 Hurricanes sign Legace
The Hurricanes signed Manny Legace to a two-way, one year contract worth $500,000.
With goalie Cam Ward out at least a month with a lacerated leg, the 'Canes were desperate for help between the pipes. Legace was playing with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL after being cut from the Thrashers in training camp. He wasn't exactly tearing up the minors with a 2-2-1 record, 3.21 GAA and .898 save percentage. He will likely split time with Michael Leighton. Nov. 9 - 10:27 am et

 Dubinksy has cast removed
Dubinsky
Brandon Dubinksy had the cast removed from his broken right hand on Friday.
The feisty pivot is now wearing a brace and is progressing nicely. Dubinksy has not played since November 7th and will likely not return to the Ranger lineup for another 10-14 days. But he is getting closer to a return to action. Nov. 21 - 11:04 am et

 Drury back on ice
Chris Drury skated Friday for the first time since he sustained a concussion two weeks ago.
He was medically cleared to resume practice on Thursday. We suspect Drury will need a few days of conditioning before he gets into a game. Keep him on reserve for now. Nov. 21 - 11:00 am et

Zubrus out 4=6 weeks with broken kneecap
Dainius Zubrus will be out of action for 4-6 weeks with a hairline fracture in his right kneecap (patella).
Zubrus will undergo surgery Friday to stabilize the area and could begin walking shortly thereafter. The Devils will likely not call up a forward to replace Zubrus on the roster but instead will dress seven defensemen against the Stars. Look for rookie rearguard Matt Corrente to make his NHL debut. No word on how the Devils will re-arrange their forward lines as a result of Zubrus' injury. Nov. 21 - 10:55 am et

Danis to get start Saturday vs Dallas
Yann Danis will get his third start of the season Saturday against Dallas.
It is one of those rare circumstances where a New Jersey coach was able to convince Martin Brodeur to take a night off. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly. Nov. 21 - 10:49 am et

Price may get start Saturday vs Wings
Price
Carey Price may get the start Saturday against Detroit despite the fact he played Friday night in Washington.
Price was outstanding against the Caps and coach Jacques Martin will be tempted to start him again despite the back-to-back contests. FYI, Jaroslav Halak last started 11 days ago. Check our probable goaltenders chart for updates. Nov. 21 - 10:41 am et
Moen's status unclear after shot block
It is unlcear if Travis Moen will be able to play Saturday against Detroit.
He blocked a shot in the second period of Friday night's game against Washington and seemed to be in quite a bit of pain. Moen is scheduled to be re-evaluated Saturday. Consider him day-to-day. Nov. 21 - 10:35 am et

Gomez hurt in win against Caps Friday
Scott Gomez left Friday night's 3-2 win over the Capitals in the third period with a lower-body injury.
He will be re-evaluated on Saturday. As soon as we know the extent of Gomez's injury we will pass it along. We would play it safe however, as it does not seem likely that Gomez will be able to suit up against Detroit. Nov. 21 - 10:30 am et

Vkoun likely starter vs Rangers Saturday
Vokoun
Despite Scott Clemmensen's outstanding performance against Detroit Friday night (39 saves), Tomas Vokoun will likely get the start against the Rangers Saturday.
Of course, things could change closer to game time. We would put Vokoun in the lineup and leave him there until further notice. Nov. 21 - 10:18 am et
Sharks put big three together on top line
Marleau
Coach Todd McLellan switched up the lines and Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley played the whole game together on the top unit.
It paid off big dividends as the line accounted for four goals and eights points in a 6-3 win over Philadelphia on Friday. Heatley had the hat-trick, while Marleau scored once and Thornton assisted on all four goals. Heatley scored even strength, on the power play and short-handed. The line was plus-six on the evening and will be a very tough line to defend if they stay together. Nov. 21 - 10:05 am et
