Rams acquire Laurent Robinson from Falcons
Robinson
Rams acquired WR Laurent Robinson from the Falcons in exchange for swapping positions in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Robinson, the No. 75 overall pick in '07, caught 37 balls in a promising rookie year but missed most of last season with head and hamstring injuries. He has 4.3 speed and good size (6'2/195), and will get a chance to start in St. Louis. Donnie Avery is locked into a first-team job, so Robinson, Derek Stanley, and Keenan Burton will vie in training camp for the other position. Apr. 6 - 6:32 pm et

Report: Chargers want two picks for Jackson
Jackson
The Chargers are asking for a second-round pick in 2011 and a third-round pick in 2012 in exchange for Vincent Jackson, according to Yahoo's Michael Silver.
These are not absurd demands. The Dolphins gave up a second-round pick in both 2010 and 2011 for Brandon Marshall and then signed him to a four-year, $47.5 million contract that included at least $12.5 million in guarantees. However, we have no recent reports of movement on the V-Jax situation. Let someone else overpay for Jackson on draft day. Sep. 2 - 11:06 am et

Ravens to get FS Reed back in September?
Reed
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Ravens FS Ed Reed (hip) is likely to resume playing at some point in September.
La Canfora notes that Reed has visited two specialists, and got "positive feedback" from both. While Reed probably won't be ready for Week 1, he looks likely to at least avoid the PUP. How much the injury will affect Reed remains to be seen, but it's good news for Baltimore's fantasy defense. Sep. 1 - 7:25 pm et
Cards sign Dockett to 4-year, $48M extension
Dockett
Cardinals signed DE Darnell Dockett to a four-year, $48 million extension through 2015, including $30-31 million guaranteed.
A dynamite pass rusher who's smoothly transitioned from "three technique" tackle in Arizona's old 4-3 system to end in the new 3-4, Dockett has racked up 20 sacks and six turnovers caused over the last three years. Entering his seventh season, the 29-year-old has yet to miss a game. Dockett's twitter account (@ddockett) is also a good source for outside-the-box thinking. Sep. 1 - 6:37 pm et

Report: Big Ben to ask for 3-game reduction
Roethlisberger
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that Ben Roethlisberger will ask for "at least" a three-game reduction of his 4-6 game suspension during his meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday.
Roethlisberger will bring team president Art Rooney II to the meeting, in an effort to show he also has the backing of the respected Steelers organization. Goodell is believed to already be in favor of reducing the ban to four games, but Big Ben has gone above and beyond what the NFL asked of him since his latest sexual assault accusation. Roethlisberger can also contend that he's the only player in league history to be suspended under the Personal Conduct Policy without being arrested or charged with a crime. Sep. 1 - 5:58 pm et

Report: Giants not interested in Matt Leinart
Leinart
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer disputes a rumor that Matt Leinart has been traded to the Giants, saying New York is "not interested" in such a deal.
Glazer acknowledges that the Giants do want a veteran backup, but one who's "perfectly content with being Eli Manning's backup." The delusional Leinart wants a starting job. Buffalo makes more sense as a landing spot, but the Bills' website claims the match is unlikely. If the Cardinals can't find a trade partner by Saturday, Leinart will likely be among their final cuts. Sep. 1 - 3:42 pm et

Report: Greg Olsen still available for trade
Olsen
A league source tells the Chicago Sun-Times' Mike Mulligan "there is still talk" that Greg Olsen is available for trade.
Mulligan is a columnist rather than a beat writer, so take this report with the obligatory grain of salt. Unique among Chicago media, Mulligan concedes that "there has been nothing but tireless propaganda" about Olsen's fit in Mike Martz's offense. With LT Chris Williams giving his best swinging gate impression in preseason action, however, it's become obvious that blocking specialist Brandon Manumaleuna's presence is even more crucial than originally expected. Olsen's offensive role remains up in the air. Sep. 1 - 12:17 pm et

Kevin Smith in danger of being cut by Lions?
Smith
Kevin Smith's roster spot may be in jeopardy, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The Detroit News believes Smith's spot is secure despite his preseason struggles, but the Free Press is unconvinced, adding this telling Jim Schwartz quote about Smith's place on the team: "I don't know. I'll cross that bridge when we get there. I don't know that there's very many people that have 100% earned a spot." Even if Smith sticks, he won't have a significant role. Sep. 1 - 10:13 am et

Gailey: Jackson to be 'limited early in year'
Jackson
Coach Chan Gailey acknowledged Tuesday that Fred Jackson will be "limited early in the year" as he recovers from a fractured hand.
Rookie C.J. Spiller deserves a significant role and Marshawn Lynch is back from an ankle sprain, so there's no reason to rush back Jackson. Our concern, however, is with the rising ADP of Spiller and the swift fall of Jackson's. Spiller is now consistently being drafted in the early fifth round, while Jackson is falling to the eighth and ninth. Jackson is the better bet for TDs, and may not finish with many fewer rushing yards despite the injury. Aug. 31 - 10:00 pm et

Ravens deal for Wilson to bolster secondary
Ravens acquired CB Josh Wilson from the Seahawks in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft pick.
The fifth-rounder could be upgraded to a fourth-rounder if conditions are met. Wilson is best suited to a nickelback role, but he could end up starting for Baltimore early in the season with Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb both returning from ACL surgery. Wilson did start the Seahawks' first preseason game, but he wasn't in Seattle's long-term plans. It's a smart trade for the Ravens. Aug. 31 - 6:58 pm et
