 Ryan Mathews - RBDec. 21 - 7:15 pm et
Fresno State junior running back Ryan Mathews will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
Not overly surprising.  Mathews currently leads the nation in rushing and should be at least a second round pick.

 Ryan Mathews - RBDec. 19 - 10:15 pm et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews closed a tremendous season with 144 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Wyoming.
Good numbers on their face, but Mathews fumbled late in the fourth quarter, setting up a game tying field goal for Wyoming, and then was stopped three times from the one yard line in overtime.  Mathews finishes the year with 1808 yards and 19 touchdowns despite missing nearly two games.  We'll await word on an official announcement, but this was probably Mathews swan song.

"It's hard to tell right now," Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews said when asked if he will enter the 2010 NFL Draft. "Right now I'm going by ear and doing whatever coach Hill tells me. I'm probably going to come back and play football with these guys, but anything can happen. There's a world of possibilities out there for me."
We have a hard time seeing Mathews coming back for his senior year.  Especially when you consider the fact that he is no stranger to the injury bug.  I would hate to see him go, but coming out is probably the best option for Mathews.

 Ryan Mathews - RBDec. 5 - 9:30 pm et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews returned from a concussion and rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries against Illinois.
The Bulldogs finished 8-4 on the year, and await a hopeful bowl invite.  Should they get one, Mathews has to be one of the top RB selections in your postseason contest.  Otherwise, this may have been a going away party.

 Ryan Mathews - RBDec. 1 - 10:45 am et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews has been cleared to play and was back at practice on Sunday.  "I'm out here practicing, doing everything that everyone is doing, so I expect to play," Mathews said after Sunday's practice. "I feel 100 percent physically...I don't feel tired. I don't feel slow or anything."
If you are still kicking around, Mathews should be a good play this week against Illinois.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 22 - 2:45 pm et
With star running back Ryan Mathews sitting out the game due to last week's concussion, freshman Robbie Rouse led Fresno State with 75 yards on 21 carries against Louisiana Tech.
Lonyae Miller added 55 yards on 12 carries and found the endzone, but it's clear the Bulldogs need their star back.  We'll update Matthews' health as next week progresses.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 18 - 2:15 am et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews will miss this Saturday's game with Louisiana Tech according to coach Pat Hill.
Mathews leads the country in rushing yards and has been an automatic fantasy start until his injury last week against Nevada. He is expected back for Fresno State's final game against Illinois, but the December 5th date may be too late for him to help many fantasy teams.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 16 - 4:00 pm et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews (mild concussion) says he is fine and expects to return to practice on Tuesday.  "I'm fine," Mathews said Sunday. "I was kind of in a daze, but everything came back. I remember everything and I'm doing good."
Both Mathews and coach Pat Hill sound confident that Mathews will be ready to play Saturday against San Jose State.  He'll need to be cleared by the medical staff first though.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 15 - 4:00 pm et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews suffered a mild concussion in second quarter against Nevada on Saturday.
Mathews did walk off the field, but did not return.  Mathew's status for Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech won't be known until later in the week.  Lonyae Miller will likely pickup the slack if Mathews is unable to play, but the Bulldogs do have other options as well.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 14 - 8:15 pm et
Fresno State RB Ryan Mathews had his worst evening of the season tonight against Nevada as he was held to 32 yards on 8 carries
No immediate word on an injury, so chalk it up to a bad evening against a hot opponent.  I'd expect Mathews to do better next time out against an Illinois team that doesn't seem to care.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 8 - 10:30 am et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews added 143 yards and three more touchdowns to his ridiculous season totals.
Mathews is up to 1,459 yards and 14 scores through nine games.  Quarterback Ryan Colburn had a perfect evening, completing all 14 of his passes for 159 yards and a touchdown as he did a fantastic job of facilitating and handing the ball off.  Nevada doesn't figure to slow Mathews down at all next weekend.

 Seyi Ajirotutu - WRNov. 1 - 7:45 pm et
Fresno State wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu caught seven passes for 124 yards and a touchdown against Utah State.
This was Ajirotutu's first game over 100 yards this season, as quarterback Ryan Colburn has gotten good at handing the ball off to star RB Ryan Mathews.  Still, Fresno State's next two opponents are Idaho and Nevada, who aren't exactly known for defense.

 Ryan Mathews - RBNov. 1 - 12:15 am et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews did his thing, again; going for 185 yards and two touchdowns tonight against Utah State.
What else is there to say about Mathews?  He's good, bordering on great, and if you are looking for weekly advice on this running back; don't.  Play him.  Every week.  And enjoy.

 Ryan Mathews - RBOct. 27 - 8:30 pm et
Fresno State coach Pat Hill said that he and running back Ryan Mathews have discussed whether or not the junior should enter the 2010 NFL draft.  "If he's in position to make good money and have an opportunity to be drafted in the top 30-40 picks, I think it's in his best interest to look at that option," Hill said Monday.
This one is pretty simple. Mathews is one of the top running backs in the country (even before this year).  And he also knows what it is like to miss significant time due to injury.  As long as he gets a good draft grade, I don't see him risking injury for another year in the Valley.

 Ryan Mathews - RBOct. 25 - 11:15 am et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews found the endzone twice more against New Mexico State, carrying 25 times for 157 yards.
Mathews is now up to 1,131 yards and nine touchdowns on the season.  He's been one of the best running backs all year, and is rewarding owners handsomely for what was probably not a top pick.  Keep riding this guy next week against Utah State.

 Ryan Mathews - RBOct. 18 - 2:15 pm et
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews eclipsed the 200 yard mark again Saturday night against San Jose State, this time carrying 20 times for 233 yards and a touchdown.
Mathews has gone over 100 yards in every contest this season, and has only failed to reach the endzone once in a tough week two matchup at Wisconsin.  Expect another huge night next weekend as Fresno State travels to New Mexico State.

 Ryan Mathews - RBSep. 27 - 6:30 pm et
Ryan Mathews took a jaw-dropping 38 carries for 145 yards and a touchdown Saturday as Fresno State nearly picked off the Cincinnati Bearcats on the road.  He also had two receptions for 32 yards on the day.
There seems no means of stopping Mathews, the nation's leading rusher, who has already accumulated 592 yards and five touchdowns in just the first four games of the season.

Tailback Ryan Mathews of the Fresno State accumulated an impressive 234 yards rushing and three touchdowns Friday night in a 51-34 loss at home against the Boise State Broncos.
Mathews manufactured a career-high in yardage for the game, and proved a home-run hitting type back, netting touchdown runs of 69, 60, and 68 yards.

 Ryan Mathews - RBSep. 6 - 3:45 pm et
Ryan Mathews rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown in just 11 carries on Saturday night as Fresno State down U.C. Davis 51-0 at home at Bulldog Stadium.
As usual, the Bulldogs' ground game was simply dominant, amassing 310  yards on the ground - nearly two-thirds of the team's total 511 yards of total offense -, with Mathews proving a valuable focal point for its rushing attack.  Just imagine then what could happen once the junior sees more prominent numbers in terms of carries as the quality of competition Fresno State faces this year increases.
