 Colin Kaepernick - QBJan. 28 - 5:45 pm et
According to Reno-Journal Gazette sources, head coach Chris Ault could be in jeopardy of losing his job if the Wolfpack don't contend for the WAC title next season.
Ault has been the coach of the Wolfpack for the past six seasons, but has coached the team for 25 seasons total.  He has a 206-95-1 all-time record and is 43-32 since his return in 2004.

 Brandon Wimberly - WRDec. 25 - 6:00 pm et
Nevada wide receiver Brandon Wimberly had seven catches for 80 yards and a late touchdown in the Wolpack's Hawaii Bowl loss to SMU.
Wimberly clearly became quarterback Colin Kaepernick's favorite target as the year progressed, but finished with just 54 catches, 733 yards and six touchdowns.  At 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, Wimberly has the size to go up and make catches, and the speed to be a consistent deep threat with more looks.  Maybe the Wolfpack look to pass more next year with some backfield turnover looming.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBDec. 25 - 5:45 pm et
Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a disappointing performance against SMU in the Hawaii Bowl, finishing with 177 yards passing and one score.  He was intercepted once and rushed for just 23 yards.
With Nevada's top two running backs sitting out, Kaepernick figured to have a monster game in what should have been a shootout.  Boy were we wrong as the Wolfpack were dominated from start to finish.  Kaepernick went over 1000 yards rushing and 2000 passing again this season, and will undoubtably be a first round pick in 2010.  But he was largely a feast or famine player this season, and some managers may prefer a more consistent option.

 Vai Taua - RBDec. 20 - 12:45 am et
Nevada running back Vai Taua has been ruled academically ineligible and will not travel with the team to Hawaii to play SMU.
With Luke Lippincott also out, Lampford Mark and Mike Ball will have to pick up the slack. It also means the Wolfpack will have to rely even more heavily on quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

 Luke Lippincott - RBDec. 8 - 8:15 am et
Nevada running back Luke Lippincott will miss the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl due to a broken toe.
With Lippincott out, running back Vai Taua and quarterback Colin Kaepernick should see even more carries against SMU.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBDec. 7 - 11:00 am et
SMU and Nevada will play in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24 at 8 p.m.
Christmas comes early for fantasy owners as fantasy options in this one are aplenty.  SMU's 87th ranked rush defense will be tested by Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick, running back Vai Taua and running back Luke Lippincott.  On the other side, SMU's passing offense, led by wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, will look to exploit Nevada's 119th ranked pass defense.  Quarterback Kyle Padron, running back Shawnbrey McNeal and wide receiver Aldrick Robinson are also solid fantasy options.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBNov. 28 - 11:00 am et
Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick had three touchdown passes and 141 yards in a loss to Boise State.
The Bronco defense forced Kaepernick to try and beat them with his arm. The big QB was held to 31 yards rushing on 16 carries.  Be thankful for the scores, because they salvaged what could have been a disastrous evening for the fantasy star in some leagues' championship week.

 Vai Taua - RBNov. 28 - 11:00 am et
Nevada running back Vai Taua carried 24 times for 160 yards and a touchdown in a loss at Boise State.  Taua longest run was a 71-yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter.
Not a bad showing as Boise clearly set out to stop the Wolfpack ground attack.  Fellow running back Luke Lippincott saw just one carry.

 Luke Lippincott - RBNov. 22 - 2:45 pm et
Nevada running back Luke Lippincott ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns as the Wolfpack rolled up 574 yards and seven scores on the ground against New Mexico State.
Vai Taua had 126 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Colin Kaepernick added 114 yards and two scores.  Kaepernick also threw for two touchdowns as the Wolfpack became the first school in NCAA history to have three 1000-yard rushers.  They'll take the ground assault north to the smurf turf of Boise next Friday in what figures to be a highly entertaining contest.

