 Landry Jones - QBJan. 19 - 8:00 pm et
Oklahoma will host their annual Red-White spring game on April 17.  The Sooners will kick off spring practice on March 9.
One of the hot position battles to watch will be at quarterback where Landry Jones will look to fend off a number of rivals.  We assume Jones' experience from last year will help his cause.

 DeMarco Murray - RBJan. 16 - 12:30 am et
Now that the pesky Chris Brown has graduated, Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray is chomping at the bit to carry the load for the Sooners.
It appears that Murray is returning to school with something to prove, and this is good news for fantasy owners.

 Jameel Owens - WRJan. 13 - 6:30 pm et
Tulsa wide receiver Jameel Owens is on campus and seeking a waiver to play for the Golden Hurricanes in 2010.  Owens recently transferred from Oklahoma.
Rarely do these cases get approved but Owens transferred to be closer to his ailing mother, and the NCAA has made exceptions in these cases.  If he is allowed to play early, Owens has the talent to be a force in Conference USA.

 DeMarco Murray - RBJan. 3 - 11:00 am et
In looking forward to the Sooner offense next season, Jake Trotter of The Oklahoman points to the skill talent returning around Landry Jones. And Trotter writes, "If DeMarco Murray returns for his senior season, as expected, OU will boast a battle-tested runner."
It's Trotter's inclusion of "as expected" that is interesting. Obviously only Murray knows what his future holds, however the fact that Trotter and others are thinking that Murray will return is a good sign.

 Ryan Broyles - WRJan. 1 - 12:00 pm et
Following his dominant performance in the Sun Bowl victory over Stanford, Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles was asked about his plans for next season. He told Tulsa World, "I'll be here."
Though a sophomore, Broyles is draft-eligible because he redshirted his first year in Norman. His statement that he'll be back is great news for Sooner fans and fantasy owners, though Broyles has until the January 15 NFL Draft deadline to ponder his options for next year.

 Landry Jones - QBJan. 1 - 2:45 am et
Those watching the Sun Bowl saw Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones limp off the field after being sacked on the game's final play, but he tells Tulsa World that he's "fine."
It didn't look pretty, but it appears that Jones didn't suffer a serious injury. And he'll be the favorite to emerge as the Sooner starting quarterback, though incoming freshman Blake Bell could make things interesting.

 Landry Jones - QBDec. 31 - 3:15 pm et
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops stated earlier this month that the starting quarterback job for 2010 will be up for grabs this spring.  As Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman points outs, this means today's Sun Bowl is a critical game for current starter Landry Jones.  "Victory over Stanford in the Sun Bowl would empower Jones’ re-election campaign," Tramel writes.
It is easy to be critical of the Jones after an erratic season in which he's thrown 13 interceptions.  But keep in mind Jones was thrust into action after Sam Bradford's shoulder injury.  Jones has 23 passing touchdowns on the year and the season of experience should certainly help in his development.

 DeMarco Murray - RBDec. 28 - 3:30 pm et
Oklahoma junior running back DeMarco Murray has yet to play in a bowl game, though he'll get the chance this year against Stanford.  Murray redshirted his first year and then missed the last two due to injury. "It’s very exciting,” said Murray.  "I feel like this could be a huge game for me.”
There is a lot of talk about a potential lack of motivation for the Sooners, but that won't be the case for Murray.  Teams have typically attacked the Cardinal through the air, but their overall defense sets up well for all Sooner players.

 Landry Jones - QBDec. 22 - 4:00 pm et
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops hinted that the starting quarterback position will be up for grabs next spring/fall.  "It's a signal to the competition," said Stoops when asked about the Sooners targeting high profile quarterback recruits.
Oklahoma is one the teams courting Cameron Newton, the ex-Florida Gator and future JUCO transfer.  It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out, but unless Newton comes in, Landry Jones will be tough to unseat.

