Antero Niittymaki will probably play Thursday
Antero Niittymaki will probably play in between the pipes Thursday.
Although lightning coach Rick Tocchet hasn't revealed which goaltender will play on Thursday, he did say he plans to ride the hot hand. That probably means Niittymaki will start in his fourth consecutive game Thursday. Niittymaki has a 1.61 GAA and .953 save percentage in his last three contests. Nov. 11 - 4:27 pm et

Donovan may miss remainder of season
Shean Donovan may be out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury on Thursday against Pittsburgh.
"It's his MCL (medial collateral ligament) for sure and he's having an MRI to see if it's the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), too. We won't know until tomorrow," said Senators' GM Bryan Murray. He was hurt after a knee-on-knee collision with Penguins' forward Matt Cooke. Stay tuned. Nov. 20 - 3:31 pm et

 Pitkanen will return on Saturday
Pitkanen
Joni Pitkanen (lower body) is expected to be back in the Carolina lineup on Saturday night.
The mobile defender has missed the Hurricanes' last two games with a lower-body injury, but coach Paul Maurice said he will be good to go on Saturday against the Lightning. Nov. 20 - 2:40 pm et

 Comrie suffering from mononucleosis
Mike Comrie has been diagnosed with mononucleosis.
Well this makes a lot more sense as Comrie has been ill for a month with what started out as the flu. "They think this has been going on for a couple of weeks, it's maybe one of the reasons his (decreased) energy and production becomes more explained," coach Pat Quinn said. "It has has to run its course. It's one of those viruses you don't play with. It'll run its course and they'll continue to test him until the virus is pushed out." There is no timetable for his return at this time. Reserve the center for now. Nov. 20 - 7:45 am et

Ruutu sets up four goals in 6-5 SO win
Tuomo Ruutu amassed four assists in a 6-5 shootout win over Toronto on Thursday.
Blueliner Tim Gleason scored twice in the victory, while Matt Cullen got on the scoresheet with a goal and a helper. Stephane Yelle and Erik Cole also found the back of the net for Carolina in the contest. Nov. 19 - 10:15 pm et
Kovalev headed to Russia for funeral
Alexei Kovalev will go back to Russia after Thursday's game for the funeral of his mother-in-law.
Our condolences to the family of Kovalev's wife. The Senators play Saturday against Buffalo and Monday against the Capitals, so he will miss at least Saturday's game and possibly Monday. Stay tuned. Nov. 19 - 6:15 pm et

 Gonchar to play on Thursday
Gonchar
Sergei Gonchar (wrist) will be back in the Pittsburgh lineup on Thursday.
Gonchar has missed the last 12 games with the broken wrist and his return can't come soon enough for the Penguins who have been decimated on the blue line. Gonchar will quarterback the power play and get in a lot of minutes tonight. Get him back in your fantasy lineup as quickly as you can. Nov. 19 - 3:53 pm et

Kotalik moves to the top line in New York
Ales Kotalik is now playing on the top line with the Rangers.
He joins Marian Gaborik and Vaclav Prospal as Enver Lisin, who had gone the last eight games without a point, moves down to the second line with Christopher Higgins and Pierre Parenteau. The bottom two lines in practice were Sean Avery, Artem Anisimov and Ryan Callahan; Donald Brashear, Brian Boyle and Aaron Voros. Kotalik gets a boost in fantasy value and Lisin's drops, although with no points in eight games, his value wasn't high anyway. Nov. 19 - 3:44 pm et
 D. Sedin looking to Sunday return
Sedin
Daniel Sedin (broken foot) is targeting Sunday for his return.
Sedin broke his foot on October 7th and it was thought at the time he would be out for 4-6 weeks. He has had a setback earlier and is now at the six week mark, so Sunday's return seems reasonable barring another setback. Sedin is looking to practice on Thursday after skating by himself on Wednesday. Get him in your lineup for next week if you have weekly moves as Sedin is a top scorer in the NHL, averaging around a point a game. Nov. 19 - 10:51 am et
