 Kyle Reed - QBDec. 16 - 11:15 pm et
San Jose State will name Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre as its new head coach, this according to a report in The Sane Jose Mercury News.
Interesting hire as it appeared that SJSU was going to go in an offensive direction. All jokes about the Duke football tradition aside, many reports have MacIntyre as a top national assistant.

 Kyle Reed - QBDec. 15 - 11:00 am et
The Seattle Times reports that Washington offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier will not pursue the vacant head coaching job at SJSU; instead he'll return to call plays for the Locker-led offense in Seattle.
San Jose State seems to be favoring offensive-minded coaches as they look to replace Dick Tomey, but they'll have to keep looking.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRDec. 12 - 2:45 pm et
A Bay Area NBC affiliate reports that Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain has interviewed for the vacant job at San Jose State.
San Jose State is looking to replace Dick Tomey.

 Kyle Reed - QBNov. 24 - 9:45 am et
San Jose State will likely have a new starting quarterback, Kyle Reed, and new starting running back, Patrick Perry, when they take on New Mexico State on Saturday.  They will replace Jordan La Secla and Lamon Muldrow due to performance.
Reed is no stranger to the starting position.  But at this point we would not consider San Jose State players fantasy considerations.

Jordan La Secla - QBNov. 3 - 3:30 am et
Despite struggling against Boise State, San Jose State quarterback Jordan La Secla will remain the team's starter.
There has been speculation that Kyle Reed would supplant La Secla as the starter at some point, however the incumbent is hanging on to the job; regardless this does little good for fantasy owners.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRSep. 20 - 10:45 am et
San Jose State Spartans senior wideout Kevin Jurovich proved SJSU's only offensive weapon Saturday in a 42-17 road loss to the Stanford Cardinal, taking nine receptions for 103 yards on the day.
Saturday provided Jurovich with his second-straight 100+ yard day receiving this season, both of which came against superior defenses (Utah in week two, Stanford in week three). Expect his numbers to only elevate once conference play kicks in two weeks versus the Idaho Vandals.

Jordan La Secla - QBSep. 20 - 10:45 am et
The struggle continues at quarterback for the San Jose State Spartans, with junior Jordan La Secla going 17 of 30 for 155 yards, a touchdown, and an interception Saturday  in a 42-17 road loss to the Stanford Cardinal, La Secla's first career start under center.
Nothing seems to be working for the Spartans offensively through three games, with neither the passing or rushing attacks producing much worthy of notice.

Jordan La Secla - QBSep. 14 - 10:15 pm et
San Jose State coach Dick Tomey has decided to start Jordan La Secla at quarterback against Stanford after Kyle Reed struggled against USC and Utah.
Hard to criticize Reed too much for struggles against the first two foes, and it seems like Tomey is looking for a spark. Look for both quarterbacks to play, and neither presents too much fantasy promise.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRAug. 20 - 6:30 pm et
"He's just a big-time player," San Jose State coach Dick Tomey said of wide receiver Kevin Jurovich. "And you only have so many of them."
Jurovich missed all of the 2008 season with mono, but it looks like he is healthy and ready to go for 2009.

 Kyle Reed - QBAug. 16 - 6:45 am et
San Jose State coach Dick Tomey is in no hurry to name a starting quarterback between Kyle Reed and Jordan La Secla. "It's a great feeling knowing that we have a good chance to win with two guys," Tomey said. "We're going to go into the (Southern Cal) game with two guys."
We have Reed penciled in as the starter, but hold off on drafting a Spartan quarterback for now.

