Texans GM Rick Smith confirmed Tuesday that the team will not pursue free agent Larry Johnson.
"We took all the factors into consideration — football, off-the-field issues, and we determined that it wasn't a good fit for us at this time," Smith said. "We've got confidence in our backs." It's a bad sign when a team with the No. 27 rushing offense passes on such a big-name running back. The Steelers and Bears also are believed to have bowed out of the L.J. "sweepstakes."
