 Mike Kafka - QBDec. 31 - 3:15 pm et
"I feel great about getting some running plays in and scrambling and doing what I'm best at," Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka said after practice on Wednesday.  Kafka tweaked his hamstring against Penn State in week nine and his rushing attempts since then have been limited.
With a lack of production from the running back spot this season, Kafka is going to have to come up big if they hope to knock off Auburn.  Expect him to see plenty of carries as well has putting it up in the air a whole bunch.

 Mike Kafka - QBNov. 21 - 11:15 pm et
Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns in an upset win over Wisconsin.
It was the second straight 300-yard game by Kafka, and just the second time since 1995 that Northwestern has bagged at least eight wins in back to back seasons.

 Mike Kafka - QBNov. 5 - 8:30 pm et
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg reports that Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka (hamstring) is not listed on this week's injury report, and this is a good thing.
Kafka left last week's game with Penn State and things promptly went south for the Wildcats. Despite his expected participation, he's not a very nice starting option against what should be an angry and inspired Hawkeye defense.

 Mike Kafka - QBNov. 2 - 7:15 pm et
The Chicago Tribune reports that Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka, who left Saturday's loss to Penn State with what is believed to be a hamstring injury, texted his father that he was ok and that he plans on playing next week.
Well, there you have it, right from Kafka's father's own cellphone. Kafka should be good to go against Iowa this weekend. The Wildcat attack fell apart without their senior leader, but you'll still want to avoid Kafka and his teammates this week in Iowa City.

 Mike Kafka - QBNov. 1 - 8:15 pm et
Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka left Saturday's loss to Penn State in the second quarter, and coach Pat Fitzgerald told reporters that he'll "talk about it on Tuesday."
The Northwestern offense was stagnant following the loss of their leader, and any missed time will have a considerable impact on the Wildcat attack.

 Mike Kafka - QBOct. 25 - 12:30 am et
Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, while providing another 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a comeback win over Indiana.
The Wildcats trailed 28-3 before the magic started, and ended with Northwestern on top 29-28.  Kafka did throw three interceptions, but the positives outweigh the negatives in this one.

 Zeke Markshausen - WROct. 17 - 11:15 pm et
Northwestern wide receiver Zeke Markshausen had a career day, catching 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Michigan State.
Markhausen has quietly been producing for the Wildcats.  Although it was his first touchdown, he now has 50 receptions for the season.   If you are in a PPR league, he may be of value.

 Stephen Simmons - RBOct. 1 - 9:00 pm et
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg reports that Northwestern running back Stephen Simmons (ankle) is out for this week's game against Purdue.
Look for Jacob Schmidt or one of our favorites, true freshman Arby Fields, to see the majority of carries.

Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka finally had a solid fantasy day, accounting for four touchdowns (three passing) in Saturday's loss to Syracuse.

 Stephen Simmons - RBSep. 17 - 11:45 pm et
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg reports that Northwestern running back Stephen Simmons (leg) is listed as questionable for this week's game with Syracuse.
Simmons is developing into a solid Big Ten fantasy back, and this injury is certainly one that should cause owners to look for another running back starter.

 Mike Kafka - QBAug. 3 - 4:45 pm et
Coach Pat Fitzgerald will tailor Northwestern's offense to fit the skill set of new starting quarterback Mike Kafka.  “His strengths are that he’s got tremendous athleticism,” Fitzgerald said.
Look for Northwestern to resemble the 2000 & 2001 version when Zak Kustok and Damien Anderson ran the read option to near perfection.  Because of Kafka's ability to run, he is one of the top sleeper quarterbacks for 2009.

 Mike Kafka - QBJul. 27 - 12:15 pm et
Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said that the team will play to quarterback Mike Kafka's strengths, and these include his ability to tuck it and run, though coach was quick to point out that his quarterback is a much better passer than many believe.
Kafka is a solid quarterback prospect in Big Ten-heavy leagues.

 Jeravin Matthews - WRApr. 13 - 3:00 pm et
Jeravin Matthews led all Northwestern running backs with 113 yards on 15 carries in Saturday's scrimmage. Matthews is making the switch from the wide receiver position.
Matthews is a name to remember; he could push projected starter Stephen Simmons for playing time this fall.

 Stephen Simmons - RBApr. 10 - 11:30 am et
Northwestern running back Stephen Simmons and quarterback Mike Kafka appear to have a stranglehold on the starting spots this fall.
Neither comes as a surprise, but it's just good to have confirmation. Both are sleeper picks in your 2009 draft.

 Tyrell Sutton - RBDec. 27 - 3:15 pm et
Northwestern running back Tyrell Sutton (broken wrist) will start the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29 against Missouri. Sutton will wear a brace to protect his left wrist.
Sutton is a bit of a fantasy risk since he has not played in a while and we just don't know how much of the load he will be asked to carry. But if you like to gamble, Sutton is a nice sleeper pick this bowl season.
