Detroit lost defenseman Niklas Kronwall in the first period on Saturday after a knee-on-knee hit from Montreal tough guy Georges Laraque.
"That's something that shouldn't happen in hockey," coach Mike Babcock said. "A guy shouldn't hang his leg out there and hurt another guy. It's unacceptable and it's disappointing because we just lost a good hockey player for a period of time. Our doctors will look at him (Sunday), but he's out for a chunk of time for sure." The Wings are hopeful that he just suffered a sprained MCL, but will not know the full extent of the injury until they get the MRIs back. "Right now our guess is he's out a minimum of two weeks, but we won't know until we get the pictures the extent of the injury," GM Ken Holland said. Stay tuned.