 DeMarco Murray - RBDec. 18 - 8:00 pm et
Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has decided to forgo his senior season and enter the 2010 NFL draft.
McCoy will join fellow teammate/quarterback Sam Bradford on the early entry list.  The watch is still on for running back DeMarco Murray.

 DeMarco Murray - RBDec. 16 - 11:30 pm et
Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray tells Tulsa World that he still hasn't made up his mind about whether he'll return for his senior season or declare for the NFL Draft.
Murray said he consulted with Sam Bradford to gain more insight into the situation. This alone would lead us to believe that Murray may indeed declare, that is unless Sam Bradford doesn't like him.

 Jameel Owens - WRDec. 15 - 10:45 pm et
Oklahoma wide receiver Jameel Owens has decided to transfer to Tulsa.
The sophomore will sit out 2010 and suit up for the Golden Hurricane in 2011. He's definitely a name for fantasy owners to file away as the talent is certainly present.

 DeMarco Murray - RBDec. 14 - 9:30 am et
Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray told Tulsa World that he believes everyone is "fired up to play" to play in the Sun Bowl against Stanford.
The Sooner upperclassmen have played in huge bowl games in their careers (including last year's BCS title game) so it's hard to envision a team overly jacked to play in El Paso on New Year's Eve. And a whole bunch of Toby Gerhart may see the Sooner defense looking towards next year as well.

 Sam Bradford - QBNov. 30 - 8:15 pm et
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops once again had to address rumors that he could be a consideration for the open Notre Dame job.  "I fully intend to be at Oklahoma, hopefully, for a good while," Stoops said Monday. "What I'm saying is I'm going to be at Oklahoma next year. I can't be in two places at once."
While you can never fully trust everything that is said during this time of year, there seems no plausible reason to believe Stoops would head to Notre Dame.

 Ryan Broyles - WRNov. 28 - 11:00 pm et
Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles caught nine passes for 103 yards and added 209 yards in punt returns, including an 89-yard touchdown in Saturday's 27-0 win over in-state rival Oklahoma State.
The Sooner offense was complimented with a solid running game behind the legs of DeMarco Murray. Murray had 13 carries for 72 yards and two touchdowns in the lopsided victory.

 Brandon Caleb - WRNov. 25 - 8:15 pm et
Oklahoma wide receiver Brandon Caleb (ankle) played a little special teams last week, and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson tells Tulsa World that they'll try to ease him into the wide receiver rotation against Oklahoma State.
Caleb has struggled to return from his bum ankle, and it doesn't appear he'll play a prominent role this weekend.

 Landry Jones - QBNov. 24 - 10:00 pm et
With much criticism coming the way of quarterback Landry Jones after the loss to Texas Tech, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has come to his defense.  “I don’t think it’s fair to judge one guy. There isn’t one guy anywhere that’s going to move the football by himself,” Stoops said. “You’ve got to have guys catch the ball for him, you’ve got to have protection and guys run it for him. I don’t know how you can just judge one guy.”
Jones has been put in the unenviable position of having to learn on the fly.  With a chance to catch his breath in the off-season and more reps this spring, Jones should cut down on his inconsistent play.

 Ryan Broyles - WRNov. 23 - 9:45 am et
Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles enjoyed a nice little celebration following his touchdown against Texas Tech; the fact that his team was down 34-6 at the time didn't seem to bother the wide receiver.
Jake Trotter of The Oklahoman sees this as an example of the lack of focus that has played a part in the Sooner struggles. This is a young team that has been hit by injuries and made plenty of mental mistakes, and one would think that these growing pains will lead to better decisions in 2010.

 Ryan Broyles - WRNov. 22 - 7:00 pm et
Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles had seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 41-13 loss to Texas Tech.
This performance marks Broyles' sixth game with over 100 yards of total offense this season for the sophomore.

 Brandon Caleb - WRNov. 17 - 9:30 pm et
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said that wide receiver Brandon Caleb (ankle) is practicing and hopes to play this Saturday against Texas Tech.
Caleb should only receive consideration in deep Big XII leagues...make that very deep Big XII leagues.
