Jay Bouwmeester and the Calgary Flames have not started negotiating a new deal yet, but they are set to meet soon.
"We’ve had no discussions whatsoever," Bouwmeester’s agent, Bryon Baltimore, said on Saturday. "I just talked to [Flames' GM] Darryl [Sutter] today to set up a meeting. That’s it. That’s the system. That’s the way it is. They traded for the right to talk. We’re going to listen to what Calgary has to say, then sit down and decide what’s best for Jay." Calgary acquired the rights to Bouwmeester on Saturday for pending unrestricted free agent Jordan Leopold and a third-round pick. They will hope to ink Bouwmeester to a long-term deal before he hits free agency on July 1. Jun. 28 - 7:18 am et Source: Calgary Herald |
