week. Players coming off injuries like Moreno's often come up sore the day after a practice. Check back Thursday afternoon for another update. This week, Denver faces Jacksonville, which doesn't project to field a tough run defense. Sep. 8 - 6:02 pm et

Jones-Drew (knee) not on Week 1 injury report
Jones-Drew
Maurice Jones-Drew's name does not appear on the Jaguars' Week 1 injury report.
Those aware of the situation know MJD missed the last two exhibition games and numerous late-camp practices with a knee injury. At one point, a report even surfaced that he had surgery. The Jags, though, don't appear to be concerned, and Jones-Drew should certainly be in fantasy lineups against the Broncos. Owners would still be wise to hang tightly to Rashad Jennings.  Special Master set to rule on Vincent Jackson
Jackson
The NFL's Special Master is expected to rule "within a week or so" whether the Chargers can keep Vincent Jackson on the Roster Exempt list through Week 6.
Removal from the list would allow him to play in Week 4, increasing the odds he could be traded. The San Diego Union-Tribune confirms that V-Jax "is not going to be a Charger again," but interest around the league should heat back up if Jackson regains his eligibility sooner. If a trade does happen, the Chargers are reportedly vehement about sending V-Jax out of the AFC. Sep. 8 - 5:14 pm et

Beanie misses practice, but expected to play
Wells
Beanie Wells (knee) missed Cardinals practice on Wednesday.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt did say after the workout that he anticipates Wells playing Sunday at St. Louis. It's still a situation to monitor closely, as the matchup is highly enticing. Already the favorite for all work in passing situations and on the goal line, Tim Hightower would be a serviceable fill-in should Wells be a surprise scratch. Check back Thursday for an update.  Vilma listed as 'probable' for Thursday night
Vilma
Saints MLB Jonathan Vilma (groin) is listed as probable for Thursday night's opener versus Minnesota.
Tracy Porter has been slightly hobbled by a lower-body injury, but is listed as probable. The "P" tag means the team considers the players virtually certain to be available for normal duties. Vilma won't come off the field against the Vikings. Porter will be on Bernard Berrian for most of the night. Sep. 8 - 1:12 pm et

Coach Gailey confirms Spiller is his starter
Spiller
Coach Chan Gailey confirmed that C.J. Spiller will start against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Even if Fred Jackson (hand) is active, as expected, Spiller is going to be the focal point of this offense. Beat writer Allen Wilson expects the No. 9 overall pick to get "at least 20 touches" on offense, on top of his work on returns. Considering Spiller's game-breaking talent, he has the upside to put up monster numbers with this kind of workload. As Wilson says, Jackson and Lynch had "best prepare themselves for a lesser role on offense." Sep. 8 - 12:33 pm et

Slaton (turf toe) confirms he'll play Sunday
Slaton
Steve Slaton (turf toe) confirmed that he practiced on Monday and will play against the Colts on Sunday.
Slaton will be a full-go for third-down duties and a "change-of-pace" role behind Arian Foster. We're only expecting a fistful of touches, making the former starter a very weak fantasy option, even in PPR formats. Slaton did nothing to earn more ball-carrying chances in the preseason, averaging 2.76 yards per carry. Foster will handle all early-down and goal-line work. Sep. 8 - 11:43 am et

Report: Talks between Brady, Pats escalating
Brady
After talks escalated Tuesday, ESPN is now confirming a Boston Herald report that Tom Brady is close to signing a contract extension with the Patriots.
ESPN's sources initially called the Herald's report "wrong" and "inaccurate," but Adam Schefter conceded that reporter Ron Borges was "onto something." Per Schefter, the deal "gaining momentum" is expected to be a four-year extension, which is the same length as his previous two extensions. The new contract could be in place before the start of the regular season, giving Brady $18-20 million annually. Sep. 7 - 6:33 pm et
