 Cam Montgomery - RBOct. 15 - 1:45 pm et
North Texas beat writer Brett Vito says that running back Cam Montgomery (hamstring) will be back this week against Florida Atlantic.  
What does that mean for Lance Dunbar?  Montgomery will eat into his carries, but the way Dunbar has produced, it will be impossible to leave him on the bench.  We won't know exactly the split until it plays out on the field.

North Texas running back Lance Dunbar gained 224 yards from scrimmage and scored four times as the Mean Green lost another one, this time to Louisiana-Lafayette.  Dunbar was filling in for Cam Montgomery who injured his hamstring in practice earlier in the week.
Dunbar now has seven touchdowns on the season, with six coming in his last two games. He's officially one to grab.

 Giovanni Vizza - QBFeb. 20 - 4:15 pm et
Former North Texas quarterback Giovanni Vizza will enroll at Texas A&M this summer.
Vizz is currently at Blinn College, where he's taking nine credits prior to his enrollment at A&M. There is no word on if and when he'll become a part of the Aggie football program. If he does join the team he'll need to sit out the 2009 campaign.

Former North Texas quarterback Giovanni Vizza will transfer to Texas A&M, and he'll use his redshirt season in 2009.
This is an interesting move. Many believed Vizza didn't have BCS arm strength, but clearly coach Mike Sherman sees something in the refugee from North Texas. If Sherman is still around in 2010 then Vizza could be a nice fit in a west coast offense that places a premium on accuracy.

Starting quarterback Giovanni Vizza has decided to transfer from North Texas. "It's just my time to leave the program," Vizza said. "The program is just not what I expected and is just not the right fit for me now."
Very interesting turn of events considering Vizza has led the Mean Green the last two seasons. Keep in mind freshman quarterback Riley Dodge, coach Todd Dodge's son, signed on with the program last spring. We don't know if this was a factor in Vizza's decision.

North Texas junior running back Cam Montgomery has gained 525 yards from scrimmage and scored twice in the Mean Green's last four games.
Coach Todd Dodge is pleased with the former JUCO's growth, and owners may want to impress their friends and give this back a shot if in need of running back help.

 Sam Dibrell - WROct. 2 - 6:15 pm et
North Texas wide receiver Sam Dibrell has decided to leave the North Texas football program.
Dibrell told Coach Dodge on Tuesday that he didn't want to play anymore, and based on the tone of his comments, Dodge seems a little peeved. Dibrell was a solid producer for the Mean Green, and now Roderick Johnson will apparently move into Dibrell's starting role. It's safe to say that Dibrell got the hell out of Dodge...BAM!

North Texas wide receiver Casey Fitzgerald (shoulder) is expected to be back this week against Rice.
Fitzgerald should be a nice option at wide receiver this week for fantasy owners.

The MRI on North Texas wide receiver Casey Fitzgerald showed no significant damage to his shoulder.
Fitzgerald will be ready to go when North Texas tackles Rice on September 27.

North Texas sophomore running back Micah Mosley has been named the starter, though he'll share time with Cam Montgomery.
Although residing in a pass-first offense, Mosley may have fantasy value as the season progresses.

If Vizza can improve his consistency then he becomes a very enticing fantasy quarterback.

North Texas' Giovanni Vizza is our 36th rated fantasy quarterback for the 2008 season.
Giovanni Vizza took over at the 1/4 pole for Todd Dodge's spread offense and didn't look back. Vizza's high point was an 8 touchdown day against Navy. However the true freshman was wildy inconsistent and not a safe fantasy start. Conventional wisdom would suggest he will only get better, but we are a bit concerned he'll have to fend off Riley Dodge (yes the coaches son) this year.

North Texas' Casey Fitzgerald is our 8th rated fantasy wide receiver for the 2008 season.
Year two of the Coach Dodge system should see more of the same from Mr. Fitzgerald. 111-1322-12 isn't the easiest to duplicate, but when one considers the increased familiarity with the offense, and the anticipated growth of sophomore quarterback Giovanni Vizza, it appears very feasible that Fitzgerald's 2008 will look very much like, if not better than, his 2007. You won't get to see him much on television, but word of his five-score performance against Navy, like sightings of Sasquatch, spread regardless. In other words, his gaudy stats will still count, and that's all you need to know. A top-ten wide receiver.

North Texas running back Jamario Thomas ran 16 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 27-26 victory over Western Kentucky.
The Mean Green needed production from the running game today as quarterback Giovanni Vizza threw three interceptions.

North Texas receiver Casey Fitzgerald caught six balls for 118 yards and a score.
Included in Fitzgerald's numbers is a 99-yard touchdown reception. Fitzgerald now has seven scores on the season, and he's on the cusp of 1000 yards.

QB Daniel Meager was named the starter today by first year Head Coach Todd Dodge.
Dodge is bringing a wide-open spread attack from the Texas high school ranks. Meager can be expected to improve upon his eight TDs over the last two seasons. He is not expected to be a major fantasy factor.

Quarterback Daniel Meager threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns during Sunday's spring scrimmage.
Head coach Todd Dodge is taking over UNT this season after a great career as a high school coach at Southlake Carroll. He has promised to bring a high-octane offense which could lead to Meager being worthy of owning in fantasy leagues.

Jamario Thomas rushed for 23 yards on nine carries and had a big fumble in tonight's game against Troy.
Thomas who was the NCAA rushing champion last season has been a huge disappointment. If you have him on your roster it might be time to set him free.

Jamario Thomas is almost recovered from the hamstring injury that limited him last week vs. Kansas State.
The great duo of Thomas and Patrick Cobb hasn't exactly lived up to pre-season expectations. They have rushed for less than 400 yards combined in the first three games for the Mean Green.

Jamario Thomas and Patrick Cobb will both be starters this season who will share a heavy workload.
It will be interesting to see how North Texas divides the carries. We guess whoever has the ''hot-hand'' in the game will get most of the carries that day.
