 B.J. Daniels - QBFeb. 1 - 7:15 pm et
USF quarterback B.J. Daniels had successful surgery on his non-throwing shoulder and will not participate in any contact drills this spring.
Daniels is expected to be back at full strength by the summer, but the raw talent could have benefited from a full spring workload with new coach Skip Holtz.

 B.J. Daniels - QBJan. 14 - 4:45 pm et
Several reports state that South Florida has hired Skip Holtz as their next head coach. Holtz was previously the coach at East Carolina.
This seems like a good fit for both sides. It's a nice step up for Holtz, and USF gets a guy that has successfully built a solid program at ECU.

 B.J. Daniels - QBJan. 13 - 8:15 pm et
TampaBay.com reports that South Florida interviewed former NFL quarterback Doug Williams regarding their vacant head coaching job. The former Grambling star is currently serving in the Tampa Bay Bucs' front office.
Williams seems like a long shot to get the job.

 B.J. Daniels - QBJan. 13 - 8:15 pm et
South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels will not join the basketball team, instead he'll work solely on his football skills.
Daniels is one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects heading into next year, and he'll look to make considerable strides in 2010.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRJan. 9 - 10:45 am et
South Florida wide receiver Carlton Mitchell will leave school and enter the NFL Draft.
The 6-4 Mitchell has the size and speed coveted by NFL teams, and his loss will definitely be felt by B.J. Daniels and the offense.

 Mike Ford - RBJan. 8 - 12:15 pm et
ESPN sources are saying that South Florida has fired coach Jim Leavitt. Leavitt was being investigated by the school for allegedly striking running back Joel Miller. Miller has since said he only grabbed his shoulder pads and no harm was done.
We've entered a strange age in college football. Three high profile coaches have now been fired after allegedly treating their players unfairly: Leavitt, Mark Mangino (Kansas) and Mike Leach (Texas Tech). Coaches will be walking on eggshells in the coming months.

 Jamar Taylor - RBDec. 29 - 6:45 pm et
South Florida running back Jamar Taylor will not travel with the team to the International Bowl in Toronto due to passport issues.
Taylor is also still suffering from a knee injury.  Mike Ford and Moise Plancher are expected to carry the load.

 Jamar Taylor - RBDec. 23 - 10:30 am et
TampaBay.com reports South Florida running back Jamar Taylor (knee) has been working with the defense during bowl practices, thus we may be looking at a move to defense for the senior-to-be.
There are a whole bunch of running backs at South Florida, and more talent will arrive on campus for 2010, thus Taylor's best chance at making an impact may rest with tackling rather than avoiding being tackled.

 Moise Plancher - RBDec. 23 - 10:30 am et
South Florida running back Moise Plancher is seeking a sixth year of eligibility, and Tampa Bay Online reports that he is expected to enroll in classes while he waits for the NCAA decision.
Plancher's return would be a nice boost to a USF offense that was inconsistent during B.J. Daniels' first season at the helm.

 Moise Plancher - RBDec. 13 - 1:00 pm et
South Florida may seek a sixth year of eligibility for running back Moise Plancher.

 Mike Ford - RBDec. 12 - 4:00 pm et
"You don't want to do anything wrong, ever, in life," South Florida coach Jim Leavitt said when talking about running back Mike Ford. "Mike was riding a moped, and he happened to ride his moped on a sidewalk. We know he's not supposed to ride a moped on the sidewalk. Also, he has to get his license. So we have really been on him about that, and we want to get that corrected. Will that keep him out of a bowl game? Probably not. Usually moped incidents are not things I'd keep him out of a bowl (for)."
I have no idea why, but picturing Leavitt talking about Ford riding a moped on a sidewalk made me laugh just a little.  Anyway, sounds like Ford will play in the International Bowl against Northern Illinois.

 Mike Ford - RBDec. 10 - 1:00 pm et
South Florida running back Mike Ford was arrested early Thursday morning for driving without a valid license.  Ford has been released on a $250 bond.
Ford is a talented runner who has yet to live up to the lofty expectations of some, namely us.  Ford's status for USF's bowl game against Northern Illinois is unknown.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRNov. 26 - 11:30 am et
South Florida coach Jim Leavitt told Tampa Bay Online that wide receiver Carlton Mitchell (ankle) has looked "ok" in practice, and the deep threat should play against Miami on Saturday.
If Mitchell is close to 100 percent his presence would certainly help stretch the Hurricane defense, though he's a considerable risk at this point in the fantasy season.

 B.J. Daniels - QBNov. 21 - 11:30 pm et
South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels threw for 304 yards, ran for 141, and had three total touchdowns in the win over Louisville.
This kid has a very bright future.  If you are in a protection league, you know what to do.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRNov. 20 - 4:00 pm et
South Florida wide receiver Carlton Mitchell (ankle) is probable for Saturday's game against Louisville.  "He's going to dress for the game," coach Jim Leavitt said. "How much he plays depends on how well he feels. He's getting close."
Mitchell is not a fantasy option this week, but his presence will help those that decide to start quarterback B.J. Daniels.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRNov. 19 - 8:45 am et
South Florida coach Jim Leavitt said that top wide receiver Carlton Mitchell (ankle sprain) "might not play" this Saturday against Louisville.
It's a good idea to keep Mitchell on your bench this week.

 B.J. Daniels - QBNov. 13 - 11:00 am et
South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels threw for just 129 yards with two interceptions in the 31-0 loss to Rutgers Thursday night.
Rutgers held the Bulls to just 159 total yards in a very impressive showing.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRNov. 12 - 11:15 am et
South Florida wide receiver Carlton Mitchell (ankle) will not play against Rutgers on Thursday.
Look for USF to take a by-committee approach in an attempt to fill in for Mitchell, though his talent will be hard to replace.

 B.J. Daniels - QBNov. 9 - 10:15 pm et
South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels told The Tampa Tribune that he still plans on playing basketball for Stan Heath's Bulls once the football season ends.
With his emergence as a star on the gridiron, there seems a very good chance that someone could convince Daniels that playing a few minutes here and there on the hardwood could prove detrimental to his development as a quarterback.

 Carlton Mitchell - WRNov. 9 - 2:15 pm et
South Florida's leading receiver, Carlton Mitchell, (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday night's game against Rutgers.  “He’s doubtful,” Leavitt said. “We’re not planning on him, so we’ll see. But, you know, those things are funny; you don’t know how it’ll work out.”
Mitchell's absence would also be a blow to quarterback B.J. Daniels as Mitchell has turned into the Bulls' top deep threat this season.
