 Matt Asiata - RBDec. 25 - 5:45 pm et
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that "Utah's compliance directors have been told that running back Matt Asiata (ACL) has a very good chance at receiving a waiver" that would allow him to play a 6th year.
If Asiata does return he'll team with Eddie Wide to provide the Utes with a very formidable running back duo, though offenses that feature two backs can often drive owners crazy.

 Matt Asiata - RBDec. 21 - 11:45 pm et
A Salt Lake Tribune article on running back Eddie Wide's impressive campaign states that Utah injured senior running back Matt Asiata may request at sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA, which would provide the Utes with two veteran, talented backs in 2010.
We're not even sure Asiata will request, let alone receive, a sixth year. If he does the Utes will benefit, though fantasy owners will have to deal with split carries

 Eddie Wide - RBNov. 29 - 4:30 pm et
Utah running back Eddie Wide netted 114 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Saturday's 26-23 overtime loss to BYU.
This performance pushed Wide over the 1,000-yard mark on the season, with 1,032 yards. He bounced back after two sub-par performances against both TCU and San Diego State to notch his seventh 100-yard game of the year.  With Matt Asiata set to graduate, Wide should be a solid fantasy back in 2010.

This marks Reed's fourth 100-yard game of the season and he finished as the game's leading receiver. The Utes, who had been relying on solid performances by running back Eddie Wide, had to revert to the pass. Wide only managed 25 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the game.

 David Reed - WROct. 28 - 8:45 pm et
The Salt Lake Tribune discussed the Utah air combination of Terrance Cain to wide receiver David Reed, and Reed's 45 catches and emergence as the go-to guy "isn't unexpected" says coach Kyle Whittingham.
At this point in season clear #1 wide receivers can be hard to find, thus Reed should be considered in deeper leagues. Every point matters, especially during the stretch run.

 Eddie Wide - RBOct. 27 - 8:45 am et
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said running back Eddie Wide is "okay" after suffering a high ankle sprain in the first half against Air Force last week.
You never like to hear the words "high ankle sprain." But Wide did return, so we can only assume he will play this week against Wyoming.

 Sausan Shakerin - RBOct. 16 - 10:15 pm et
Utah redshirt freshman Sausan Shakerin gave a glimpse of his potential when he took his first run 46 yards against SJSU in week two. And this week he'll return after shoulder and wrist injuries kept him on the shelf.
While we don't see huge games from Shakerin in 2009, fantasy owners will want to monitor his carries and progress as this youngster is well-regarded by coach Kyle Whittingham.  Eddie Wide should still to carry the load for the Utes

 Matt Asiata - RBSep. 25 - 8:00 pm et
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham wants to use running back Matt Asiata more on first down in an effort to avoid third and long.
Even though Asiata says his shoulder is not 100 percent, this is a good sign that he will see more carries this weekend.

 Eddie Wide - RBSep. 16 - 1:45 pm et
If Utah running back Matt Asiata (shoulder) is unable to play this week against Oregon, Eddie Wide will get the start.   "He is a good runner inside and outside," coach Kyle Whittingham said. "He can handle it."
There haven't been any positive indications that Asiata is going to be able to play this week, so we we would leave him on your bench.

Utah State knows it's going to see a steady diet of Utah's Matt Asiata this weekend, though as the Salt Lake Tribune reports the Aggies will be armed with a rebuilt front four featuring three JUCO transfers.
Utah State is making strides, but they'll struggle to stop the Utah running game, and Asiata is a very nice start this weekend.
