 Kale Pick - QBFeb. 8 - 8:45 pm et
ESPN 's Tim Griffin likes JUCO transfer quarterback Quinn Mecham's chances at battling Kale Pick for the starting job at Kansas this spring and fall.
With a new coaching staff in town, preconceived notions on who the incumbents are will be thrown out the window.  And as Griffin points out, Mecham was recruited by new offensive coordinator Chuck Long (a former quarterback).

 Todd Reesing - QBDec. 15 - 11:00 am et
Head coach Turner Gill has hired former San Diego State head coach Chuck Long to serve as the new Kansas offensive coordinator.
Long, the former great Hawkeye quarterback and Oklahoma offensive coordinator, will certainly be familiar with the recruiting territory and what it takes to lead an explosive offense.

 Todd Reesing - QBDec. 10 - 8:00 am et
According to an member of the Buffalo football team, coach Turner Gill interviewed with Kansas on Sunday and is interested in the job.
This looks like a good fit for both sides, however usually once a coach is interviewed it is decided fairly quickly on whether or not he will be hired.   Minnesota's Tim Brewster is also being mentioned as a potential candidate.

 Dezmon Briscoe - WRDec. 4 - 3:45 pm et
KUSports.com reports Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe is expected to declare for the NFL Draft during a press conference on Friday.
The junior has had a great career in Lawrence, though some off-field issues and the uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation make this an expected announcement.

 Dezmon Briscoe - WRNov. 28 - 11:00 pm et
Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe pulled in 14 receptions for 242 yards and two touchdowns and lost two costly fumbles in Saturday's 41-39 loss to Kansas.
This marks Briscoe's seventh 100-yard game of the season and third 200-yard game of the junior's career. There is speculation Briscoe might leave Kansas for the NFL after the season, so this could end up as his final game as a Jayhawk.

 Todd Reesing - QBNov. 28 - 11:00 pm et
Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing threw for 498 yards and four touchdowns on 37-of-55 passing in the last-minute 41-39 loss to Missouri.
Reesing's 498 yards set a school record in his final game for the 5-7 Jayhawks. He tossed a pair of touchdowns to a pair of receivers, with both Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Meier finding the end zone twice.

“I’m focusing on Missouri right now,” Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe said regarding the NFL Draft. “That’s after-the-season-type-stuff.”
Briscoe, a junior, is expected to gather information regarding his draft status after the season and decide whether to leave early or return for one more year.  It is highly probable that Briscoe is playing his last game as a Jayhawk.  Kansas has to beat Missouri in the Border War on Saturday to become bowl eligible.

 Todd Reesing - QBNov. 18 - 5:30 pm et
The Kansas athletic department is investigating coach Mark Mangino for "unspecified personal reasons".  Mangino allegedly poked linebacker Arist Wright in the chest at practice several weeks ago.
Kansas is on a five game skid which, like the Rich Rodriguez deal over at Michigan, only compounds the situation.  Nothing would make both situations go away quicker than winning some football games.

 Dezmon Briscoe - WRNov. 16 - 7:15 am et
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Kansas junior wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe didn't get all misty-eyed on Saturday while thinking that he may have played his last game in his home stadium.
Briscoe has had some off-field issues, and these could inspire him to return to the program in order to remove any possible doubts about his character, or make him feel that a change of scenery would do him some good.

 Jake Sharp - RBNov. 14 - 10:30 am et
Kansas running back Jake Sharp says he is feeling much better heading into today's game with Nebraska, and feels he is close to 100 percent.
Even with this news, I'm not sure Sharp is a very good option today.  Proceed with caution.

 Jake Sharp - RBNov. 11 - 8:45 am et
Kansas running back Jake Sharp told the Topeka Capital-Journal that he's finally healthy.
A healthy Sharp will be a nice boost to a KU rushing attack that's struggled. Still Sharp is a risky play as the Jayhawk offense is not the same unit we saw back in September.

 Todd Reesing - QBNov. 6 - 9:15 pm et
Kansas coach Mark Mangino is taking heat for his handling of quarterback Todd Reesing's benching last week against Texas Tech and subsequent lack of communication.
Apparently Reesing, who has been suffering from a groin injury since the Colorado game, hasn't spoken to his coach about the incident.  Earlier this week Mangino said it was no big deal.  He might want to tell his starting quarterback that.

 Todd Reesing - QBNov. 2 - 7:15 pm et
Kansas coach Mark Mangino today said that quarterback Todd Reesing will start this week against Kansas State.
There had been a wee bit of doubt after Reesing was relieved during the loss to Texas Tech, and after it was mentioned that the Kansas senior had been dealing with a groin injury. Even with his recent struggles Reesing remains a solid start option, especially in this in-state rivalry game.

 Todd Reesing - QBNov. 1 - 8:15 pm et
Kansas coach Mark Mangino inserted freshman quarterback Kale Pick into the game in the fourth quarter in hopes of igniting a stagnant offense. Starter Todd Reesing told KUSports.com that he was "surprised" by the action.
Reesing has really struggled of late, and apparently a groin injury is giving him more trouble than he and KU have let on. Without the injury we'd be confident that Reesing would start next week against Kansas State; however with all things considered, this is definitely one to monitor.

 Dezmon Briscoe - WRNov. 1 - 8:00 pm et
Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Jayhawks' loss to Texas Tech.
Though his touches have been in single-digits in all but one contest, this marks Briscoe's fifth 100-yard game of the season

 Jake Sharp - RBOct. 26 - 11:15 am et
Kansas coach Mark Mangino told KUSports.com that tailback Jake Sharp (leg) is not 100% healthy. "And he's just playing because he really is a tough kid; he wants to play, he wants to contribute. But it's not where it was prior to his injury."
It sounds like Sharp begged and pleaded his way back into the lineup, and he's going primarily on guts right now. And it appears like Sharp may not make it back to full health this season.

Sharp had 13 carries for 37 yards in last week's loss to Colorado.  Fellow running back Toben Opurum, who carried the load while Sharp was out, only had two carries for three yards and a score.  How the pair will share carries the rest of the way will closely monitored.

The Jayhawks had a chance at a come-from-behind win at the end of regulation, but quarterback Todd Reesing's last minute attempts to both Meier and Briscoe were batted down to end the game.
