Donald Brown inactive for Week 9 vs. Texans
Brown
Colts RB Donald Brown (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Joseph Addai is a much better fantasy play against the Texans' improved defense with Brown out of the picture. Pierre Garcon (ankle) is active, though Austin Collie is still a fine WR3 this week. Other Colts inactives: K Adam Vinatieri, QB Curtis Painter, WR Anthony Gonzalez, CB Kelvin Hayden, OT Tony Ugoh, DT Fili Moala, and TE Tom Santi. Nov. 8 - 11:44 am et
MB3 to get fewer carries than Felix Jones?
Barber
Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer is the latest reporter to predict Felix Jones will get more carries than Marion Barber in 2010.
Virtually everyone around the Cowboys has already said as much. According to Archer, Barber "doesn't seem to have that burst anymore and he doesn't break as many tackles." Combine that with Felix Jones' impressive playoff showing and it's easy to see why so many people are down on Barber. Feb. 10 - 10:02 am et

Report: Boldin likely to be on Dolphins radar
Boldin
Two people in contact with the Dolphins could "envision" the team offering a draft pick for Anquan Boldin, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
The pick would be a third-rounder or later. Jackson is a columnist -- not a reporter -- but this is the second time in a week we've heard substantial rumors about Boldin and the Dolphins. Boldin is big and as tough as they come, fitting VP of football operations Bill Parcells' profile, and would fill a glaring need as a play-making No. 1 receiver for Chad Henne. Jackson adds that the Dolphins aren't interested in Brandon Marshall. Feb. 10 - 8:35 am et

S-Jax case closed due to lack of evidence
Jackson
Las Vegas police cited a lack of evidence in closing the assault case against Steven Jackson brought on by allegations from his former girlfriend.
Detectives talked to all parties involved after Jackson was accused of beating his then-pregnant girlfriend, who is now the mother of his young son. With insufficient evidence, the investigation is complete and the case closed. Jackson, who had vigorously denied the accusations, is not expected to be punished by the league. Feb. 9 - 5:41 pm et

Peppers doesn't want extension with Panthers
Peppers
During a radio interview that aired Tuesday morning, Julius Peppers said he doesn't want a long-term extension from the Panthers.
Panthers beat writer Darin Gantt says "it's becoming more and more clear that Peppers isn't going to be here next year." Peppers is upset that the Panthers are giving him and his agent the "silent treatment." Gantt suggests that the Panthers should put the franchise tag on Peppers with designs on trading him. The Eagles, Patriots and Falcons are rumored as possible landing spots. Feb. 9 - 9:04 am et

Martz says TE Olsen will need to block first
Olsen
New Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said that Greg Olsen's first responsibility will be blocking.
"To just skip by [blocking] and say, 'He's a terrific receiver,' well...you might as well just put another wide receiver in there," Martz said. This highlights Martz's attitude toward tight ends. No matter how good a receiver Olsen is, Martz sees him as primarily a blocker. No Martz TE has ever caught more than 38 passes and Olsen's outlook has taken a gigantic hit heading into 2010.  Hester will move to slot, play fewer snaps?
Hester
New Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said that he envisions Devin Hester moving to the slot and playing reduced snaps on offense.
Martz sees Hester going back to his role as a full-time returner. "It would be very difficult for him to play every snap on offense and still play effectively on special teams," Martz said. Hester would play the slot role that Az Hakim did for Martz's Rams and it's worth noting that Hakim never caught more than 53 passes in a season. Downgrade Hester's outlook for 2010.  Giants S Phillips says he's ahead of schedule
Phillips
Giants SS Kenny Phillips says he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from September microfracture surgery.
Dr. James Andrews, Phillips' surgeon, and the Giants' club physician agree that Phillips' recovery has gone well so far. However, he's only just began running in a pool and hasn't been cleared to jog on land yet. He won't begin doing so until March 29, exactly six months after the operation. It's going to be hard for the Giants to count on Phillips as they approach the offseason. Feb. 8 - 10:23 pm et

Browns cut ties with WR Donte' Stallworth
Stallworth
Browns released WR Donte' Stallworth.
He didn't last 24 hours on the offseason roster after being reinstated from his one-year suspension Monday morning. Stallworth is still only 29, but was completely ineffective the last time he played, catching just 17 balls for 170 yards and a single touchdown in 11 games opposite Braylon Edwards in 2008. He'll be lucky to get more than a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, and is a long shot to ever reappear on the fantasy radar again. Feb. 8 - 5:39 pm et
Manning throws for 333 yards as Colts fall
Manning
Peyton Manning completed 31-of-45 passes for 333 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in the Colts' Super Bowl loss.
The Colts were out-coached and Manning was outplayed by Drew Brees. Manning's pick six to Tracy Porter was the nail in the coffin. Manning turns 34 next month, but will return as a top-five fantasy quarterback in 2010 with several weapons still in their development phase. The Colts plan to make Manning the highest paid player in the league this offseason. Feb. 7 - 10:02 pm et
