 Zach Collaros - QBJan. 25 - 6:45 pm et
Quarterback recruit Cody Kater has decided to follow coach Butch Jones to Cincinnati instead of enrolling at Central Michigan.
Kater is listed as a three star recruit according to Rivals.com, but he will have to wait his turn behind Zach Collaros, a talented rising junior.

Rivals.com is reporting that Cincinnati has asked permission to speak with Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin about their vacant head coaching position.  Sumlin said early in the week that his is close to signing a contract extension with the Cougars.
This would be an interesting twist and would put Bearcats quarterback Zach Collaros back in the mix as one of the 2010 must-have quarterbacks.

Both ESPN and the Chicago Tribune are reporting that Brian Kelly could be named Notre Dame's next head coach soon.   The Tribune also reports that Kelly met with a firm hired by Notre Dame to help facilitate their search last week.
Of all the coaches that have been rumored as candidates for the Irish job, Kelly makes the most sense and this story seems to have some legs.

 Zach Collaros - QBDec. 8 - 8:15 am et
Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly had this to say on his Twitter page:  "Just informed our team that Notre Dame has contacted me and I will listen to what they have to say."
It is very rare to see a coach discuss upcoming interviews, especially ones that currently have a job.  This seems like all but a done deal.

 Zach Collaros - QBDec. 7 - 8:15 pm et
Sources have told ESPN's Joe Schad that Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly is expected to meet with Notre Dame officials on Tuesday.  Earlier in the day, Kelly also said on the Dan Patrick Show that he could not guarantee he would coach the Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl.
Kelly has been surprisingly upfront about the whole process.  And while he will dodge specifics regarding Notre Dame, any college football fan with a pulse can see the possible connection.

 Zach Collaros - QBDec. 7 - 8:15 pm et
Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros has signed up for an eight-hour class on the downfalls of underage drinking as punishment for presenting a fake ID last May.
With Collaros' legal woes apparently out of the way, his fantasy stock now lies in the hands of coach Brian Kelly.   Kelly is expected to decide his future with the Bearcats by this Saturday.

 Tony Pike - QBDec. 5 - 8:45 pm et
Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns in the Bearcats' comeback win over Pittsburgh.
Pike also threw three interceptions, but he had a great second half,  the last completion being a touchdown to Armon Binns with just 33 seconds remaining to give Cincinnati the win.

“I have not had contact (with Notre Dame),” Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly said. “Even if they were reaching out to me, I’m finishing out the season just like I have every year. We’re going to focus on Pittsburgh this week. After the Pittsburgh game, we can talk about other things.”
Interesting that Kelly leaves the door wide open after Saturday's game against Pitt.  A lot will likely hinge on the outcome of the Big 12 Championship game.  If Nebraska can pull the upset over Texas and the Bearcats down Pitt, they could receive a bid to the National Championship game.   It is hard to imagine a coach bolting under that scenario.

 Ben Guidugli - TENov. 28 - 10:45 am et
Cincinnati wide receivers Mardy Gilyard, Armon Binns and D.J. Woods, along with tight end Ben Guidugli all caught seven passes with at least one score against Illinois on Friday.
Guidugli and Gilyard both went over 100 yards with two touchdowns, while Binns and Woods also scored for the Bearcats.

 Tony Pike - QBNov. 28 - 10:45 am et
Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike returned to his starting role by throwing for 399 yards and six touchdowns in today's win over Illinois.
Four wide receivers had seven receptions with at least one touchdown, as Pike spread it all over the field in an impressive outing.

 Tony Pike - QBNov. 23 - 3:45 pm et
Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike is expected to start this Friday against Illinois.
Coach Brian Kelly says that Pike's left forearm healed up some more over the bye week, thus the senior will take over for Zach Collaros, who did more than just hold the fort in his absence.

 Zach Collaros - QBNov. 19 - 4:45 pm et
Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros was in court Thursday for failing to show up for a court ordered alcohol diversion program.  The judge told Collaros that he had until Dec. 7 to complete the program or face jail time.
We are going to take a wild guess that coach Brain Kelly is aware of the proceedings and will be on Collaros to get it done.

 Zach Collaros - QBNov. 18 - 7:15 pm et
Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros has been ordered to appear in court Thursday for failing to contact a court ordered diversion program.  The diversion program was part of his punishment for using a fake ID back in May.
The Cincinnati coaching staff is well aware of the situation and this is not expected to affect his status.

 Tony Pike - QBNov. 14 - 10:30 am et
Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike had two completions for 16 yards against West Virginia on Friday, but both went for touchdowns in the Bearcat win.
Zach Collaros played the majority of the game, but it was Pike's touchdown throws that put the Bearcats in a position to win the football game (and frustrated Collaros owners).

 Isaiah Pead - RBNov. 14 - 10:30 am et
Cincinnati running back Isaiah Pead ran for a career high 175 yards and added a touchdown in the Bearcats' win over West Virginia on Friday.
When given the carries, Pead has been very effective this season.  This was his first 100-yard game of 2009, but he does have 10 combined touchdowns.

One item we missed in our initial blurb about Zach Collaros getting the start at quarterback for Cincinnati is that Tony Pike (forearm) will also see some snaps.
Pike's involvement will be limited to quick passes and handing the ball off so as not to risk getting knocked around.  But this will eat into Collaros' opportunities and decreases his fantasy stock a touch.

 Zach Collaros - QBNov. 10 - 12:45 pm et
Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly told on WEBN-FM that Zach Collaros will start Saturday against West Virginia on Saturday.
The Bearcats have a bye the following week, giving Tony Pike (arm) more time to heal.  It will be interesting to see who starts in Week 13 against Illinois.

 Tony Pike - QBNov. 9 - 9:15 pm et
Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly said that Tony Pike (left forearm) will start on Saturday if he's deemed healthy.
To say that backup Zach Collaros has stepped in nicely could be the understatement of the season. And the fact that Kelly could go with the dynamic Collaros should the Bearcats start slowly Friday against West Virginia makes Pike too risky to start.

 Zach Collaros - QBNov. 8 - 12:15 am et
Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros accounted for 555 yards of total offense, throwing for 480 and rushing for another 75 with three combined touchdowns as Cincinnati defeated Connecticut on Saturday night.
After the game, Brian Kelly told ESPN that it would be very hard for him to pull Collaros right now.  You think?  Ever since Tony Pike got injured, Collaros has been lights out.

 Tony Pike - QBNov. 7 - 10:15 am et
There have been no updates on how quarterback Tony Pike has performed in practice the last couple of days.  Which probably mans Zach Collaros will get his third straight start against UConn on Saturday.
Earlier in the week coach Brian Kelly said that Pike was improving and could be used if necessary.  With Collaros completing 74.6 percent of his passes, there doesn't seem to be a reason to rush Pike back into action.
