Alex Ovechkin says he was joking when he told a reporter that he could miss over a month due to his shoulder strain.
What a guy. To be fair, Ovechkin may have had no sinister motives, but given what's happened so far, it's hard to blame the reporter for taking Ovechkin seriously. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau had previously stated that he didn't even know much about Ovechkin's injury other than it being an upper body strain and the team had released very few details. The lack of information which set up an environment where a misunderstanding like this one could occur. Ovechkin now says he'll be ready to return in about a week.
