 Mike Williams - WRNov. 23 - 11:00 am et
According to ESPN sources, Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams has informed the school that he will not return next year and will enter the 2010 NFL draft.
After sitting out last year, Williams came back and was having a fine season with 49 catches for 746 yards and six scores through the first seven games.  That is until he quit the team earlier this month.

 Delone Carter - RBNov. 8 - 12:15 am et
Syracuse running back Delone Carter accounted for half of Syracuse's total offense, running 17 times for 143 yards in a loss to Pittsburgh.
Carter's two best yardage days of the year both came with Mike Williams not part of the offense.  Now that Williams is gone for good, the offensive philosophy shifts to Carter.

 Mike Williams - WRNov. 2 - 3:00 pm et
Top Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams has quit the football team, according to sources.
Nobody knows why just yet, but this is a shock to say the least.  Williams was suspended for the 10/24 game against Akron but returned last week. For the year, Williams was enjoying a nice season, with 49 receptions for 746 yards and six touchdowns.   This is a big loss to any Williams owner.

 Mike Williams - WROct. 27 - 10:15 pm et
Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams will play this week against Cincinnati.  Williams missed last week's game for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like an academic issue was the cause for the suspension.

 Delone Carter - RBOct. 25 - 12:30 am et
Syracuse running back Delone Carter ran for a career high 170 yards with three touchdowns in a win over Akron on Saturday.
With Mike Williams serving a one game suspension,  Syracuse gave the rock to Carter a season high 30 times.

 Mike Williams - WROct. 25 - 12:30 am et
Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams was suspended by head coach Doug Marrone for today's game due to a violation of team rules.
No doubt this caught several Williams owners off guard and left them unhappy.  Williams could have had a great day today against Akron.

Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams had four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown in the loss to West Virginia.

 Mike Williams - WROct. 8 - 2:15 am et
Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams, in the midst of a very nice season, says he plans on returning for his final year of eligibility in 2010.
Great to hear when a player decides to remain on campus, though we'll temper our excitement until the draft entry deadline passes. Williams already has 41 catches for 623 yards and five scores in 2009.

 Delone Carter - RBSep. 27 - 11:45 am et
Syracuse running back Delone Carter scored four touchdowns in the win over Maine Saturday evening.
He scored three of his touchdowns in the second half, helping Syracuse erase a 17-10 deficit and get the win.

 Mike Williams - WRSep. 20 - 10:45 am et
Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams had his long anticipated break out game, catching 11 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Northwestern.
Nobody has ever doubted Williams' ability.  Now that he is finally healthy, he should continue to do some damage in the Big East.

 Ryan Nassib - QBAug. 3 - 4:45 pm et
Former Duke point guard Greg Paulus has been working hard in the offseason in hopes of playing a role at quarterback for Syracuse this fall.  "I know he's worked extremely hard," Syracuse coach Doug Marrone said. "The ability to work hard and process information ... I've never personally been around a college athlete who has worked this hard off the field, in the classroom, on his own. I think he's gotten stronger."
While some are giving Paulus a shot at winning the starting job, we see this as unlikely.  There is a reason why  Marrone  announced redshirt freshman Ryan Nassib as the starter over a veteran incumbent this spring.  Paulus will be utilized in some capacity, but Marrone isn't looking for a one-year wonder.

 Marcus Sales - WRApr. 19 - 3:15 pm et
Sophomore wide receiver for the Syracuse Orange, Marcus Sales, led all wideouts in Saturday's spring game with 10 receptions, accumulating 100 yards by the end of the day.
Everyone has been talking about Mike Williams being the player to make or break the Orange this year, but it was Sales that stole the show on Saturday. With a consistent presence at quarterback, Sales could become a nice compliment to Williams.

 Ryan Nassib - QBApr. 19 - 1:30 pm et
Redshirt freshman quarterback for Syracuse, Ryan Nassib, was earlier this spring dubbed the Orangemen's starter under center, and showed why Saturday, hitting 17-of-25 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the afternoon's spring game.
The return of outstanding wide receiver Mike Williams to the Syracuse lineup could truly make Nassib a dangerous up-and-coming passer in the Big East in 2009. Definitely someone to keep an eye on, as surely not many have placed the redshirt freshmen on their watch lists as of yet.

 Mike Williams - WRApr. 17 - 12:15 pm et
According to Donnie Webb of The Post Standard, Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams dropped a handful of catches in a recent practice and looks a little "shaky" over the middle.
It's natural to assume that Williams, who missed the 2008 campaign while dealing with an academic issue, is just getting back into game shape and it will take awhile. Head coach Doug Marrone has another theory, telling Webb that Williams and others are struggling to catch the fastballs delivered by expected starting quarterback Ryan Nassib. Despite these struggles we expect Williams to lead this young squad's passing attack.

 Averin Collier - RBApr. 9 - 7:45 pm et
Syracuse running back Averin Collier is showing the ability to get the job done in short yardage situations, and it's looking like he could be very valuable when the Orangemen need the tough yards around the goal line.
New coach Doug Marrone tells Donnie Webb of Syracuse.com that Collier is "developing into a player that can find a role on this team and be helpful to us." Part of this role may be tossing the football to the ref and then celebrating with his teammates. Collier could emerge as a nice option in Big East leagues.

 Ryan Nassib - QBMar. 31 - 2:15 pm et
Ryan Nassib was named Syracuse's starting quarterback by new head coach Doug Marrone on Monday.
Not sure who Nassib is? Neither do we, he wasn't even in our database until 10 minutes ago. The fact that he beat out a veteran in Cameron Dantley tells us he must have some skills and we'll dig into it.

 Delone Carter - RBMar. 22 - 1:15 pm et
New Syracuse coach Doug Marrone has placed running back Delone Carter atop the running back depth chart.
Carter's season all but ended with a hamstring injury in the September loss to Penn State, and fellow returner Antwon Bailey ran well filling in for Curtis Brinkley. The fact that Carter is deemed the starter to kick off spring ball is a bit of a surprise, and we think the Syracuse offense is still looking at a split carry situation at tailback.

 Cameron Dantley - QBMar. 19 - 2:45 pm et
Rising senior quarterback Cameron Dantley will open spring practice as the number one quarterback at Syracuse.
There will be an open competition for the starting role, but the older guys will be given a fair shake to help the team "win now" under new coach Doug Marrone. Recruit Charley Loeb may end up being Dantley's top competition for the job, but he won't be in camp until the fall.

 Cameron Dantley - QBFeb. 5 - 5:45 pm et
New Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone introduced a very small class of only 14 recruits, and in doing so it appears he's setting a tone of quality over quantity and placing an emphasis on building a foundation.
Look for Marrone's next class to be much more impressive. Due to his late arrival on the scene he put a bunch of schollies in his pocket. Syracuse has a long way to go, but this is definitely a program to keep an eye on.

 Mike Williams - WRJan. 8 - 8:30 pm et
Wide receiver Mike Williams was readmitted to Syracuse University on Tuesday. Williams was suspended for the 2008 season for academic reasons.
Williams had 60 catches for 837 yards and 10 scores in 2007. No question this is a late Christmas present for new head coach Doug Marrone.
