 MiQuale Lewis - RBJan. 16 - 3:00 pm et
Ball State running back MiQuale Lewis has told the Ball State Daily News that he has been awarded a fifth year of eligibility, though Ball State has not received the official letter saying this is the case.
Great news for Lewis and Ball State. Look for improvement from an offense that suffered a great deal of growing pains in year one under coach Stan Parrish.

 Cory Sykes - RBNov. 25 - 10:45 am et
Ball State sophomore RB Cory Sykes rushed for 70 yards on 16 carries against Western Michigan.
With MiQuale Lewis set to graduate, Sykes should take over next season on what figures to be a somewhat improved Cardnials offense.  At 5-foot-7, 157 pounds, no one will ever confuse Sykes with Jerome Bettis, but Sykes is shifty, and can make big things happen.  If you like drafting MAC players, make sure you remember this guy next August.

 MiQuale Lewis - RBOct. 31 - 4:30 pm et
Ball State running back MiQuale Lewis was held to 45 yards on 22 carries today against Ohio.
Amazing what a week can do.  When not facing a terrible run defense in Eastern Michigan, Ball State hardly mustered an offense today.  Last week's hot waiver pick up Cory Sykes only carried the ball four times for 22 yards.  The Cardinals are off until Nov. 12, but stay away from any and all Ball State players against Northern Illinois.

 Cory Sykes - RBOct. 25 - 12:45 am et
Sophomore Ball State running back Cory Sykes had a career night, rushing 23 times for 208 yards and three scores in Ball State's victory over Eastern Michigan.
MiQuale Lewis' night might overshadow Sykes' effort in what has been a miserable season for Ball State. Sykes came in to tonight with only 26 carries for 104 yards on the season.  File his name away for next year.

 MiQuale Lewis - RBOct. 25 - 12:45 am et
Ball State running back MiQuale Lewis ran 26 times for a monstorous 301 yards and one touchdown tonight against Eastern Michigan.
Patient Lewis owners are finally grinning ear to ear in a tough season for the Cardinals. Until quarterback Tanner Justice (two for 10, one yard passing!) can help out, Lewis looks like a marginal play next week against Ohio.

 Kelly Page - QBOct. 21 - 8:00 pm et
Ball State quarterback Kelly Page will have surgery to repair a broken thumb on his right (throwing) hand and will miss the rest of the season
With Page out, Tanner Justice will take over the starting duties.  But the Cardinals will need to find a way to get running back MiQuale Lewis on track if they expect to get into the win column.  This week against Eastern Michigan, who ranks 118th in rush defense, should help in their quest.

 Kelly Page - QBSep. 19 - 5:00 pm et
True freshman quarterback for the Ball State Cardinals, Kelly Page, struggled once more today in taking on the Army Black Knights on the road, finishing the 24-17 loss 12 of 24 passing for 154 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions.
Page now has a TD:Int ratio of 2:5 through the Cardinals' first three games of 2009 and has yet to through for more than 200 yards in a game.  One upside in today's game against the Black Knights, however; the freshman was able to rush four times for 58 yards and an additional score on the ground.

 Madaris Grant - TESep. 9 - 12:00 pm et
Ball State tight end Madaris Grant is likely out for the year with what appears to be a torn ACL.
There has been no official word on Grant's status; assume the worst for now.

 MiQuale Lewis - RBSep. 4 - 1:15 pm et
The Ball State offense struggled to find its rhythm in the loss to North Texas Thursday night.  Notably, MiQuale Lewis was only able to manage 103 yards against the 105th rated rush defense (2008).
The preseason fears that the Cardinals would struggle without quarterback Nate Davis and former coach Brady Hoke came true last night.  Lewis is still a solid fantasy back (6.9 ypc).  But the Cardinals need to find a way to get the ball out of the hands of quarterback Kelly Page (34 pass atts) and into the hands of Lewis (15 rush atts).

