 Taylor Potts - QBFeb. 6 - 4:45 pm et
"I don't know a lot about either one, as I've told them both before,"  new Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said of returning quarterbacks Taylor Potts and Steven Sheffield.
With a new sheriff in town, the competition for the starting gig should be wide open.  Although, the Texas Tech starting quarterback lost a bit of it's fantasy luster after Mike Leach was fired.

 Taylor Potts - QBJan. 26 - 8:30 pm et
Texas Tech has promoted Sonnie Cumbie from graduate assistant to inside receivers coach.
It has been a good couple of weeks for ex-Texas Tech quarterbacks.  Cumbie got a promotion at Tech and Kliff Kingsbury was promoted to quarterbacks coach at Houston.  With the hiring of Neal Brown as offensive coordinator and the promotion of Cumbie, Tech will continue to spread it out and throw the football.

 Adam James - TEJan. 21 - 8:00 pm et
ESPN ombudsman Don Ohlmeyer claims the network may not have been fair in its coverage of the Mike Leach / Adam James situation.  "News decisions in these cases must not be resolved by asking 'What's permissible for the employee?' but rather 'What's fair to the audience?'" Ohlmeyer said.
Ohlmeyer is obviously referencing the apparent bias in ESPN's reporting of the story due to the fact that James' father, Craig James, is an ESPN broadcaster.

“We’re going to air it out,’’ Texas Tech's new head coach Tommy Tuberville said. “We’re going to keep the ‘Air Raid.’ I think it’s something that Tech has hit upon that gives them that identity to recruit and we all want to have.’’
That all sounds good in theory, but can he execute it as well as former coach Mike Leach?  Tuberville has yet to announce who his offensive coordinator will be.

Tommy Tubberville interviewed for the vacant Texas Tech head coaching position on Tuesday.
Of all the names that are being thrown around, Tubberville, current assistant Ruffin McNeal or Arizona offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes seem like the most plausible candidates.

 Taylor Potts - QBJan. 5 - 9:45 am et
Arizona offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes said the Texas Tech head coaching position is “certainly something that you have to look at.”
Dykes is one of the many names being tossed around as a potential replacement for Mike Leach.  Others include current assistant coach Ruffin McNeill, our initial sleeper candidate Tommy Tubberville, former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden, Baylor coach Art Briles and Houston coach Kevin Sumlin. The farther down that list you go, the less likely the candidates seem.

 Detron Lewis - WRJan. 1 - 1:45 pm et
Texas Tech inside receivers coach Lincoln Riley will call the plays against Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl.  "There'll be a few things different," Riley said. "You can't do a whole lot just because of timing, but there'll be a few new wrinkles. The way I call things may be a little different than Mike. How it is exactly, I can't tell you. One because I don't know, and two, because I don't want Michigan State to know."
Don't expect to see huge changes. Tech is going to wing it, especially against a porous Spartan pass defense.  Being an inside receivers coach, will Riley show more love to inside receivers Detron Lewis and Tramain Swindalll than to outside guys like Alex Torres, Edward Britton and Lyle Leong?

 Taylor Potts - QBJan. 1 - 2:45 am et
Tony Barnhart of CBS Sports reports that former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville would be interested in receiving consideration for the Texas Tech coaching job.
We can't help but think that Texas Tech is going to be in the headlines a great deal over the next couple of months. One thing we know for sure is that the college fantasy goldmine at Texas Tech will never be the same.

 Adam James - TEDec. 30 - 5:00 pm et
Texas Tech has fired head coach Mike Leach.  Leach was previously suspended for the treatment of wide receiver Adam James.
Leach's relationship with athletic director Gerald Myers was on thin ice as it was and it looks like the James' incident gave Myers the opportunity get rid of Leach.  You can expect this to get uglier before it gets better, I don't see Leach taking this news lying down.

 Taylor Potts - QBDec. 29 - 6:45 pm et
ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's attorney is expected to file an injunction which would allow the suspended Leach to coach in the Alamo Bowl against Michigan State. There are also grumbling that Tech could fire Leach in the coming days. Leach is due a $800,000 bonus if he is the coach on Dec. 31.
I'm not a lawyer, but someone taking their employer to court doesn't sound good to me. The probability of Leach being the Red Raider coach is dropping by the minute.

 Taylor Potts - QBDec. 28 - 7:45 pm et
Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has been suspended and will not coach the Red Raiders in the Alamo Bowl against Michigan State. Defensive Coordinator Ruffin McNeill will run the ship. The action was taken after a player (Adam James) complained about his treatment following a concussion.
This could have implications on the future of Leach as the head coach at Texas Tech. He hasn't had the best of relationships with the school administration, as evidenced by the public contract negotiations before this season.

 Taylor Potts - QBDec. 8 - 7:15 pm et
Texas Tech coach Mike Leach says that Taylor Potts will start at quarterback in the Alamo Bowl against Michigan State.
Those holding on to Steven Sheffield in hopes that he could work his way into the starting role can scrap that idea.  Given the woes the Spartans' secondary has had this year, Potts is an excellent start.

 Taylor Potts - QBNov. 29 - 4:30 pm et
Texas Tech quarterback Taylor Potts was 31-of-49 for 269 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 20-13 win over Baylor.
Potts threw to eight different receivers, but both touchdown strikes went to junior Lyle Leong, who ended the day with 57 yards and the two scores on six receptions.

 Lyle Leong - WRNov. 29 - 4:15 pm et
Texas Tech wide receiver Lyle Leong hauled in two second half touchdowns from quarterback Taylor Potts.
Trying to find consistency out of Tech receivers this year has been a maddening process.  Leong has three multi-score games this year, but has also failed to reach the end zone eight games this season.

Quarterback Taylor Potts tops the Texas Tech depth chart for Saturday's game against Baylor.
This doesn't come as a surprise, but the way this season has been going we had to double check.

 Taylor Potts - QBNov. 22 - 7:00 pm et
Texas Tech quarterback Taylor Potts passed for 388 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 41-13 win over Oklahoma.
Potts' primary receiver in the game was Alexander Torres, who had 11 receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown. This marks just the second game of the season that Torres has passed the 100-yard mark.

 Baron Batch - RBNov. 22 - 7:00 pm et
Texas Tech running back Baron Batch had 136 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in Saturday's Red Raider rout of Oklahoma, 41-13.
Batch also had seven receptions for 68 yards, bringing him over the 200-yard mark in the game and giving the junior his best game of the season.

Quarterback Taylor Potts sits alone atop the Texas Tech depth chart for this Saturday's game against Oklahoma.
This is the first time in several weeks there is not an "or" between the top two quarterbacks.  Too bad Tech is playing the Sooner defense.

 Taylor Potts - QBNov. 19 - 4:45 pm et
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that Taylor Potts took most of the first team reps at quarterback in Texas Tech's practice on Wednesday.
Potts took most of the reps last week as well and got the start.  We assume he will start this Saturday against Oklahoma, but he is not a good fantasy option this week.

 Taylor Potts - QBNov. 16 - 8:30 pm et
Texas Tech coach Mike Leach says he should have stuck with quarterback Taylor Potts last week instead of inserting Steven Sheffield and reinserting Potts in the fourth quarter.
Leach is obviously feeling the same way we are, pick a quarterback and stick with it.  Unfortunately Leach hasn't picked a starter for this Saturday's game against Oklahoma.
