 Dillon Gee - SSep. 5 - 6:38 pm et
Dillon Gee will be promoted from Triple-A Buffalo to start on Tuesday for the Mets.
With Johan Santana scratched, Gee will make his major league debut against the Nationals. Gee is 13-8 with an ugly 4.96 ERA in 28 starts for Buffalo, but he entered this season with a 2.96 ERA and 216/49 K/BB ratio over 270 2/3 minor league innings since having been drafted in the 21st round in 2007.

 Raul Valdes - RSep. 5 - 6:30 pm et
Mets recalled LHP Raul Valdes from Triple-A Buffalo.
In two extended stints with the Mets earlier this season, Valdes produced a 4.73 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 31 appearances. He'll provide bullpen depth.
 Ruben Tejada - 2BSep. 5 - 6:29 pm et
Ruben Tejada cracked his first big league homer and drove in five runs as the Mets blew out the Cubs 18-5 on Sunday.
Tejada was quite busy today. In addition to a solo homer he also hit a two-run single, drove in a run with a bases loaded walk, and hit a sacrifice fly. Tejada entered the day with an OPS south of 500 and just two steals in 157 at-bats, so he hasn't been helping the Mets or NL-only owners. Tejada is still just 20 years old and has time to develop, but he's not a fantasy option in the short-term and given the considerable development he still needs to undergo he's not worth stashing in leagues without a minor league system.
 Johan Santana - SSep. 5 - 6:15 pm et
The Mets will skip Johan Santana's (pectoral muscle) start on Tuesday.
Santana's bullpen session on Sunday was "fine," according to a team spokesman, but the team evidently didn't feel as though their prized left-hander was ready to toe the mound in a game situation within 48 hours. We're pretty confident he won't miss more than one start, but we'll keep you updated on his status.

 Ike Davis - 1BSep. 5 - 6:05 pm et
Ike Davis went 4-for-6 with a homer and three RBI against the Cubs on Sunday.
In addition to his two-run blast, Davis also garnered two singles, one of which drove in a run, and a double. In total he also scored three times, giving him 61 runs, 17 homers, and 61 RBI in 122 big league games this season. Davis has 20-to-25 homer power without further development, but he'll need to either add more power or cut down on the strikeouts to increase his batting average to be relevant in mixed leagues next year.
 Johan Santana - SSep. 5 - 1:26 pm et
Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said Johan Santana's (pectoral muscle) bullpen session was "fine."
No decision will be made about Tuesday's start until the team trainer consults some doctors. For what it's worth, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin tweeted that "amateur body language readers have Santana missing start." We'll know soon enough if that will be the case.

 David Wright - 3BSep. 5 - 11:49 am et
David Wright is not in Sunday's lineup.
It's just a routine day off for the third baseman. Expect him to be back in the lineup Monday.

 Nick Evans - OFSep. 5 - 11:45 am et
Mets recalled OF Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo.
Evans got two at-bats in an earlier stint with the big club. He's had a nice season in the minors, hitting a combined .300 with 23 homers and 88 RBI between Double- and Triple-A. He'll give the team some depth in the outfield and he's also capable of playing first base.
 Jenrry Mejia - RSep. 4 - 4:17 pm et
In his first major league start Saturday, Jenrry Mejia gave up four runs over five innings in a loss to the Cubs.
Not completely unexpected. The 20-year-old right-hander allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out a pair. On the bright side, he touched the mid-90s on the radar gun and mostly kept the ball on the ground. There will be growing pains here, but it looks like the Mets are willing to live with them down the stretch. That's a good thing. He's obviously worth a flier in NL-only leagues.
 Ike Davis - 1BSep. 4 - 4:14 pm et
Ike Davis was 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday afternoon.
It was his 16th home run of the year and his first since July 29. Davis has really scuffled since the early part of June, but he is batting .333 (16-for-48) with eight extra-base hits, three RBI and a 14/13 K/BB ratio over his last 15 games. There are better options to be found in mixed leagues, but he's getting there.
 Angel Pagan - OFSep. 4 - 3:06 pm et
Angel Pagan is still dealing with tendinitis in his right wrist but will play through the ailment.
"It's not 100 percent, but it's good enough to go out there and battle with the team," Pagan said. "That's why I took those days off, so I could hit a little bit better and give the 100 percent I have." Pagan should remain in the starting lineup as long as the injury doesn't get any worse.

 Johan Santana - SSep. 4 - 12:41 pm et
Johan Santana (pectoral muscle) played catch Saturday without any pain.
He will throw a light bullpen session Sunday before a decision is made on whether he can start Tuesday. We're optimistic that he won't miss a start.

 Jose Reyes - SSSep. 4 - 12:14 pm et
Jose Reyes (oblique) has been shut down from taking any swings at the moment but could try again Sunday.
It's not clear if Reyes suffered a setback or if the Mets simply wanted to give him some rest. Recent reports had him feeling better and swinging from both sides of the plate. We'll update you on his condition when more is known.

 Jose Reyes - SSSep. 4 - 8:27 am et
Mets manager Jerry Manuel said there has been no conversation about shutting Jose Reyes (oblique) down.
Reyes missed his eighth straight game Friday, but he has been feeling better and has been able to take batting practice from both sides of the plate. He should be able to return to the lineup before too long unless he experiences a setback.

 Johan Santana - SSep. 3 - 6:42 pm et
Johan Santana (pectoral muscle) is scheduled to play catch Saturday.
That's all we have right now. The team hasn't confirmed whether Santana will make his next start, but we should know a lot more tomorrow.

 R.A. Dickey - SSep. 3 - 5:03 pm et
R.A. Dickey had a rare off day Friday, giving up seven runs in six innings in a loss to the Cubs.
Six runs came on three-run shots from Alfonso Soriano and Blake DeWitt. It's the first time in 21 starts this season that Dickey has allowed more than five earned runs, and he took his first loss since Aug. 8.
 David Wright - 3BSep. 3 - 5:01 pm et
David Wright went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and a two-run double Friday versus the Cubs.
Wright ended August in another drought, but he's 6-for-12 with two homers and two doubles to begin September. At .295, he still has a chance to hit .300 for the sixth straight season.
 Johan Santana - SSep. 3 - 12:19 pm et
A day after leaving Thursday's start with a strained pectoral muscle, Johan Santana told reporters he was feeling "good."
He said "I'm good, guys" before proceeding to hit Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen with socks he was holding in his left hand, so we'll take that to mean he's feeling pretty good. It isn't confirmed that he'll be able to make his next start, but there's reason to be optimistic right now.

 Angel Pagan - OFSep. 3 - 12:13 pm et
Angel Pagan is back in the starting lineup for Friday's matinee against the Cubs.
He'll play center field and bat leadoff against right-hander Randy Wells. Pagan has been sidelined since Monday due to right wrist tendinitis.

 David Wright - 3BSep. 3 - 11:55 am et
Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon met privately with Single-A Brooklyn manager Wally Backman on Thursday, but denied talking to him about managing with Mets.
That's what he's saying, but we're going to guess the possibility came up. The Mets are widely expected to let Jerry Manuel go after the season and Backman will be one of the leading candidates for the position. Bob Melvin, Tim Teufel and Terry Collins are some other logical in-house solutions.
