 Jamal Womble - RBJan. 13 - 8:15 am et
North Carolina running back Jamal Womble, wide receiver Rashad Mason and tight end Randy White have decided to leave the program.
Womble was a high profile recruit but only registered six carries in the season opener against The Citadel.

 Mike Paulus - QBDec. 19 - 1:15 am et
North Carolina backup quarterback Mike Paulus will transfer to William & Mary, where he will be able to play immediately.
T.J. Yates grabbed the starting job and wouldn't let go, thus another Paulus is moving in search of playing time.

 Zack Pianalto - TEOct. 29 - 12:00 am et
North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto (concussion) is listed as probable for Thursday's game against Virginia Tech.
Apparently Pianalto's grade of concussion wasn't as serious as those that are often suffered on the gridiron, thus he appears a very good bet to play.

 Jamal Womble - RBOct. 13 - 10:30 pm et
ESPN.com's Heather Dinich reports that North Carolina redshirt freshman running back Jamal Womble fractured his wrist on Saturday, and he'll have surgery in Chapel Hill on Friday.
Womble hasn't seen carries since his six in the season opener, so even a quick return means his fantasy potential is limited. Womble is an intriguing goal line back looking down the road.

 Ryan Houston - RBOct. 11 - 11:00 am et
Running back Ryan Houston and the Tar Heel offense got back on track against Georgia Southern scoring 42 points. Houston scored on touchdown runs of one, one and seven yards to finish the touchdown vulturizing day with 56 yards and three scores.
After two tough outings against Georgia Tech and Virginia fantasy owners who had high hopes for this Tar Heel offense coming into the season should be happy to see an offensive output like this.

 Zack Pianalto - TESep. 12 - 11:15 pm et
ESPN's Heather Dinich reports that North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto suffered a foot injury in the win over UConn, and he'll need an MRI on Monday.
Hopefully we're not looking at a serious injury for Pianalto, a definite fantasy factor coming off a 7-87-1 performance in the hard-fought win at Connecticut.

 Zack Pianalto - TESep. 12 - 6:15 pm et
Unfortunatley for tight end Zack Pianalto his monster performance in the comeback win for North Carolina against Conneticut will be overshadowed by the Martin Gramatica like end zone celebration he performed after the game tying touchdown he hauled in late in the fourth quarter. Pianalto hauled in an impressive seven passes for 87 yards and touchdown that tied the game for the Tar Heels, but during his end zone celebration Pianalto jumped in the air and landed awkardly on his ankle. He was later taken from the field in an air cast.
Keep an eye on Pianalto's injury status as he could become a major receiving threat in a Tar Heel offense already missing jumbo receiver Dwight Jones.

 Ryan Houston - RBSep. 6 - 7:45 am et
North Carolina Tar Heels starting running back Shaun Draughn amassed 118 yards on 20 carries in a one-sided victory against The Citadel. However, junior wrecking ball Ryan Houston (6'2" 245lbs) put a damper on Draughn's fantasy day taking in runs of 3 yards and 5 yards for touchdowns. Houston finished the game with 45 yards rushing and two touchdowns on six carries.
Unfortunately for Draughn owners it appears touchdown runs will be hard to come by unless he begins a habit of scoring from 20 plus yards out. The red zone belongs to Mr. Houston in Chapel Hill. So if you'd like to add the East Coast version of Cody Johnson to your fantasy team, then Houston is your guy.

 Dwight Jones - WRSep. 4 - 11:30 am et
North Carolina wide receiver Dwight Jones will have arthoscopic surgery no his right knee on Friday. Jones will miss the opener against The Citadel. It is unclear how long he will be out.
With Jones out, Greg Little and Joshua Adams will need to pick up the slack.

 Dwight Jones - WRSep. 1 - 6:45 am et
Not surprisingly Greg Little and Dwight Jones are listed as the Tar Heels starting wide receivers in a recently released depth chart.  The other notable is true freshman Joshua Adams is listed in the two-deep.
Adams and Jones are two newcomers that fantasy owners should watch.  Both have potential to be big time players.