 Vai Taua - RBNov. 14 - 8:15 pm et
Nevada running back Vai Taua ran 17 times for 179 yards and scored two of the Wolfpack's seven rushing touchdowns against Fresno State.
Who needs to throw the ball?  A week after rushing for 517 yards, Nevada ran for 461 tonight.  Running back Luke Lippincott had 149 yards and three scores, and quarterback Colin Kaepernick added 95 yards and two more TDs.  The Wolfpack haven't lost since September 25th, and have a date with New Mexico State prior to their showdown at Boise State.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBOct. 25 - 1:00 am et
Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick accounted for six touchdowns tonight against Idaho.
It's safe to say Kaepernick's early season slump is over, as he went 13 of 21 for 178 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while adding 230 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.  Kaepernick is a clear option next week at home against Hawaii.

 Vai Taua - RBOct. 7 - 7:00 pm et
Nevada running back Vai Taua (elbow) is expected back this weekend against Louisiana Tech.
The Wolfpack are sure to rack up yards on the ground against the nation's 105th ranked rush defense.  The question is who will do the most damage Luke Lippincott, Mike Ball, Taua or quarterback Colin Kaepernick?  We assume Taua will have a limited role coming off the injury.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBOct. 4 - 9:15 pm et
Nevada rushed for an astounding 559  yards against UNLV on Saturday.   Running back Luke Lippincott finished with 170 yards and a score on 19 carries and quarterback Colin Kaepernick added 173 yards and a score on 17 carries.  But it was backup running back Mike Ball who stole the show with 184 yards and five scores on 15 carries.
"I give credit to the offensive line," said Ball. "My mother could have run through some of those holes."

 Vai Taua - RBOct. 1 - 12:15 pm et
Nevada running back Vai Taua (elbow) will likely sit out Saturday's game against UNLV.  "As of right now, Vai is not going to play," coach Chris Ault said, but it is not as serious as we thought."
The news is encouraging regarding Taua's status for the WAC opener against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 8.  Luke Lippincott is a viable option this week against UNLV.

 Vai Taua - RBSep. 27 - 6:30 pm et
The diagnosis for Nevada running back Vai Taua is a dislocated elbow.
It is unclear how long Taua will be out.  In the meantime, Luke Lippincott is a decent waiver wire option.

 Vai Taua - RBSep. 26 - 10:30 am et
Nevada running back Vai Taua left Friday night's game against Missouri in the first quarter after injuring his left elbow trying to field a punt.
Taua is on the sideline with an ice pack on his elbow and Luke Lippincott is in at tailback.

 Brandon Wimberly - WRSep. 20 - 9:45 am et
Nevada  wide receiver Brandon Wimberly showed off his abilities Saturday in a 35-20 road loss to the Colorado State Rams, grabbing seven receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown to lead all Nevada receivers on the day.
Wimberly is one to watch, especially for keeper leagues, as he appears to be developing into one of quarterback Colin Kaepernick's favorite targets early on in the season.

 Colin Kaepernick - QBSep. 20 - 9:45 am et
Junior Nevada Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick continued to struggle under center Saturday in a 35-20 road loss to Colorado State, completing 25 of 38 for 251 yards and a touchdown, but also throwing two interceptions and only amassing 24 yards of rushing on seven carries.
One of the WAC's best quarterbacks hasn't been able to get into a rhythm through the first two games of the year, and now has a disturbing 1:4 touchdown to interception ratio while also producing limited numbers on the ground.

 Vai Taua - RBSep. 20 - 9:30 am et
Junior Nevada Wolf Pack running back Vai Taua  rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 35-20 loss on the road to the Colorado State Rams.
Noteworthy in this performance is the fact that Taua only touched the ball 14 times for the game, while Luke Lippincott took nine carries for 52 yards.  With LIppincott back from an injury in 2008, it appears Taua overall effectiveness is going to be limited as carries are now being spread out.

 Vai Taua - RBSep. 6 - 8:00 am et
Though the Nevada Wolfpack aerial attack struggled to get anything established in a 35-0 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Saturday afternoon, its generally dominating ground game still managed to turn heads, with starting tailback Vai Taua netting 114 yards on 18 carries and adding three receptions for 38 yards.
At least Taua was capable of accomplishing something that the rest of the Nevada offense seemed unable to do: consistently move the ball, with an average of 6.3 yards a carry.  Given additional opportunities to work with the ball, Taua and the Wolfpack may have been a bit more of a threat in this game.  Still, it is promising to see the junior putting up the kinds of numbers he did against such a stifling defense.