 Kyle Reed - QBAug. 6 - 10:15 am et
Regarding quarterbacks Kyle Reed and Jordan La Secla, San Jose State head coach Dick Tomey told the San Jose Mercury News that the team is "very comfortable saying that they'll play both early (in the regular season) if that's what we decide to do."
Reed is the incumbent while La Secla is the challenger.  We project that Reed will hold on to the job, though a huge fantasy season shouldn't be expected.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRApr. 26 - 6:00 pm et
San Jose State wide receiver Kevin Jurovich had six catches for 98 yards and a 64-yard touchdown in Saturday's spring game.
We've been cautiously optimistic about Jurovich's return from mononucleosis this spring. However, all signs are pointing to Juro returning at or near full strength.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRApr. 10 - 9:30 am et
According to Inside Sparta's Scott Cooley, San Jose State wide receiver Kevin Jurovich (mono) looks like he is back to full strength this spring.
This is good news for Jurovich, and it is finally safe to move him back up your draft boards.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRFeb. 24 - 2:00 pm et
San Jose State coach Dick Tomey confirmed that they will file paperwork to the Western Athletic Conference to request a medical redshirt for wide receiver Kevin Jurovich. Jurovich missed all but two games of the 2008 season with mononucleosis. "It would be a surprise if he were able to play again this year," Tomey said. "He has a very enlarged spleen, and that is very dangerous, and he's lost a considerable amount of weight."
As we mentioned in a piece a weeks ago, Jurovich has not used a redshirt year yet, and the NCAA usually looks favorably on these situations. The question is, how healthy Jurovich will be this fall? Jurovich is expected to join the team this spring, but he does not sound like he is ready to pick up where he left off in 2007. If he can regain his form, he is one of the top non-BCS wide receivers in the country.

 Kyle Reed - QBNov. 15 - 9:45 pm et
It was Kyle Reed, not Myles Eden, that got the start tonight against the Nevada Wolfpack, with the junior quarterback playing well in a 41-17 loss. For the day, Reed finished 15-of-27 for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
Reed moved the ball in large chunks, working primarily with wideouts Terrance Williams and David Richmond; he's got a strong arm, but has yet to put together a solid resume of consistency. Should he do so, SJSU's quarterback could turn into something big.

 Kyle Reed - QBNov. 14 - 3:45 pm et
San Jose will get starting quarterback Kyle Reed (tailbone) back this week against Nevada.
With Nevada's defense giving up 32 points per game, Reed could be a sleeper fantasy pick if you are digging deep into the waiver wire this week.

 Myles Eden - QBNov. 2 - 1:00 am et
With regular starting quarterback for San Jose State, Kyle Reed, out with a bruised tailbone, fellow junior Myles Eden was able to prove his abilities under center Saturday against the Idaho Vandals, passing for 295 yards and two touchdowns (one interception) in a 30-24 win on the road in Moscow.
Could there be a possible quarterback controversy arising from this game? Eden looked great under center and provides a more traditional Dick Toomey-like appearance to the SJSU offense. Watch this one carefully, as a lot of hype surrounded Eden in the preseason; he struggled majorly early on, but was excellent today versus Idaho.

 David Richmond - WRNov. 2 - 1:00 am et
With the loss of senior wide receiver Kevin Jurovich of the San Jose State Spartans because of mono, SJSU's coaching staff expected a much heavier load this year for fellow senior at wideout, David Richmond. An inconsistent passing game has kept Richmond marginalized for much of 2008, but proved fluid enough to provide the native of Anaheim, California with 138 yards receiving and two touchdowns in a 30-24 win over the Idaho Vandals this Saturday.
SJSU has been waiting for a go-to target at receiver, and Richmond was finally able to assert himself as such this afternoon, thanks in no small part to the passing of junior backup, Marcus Eden.

 Kevin Jurovich - WROct. 9 - 4:15 pm et
San Jose State star wide receiver is likely out for the rest of 2008 after complications from mononucleosis.
Hopefully Jurovich qualifies for a medical redshirt, as we'd like to see him on the field in 2009.

 Kevin Jurovich - WRSep. 23 - 6:00 pm et
San Jose State star receiver Kevin Jurovich is still not practicing, and if his bout with mono continues for the next few weeks then the senior could be looking at a medical redshirt.
San Jose State fans and fantasy owners have been bemoaning the loss of their stud receiver, and things are not looking very good for 2008.
