 Alex Allen - RBNov. 29 - 11:15 am et
Akron has fired head football coach J.D. Brookhart.
And the search for the man who will take the Zips to the promised land continues.

 Chris Jacquemain - QBSep. 23 - 7:15 pm et
Akron starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain has been dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.  Assistant coach Reno Ferri was also placed on administrative leave and suspended with pay pending an internal review of NCAA compliance requirements.
Matt Rodgers will start at quarterback for the Zips.

 Chris Jacquemain - QBSep. 18 - 9:00 pm et
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg reports that Akron has suspended starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain for an indefinite amount of time, starting with tomorrow's game against Indiana. Matt Rodgers will start.
This is a big blow for Akron, and it will likely have an adverse effect on the fantasy production of wide receiver Deryn Bowser.

 Chris Jacquemain - QBSep. 12 - 7:15 pm et
Akron Zips quarterback Chris Jacquemain threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns Saturday against visiting Morgan State.
Jacquemain played respectably in a 31-7 loss to Penn State in Week One - 158 yards, one touchdown, one interception - but showed that he could be a solid statistical play in a more favorable matchup like this afternoon's.  Indiana is up next in a very winnable game for the Zips, with Jacquemain seemingly a solid start for fantasy owners needing a performer in a pinch in Week Three.

 Alex Allen - RBAug. 13 - 4:30 pm et
After suffering a season ending hip injury last year, running back Alex Allen is back on the practice field for Akron.
If Allen's hip is 100% he could be a surprise 1000-yard back in 2009.   He's worth a late round flier pick.

 Alex Allen - RBMar. 2 - 12:15 pm et
Alex Allen is looking to replace Dennis Kennedy and emerge as the Zips' starting tailback in 2009.
Allen showed flashes last season, rushing for 103 yards and two scores in week two against Syracuse before a week three hip injury ended his season. He'll have to fend off Louisville transfer Dale Martin for the starting job.

 Chris Jacquemain - QBFeb. 17 - 6:30 pm et
Akron has named former Miami (OH) head coach Shane Montgomery as its new offensive coordinator, and he'll team with former Pitt and Stanford head man Walt Harris who'll serve as quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator.
These is a pretty impressive offensive brain trust, and we expect to see a bump in Chris Jacquemain's passing stats in 2009 thanks to these moves.

 Dennis Kennedy - RBNov. 28 - 7:00 pm et
Akron star running back Dennis Kennedy gained 197 yards from scrimmage, but he was held scoreless as Temple beat up Kennedy's Zips.
Following eight touchdowns in his last two outings, owners of Kennedy had begun to expect huge games. Kenendy's failure to find paydirt likely stung a few owners.
 Dennis Kennedy - RBNov. 22 - 10:15 pm et
Keeping the hot streak alive Dennis Kennedy carried 34 times for 123 yards and four touchdowns in a losing effort against Ohio. Kennedy also hooked up with quarterback Chris Jacquemain six times for 29 yards, and even threw a pass himself, although incomplete.
After only 89 yards rushing through the first six games, Kennedy hasn't rushed for less than 123 in the last five. Through the past five games Dennis Kennedy has totaled 877 yards and 13 touchdowns.
 Dennis Kennedy - RBNov. 14 - 11:45 am et
Running back Dennis Kennedy's four touchdowns (one receiving) was not enough to help Akron beat Buffalo in what was the final game in the Rubber Bowl Thursday night. Kennedy finished with 142 yards rushing and 121 receiving on the night.
After a slow start to the season, Kennedy has been one of the top fantasy backs in the country. Kennedy currently has 1045 rushing yards on the year and 14 total touchdowns.
 Andrew Johnson - RBSep. 30 - 4:30 pm et
Akron running back Andrew Johnson (stingers that were originally thought to be a very serious neck injury) will miss this week's game with Kent State.
Johnson, who has 35 carries on the season, will rest up this weekend, and hopefully be back for the Falcons of Bowling Green on the 11th.

 Alex Allen - RBSep. 25 - 11:45 am et
Akron running back Alex Allen is out for the year with a hip injury suffered against Ball State in week three.
Allen had a nice start to the 2008 season before going down. Look for Dennis Kennedy to carry the load the rest of the way for the Zips.

 Alex Allen - RBSep. 17 - 1:30 pm et
Starting running back Alex Allen had to be helped off the field in a stretcher after injury what appears to be his hip.
No word on Allen's status this week against Army. We are crossing him off the start list.

 Chris Jacquemain - QBAug. 14 - 11:33 am et
Akron starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain and backup Matt Rogers have looked very good in practice, with each playing exceptionally well in a recent scrimmage.
We could see Jacquemain make a huge jump from his 11-touchdown performance of a season ago. He's one to watch in leagues that include MAC quarterbacks.

 Jabari Arthur - WRNov. 10 - 5:54 pm et
Akron wide receiver Jabari Arthur caught eight balls for 129 yards and a score in the win over Toledo.
Arthur now has 11 scores on the season.
 Alex Allen - RBNov. 10 - 5:52 pm et
Akron running back Alex Allen ran for 96 yards and three scores in the win over Toledo.
Alex Allen now has nine scores on the season, and I'll bet he's still available in your league.
 Jabari Arthur - WROct. 7 - 1:39 pm et
Akron wide receiver Jabari Arthur exploded for 15 receptions for 223 yards and three touchdowns in a victory over Western Michigan.
Arthur has been a solid fantasy start this year, posting a score in every week with the exception of week 2 against Ohio State. Saturday's outburst was truly remarkable as he bested Western Michigan stud Jamarko Simmons in a battle of top MAC receivers.
 David Harvey - WRJul. 30 - 1:40 pm et
2006 Freshman sensation David Harvey is no longer on the Akron football team due to academics. It is unclear if there is anything that he can do to return.
With Harvey most likely out of the mix, Jabari Arthur becomes a decent fantasy prospect. Arthur is a big receiver and will likely be the Zips leading receiver.

 Luke Getsy - QBDec. 1 - 11:57 pm et
Luke Getsy threw for 407 yards in tonight's MAC Championship game to beat Northern Illinois 31-30.
Getsy's biggest pass of the day was a 36-yard touchdown pass to Domenik Hixon with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game. The touchdown gave Akron the win and their first bowl birth in school history.