 T.J. Yates - QBJun. 25 - 10:45 am et
North Carolina starting quarterback T.J. Yates says he's back at 100 percent following a right (throwing) thumb injury suffered during a raucous game of Ultimate Frisbee this spring.
Yates, whom we have pegged as a potential sleeper quarterback nationally, will look to remain healthy in 2009 as injuries have proven to be an albatross during first two seasons in Chapel Hill.

 T.J. Yates - QBApr. 26 - 6:00 pm et
North Carolina quarterback T.J. Yates sprained his right (throwing hand) thumb playing Ultimate Frisbee on Wednesday. Yes, you read that correctly...Ultimate Frisbee.
Yes, you read that correctly...Ultimate Frisbee. The injury will take six weeks to heal, but he should be ready for fall camp.

 Dwight Jones - WRMar. 28 - 11:00 pm et
North Carolina wide receiver Dwight Jones continues to make his mark this spring leading all Tar Heel wide receivers in Saturday's scrimmage with three catches for 61 yards and a score.
The 6-4 Jones was a promising prep school recruit last year that spent the year on the bench. With heavy loses to the wide receiving core in the offseason, his role should increase in 2009.

 Jamal Womble - RBMar. 28 - 11:00 pm et
Redshirt freshman running back Jamal Womble lead all rushers with 50 yards on seven carries in North Carolina's scrimmage on Saturday. "We were looking eagerly as to the quality level Jamal Womble could bring depth to the running back position," said coach Butch Davis.
Womble will be in the mix with fellow running backs Shaun Draughn and Ryan Houston this fall. The high probability of split carries makes a Tar Heel running back a risky draft day proposition.

 Dwight Jones - WRMar. 4 - 12:15 am et
North Carolina coach Butch Jones is looking for men to step up and replace the big voids left with the departures of wide receivers Hakeem Nicks, Brandon Tate and Brooks Foster, and Dwight Jones may be one ready to make an impact.
Coach Jones mentioned Dwight Jones first when speaking of the wide receiver group, and with so many questions in the UNC passing game we'll analyze anything in hopes of finding T.J. Yates' number one target in 2009.

 Anthony Parker-Boyd - WRFeb. 19 - 6:15 pm et
North Carolina wide receiver/scout team quarterback Anthony Parker-Boyd has been dismissed from the program for violating team rules.
Parker-Boyd had very little impact last season, and it's uncertain what role he would've played in 2009.

 Mike Paulus - QBJan. 22 - 5:00 pm et
North Carolina quarterback Mike Paulus may be pondering a transfer.
We normally don't like to deal in rumors, but this one seems to have some legitimacy. Paulus appears locked into a backup role behind T.J. Yates, and the fact that the Heel's other quarterback, Cam Sexton, has transferred adds further fuel to the fire that Yates is the clear cut leader to start.

 Cameron Sexton - QBJan. 15 - 10:00 am et
Quarterback Cameron Sexton has decided to transfer from North Carolina.
Sexton has one year of eligibility remaining. Which means he will have to transfer to a Div-II school in order play out his last year.

 Hakeem Nicks - WRJan. 5 - 12:00 pm et
North Carolina wide receiver has decided to depart Chapel Hill and enter the 2009 NFL draft.
Anyone who saw the talented Nicks dominate the West Virginia defense in the Meineke Car Care Bowl knew he was ready to take his act to the NFL. UNC will have a tough time replacing his 1,222 receiving yards and 12 scores.

 Hakeem Nicks - WRDec. 28 - 1:30 am et
Junior North Carolina wide receiver Hakeem Nicks caught eight passes for 217 yards and three scores in the 30-31 loss to West Virginia.
Nicks has had a tremendous season finishing with over 1200 yards receiving and 13 total touchdowns. Nicks has the size and speed to be a top NFL prospect and with a performance like today, we think Nicks is headed to the 2009 NFL draft.