 Ian McGarvey - KAug. 15 - 11:45 pm et
Ball State could potentially use up to three kickers to handle field goals, extra points and kickoffs.
Ian McGarvey put his job in jeopardy after being suspended for spring practice. Steven Schott stepped in and has a good opportunity to see the field this year. Stay away from the Ball State kicking game.

 MiQuale Lewis - RBApr. 13 - 1:45 pm et
Ball State took no chances this spring with their star running back MiQuale Lewis, holding him out of contact drills and sitting him in the final scrimmage.
There was no need to risk Lewis getting injured and you can expect more of the same during fall camp.

 Kelly Page - QBApr. 11 - 11:45 pm et
"Kelly Page has earned the right to be our No. 1 quarterback heading into fall camp," new head coach Stan Parrish said as Ball State completed spring workouts on Saturday.
Page entered the spring as the favorite and there is no reason to believe he won't be the starter when they host North Texas in the opener.

 Kelly Page - QBJan. 22 - 3:00 pm et
Ball State head coach Stan Parrish says Kelly Page will head into spring practice as the heir apparent to Nate Davis. "I repped him like he was the second all year even though I redshirted him. And then to get the bowl practice... He's got an awful lot of talent, and going into spring I'd say Page is the front-runner for the job," Parrish told ESPN.com.
No one can replace Nate Davis, but with Parrish sticking around, we expect the offense to remain the same. Parrish also seems to be high on Page, who redshirted last year. Page is a name to file away in the memory bank.

 Nate Davis - QBJan. 13 - 6:15 pm et
Ball State quarterback Nate Davis will enter the 2009 NFL draft. The news was announced today by assistant athletic director Joe Hernandez. A press conference is scheduled at 5 p.m. ET to formally announce the decision.
Davis, a junior, was one of our candidates to leave school early a month ago, but a string of sub-par performances seemed to put his decision in doubt. Bottom line, Davis is one of the top quarterbacks in the country and should still be a first round draft pick.

 Nate Davis - QBJan. 11 - 11:15 pm et
Ball State coach Stan Parrish says he has received junior quarterback Nate Davis' NFL draft grade, but would not discuss the details with the media. Parrish and Davis will discuss the results in the coming days. Davis has until Jan. 15 (Thursday) to make his decision.
Davis is coming off back-to-back sub par outings that may weigh heavily on his decision. So too will Parrish being elevated to head coach (former offensive coordinator). We had Davis pegged for an early entry, but now we are not so sure.

 Nate Davis - QBDec. 18 - 8:45 pm et
Ball State has hired Stan Parrish as their next head coach. Parrish has served as the Cardinals offensive coordinator for the last four years.
This is a win for the Cardinals and a loss for former head coach Brady Hoke. Hoke had been hoping Parrish would join him at San Diego State. The move could also sway quarterback Nate Davis to stick around for his senior year.

 Nate Davis - QBDec. 16 - 8:30 pm et
According to ESPN's Joe Shad, Ball State is expected to hire current offensive coordinator Stan Parrish as its next head coach. Parrish and Ball State athletic director Tom Collins have denied that a deal is in place or that an offer has been made.
The possibility of Parrish becoming the Cardinals next head coach is a possibility as is joining his former boss Brady Hoke at San Diego State. Parrish is also scheduled to coach the Cardinals in the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6 against Tulsa. Hold off on drafting or starting Ball State players this bowl season until this mess is sorted out.

 Briggs Orsbon - WRDec. 15 - 9:00 pm et
According to the MACReportOnline.com Brady Hoke is set to make over $700,000 as San Diego State's new head coach. Hoke made just $250,000 this past year at Ball State and was reportedly only offered $350,000 to stay.
On the surface the move seems strange, however it is clear there are 350,000 reasons to move to San Diego. Make that 350,001 when you factor in the weather.

 Nate Davis - QBDec. 15 - 3:30 pm et
Ball State quarterback Nate Davis said he will think about entering the NFL draft this April. Davis, a junior, said he will wait until after the winter break to make a decision.
With the recent reports that Ball State coach Brady Hoke will be heading to San Diego State, Davis' departure becomes more and more likely.
