Jamie McMurray drew the ninth starting position and looked to be the class of the field as the green flag dropped on the 2010 Edition of the Budweiser Shootout.
He quickly raced his way inside the top five during the opening 25 lap session. Following the ten minute break after lap 25, continuing to run inside the top five, McMurray would eventually fall victim to "picking the wrong lane" on the superspeedway, falling as far as 19th. As the race closed to an end he would find himself in position to win as he raced in the second position. The caution flew for the final time on lap 69. He took he green flag on lap 73 in the third position. Kasey Kahne (second) and eventual race winner Kevin Harvick would prove to be too much.

Jamie McMurray will attempt to best his second-place finish in the 2009 Bud Shootout, where he started 15th going on to lead a total of four times for 16 laps (second most).
In his four Shootout attempts (04, 06, 08, 09), McMurray has collected one top-five, two top-10, and three top-20 finishes. His best starting position came during the 2004 edition (McMurray’s first ever), when he started third.

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced today that it has partnered with Dinan-BMW as the new manufacturer of its 2010 Daytona Prototype and its longtime partner TELMEX will once again return as the primary sponsor of the No.01 with co-drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas.
In addition, CGRFS will again run a two-car effort for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, featuring eight drivers. Pruett and Rojas will unite with IZOD IndyCar driver Justin Wilson and American Le Mans Series driver Marino Franchitti to form the lineup in the No. 01 TELMEX/Target Dinan-BMW Riley, while Team Target IndyCar pilots Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti will join Team Target NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Juan Pablo Montoya and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates teammate Jamie McMurray in the No. 02 Target/TELMEX Dinan-BMW Riley.

Martin Truex Jr. is one of the four drivers participating in offseason tire testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The four top teams preparing are for the Kobalt Tools 500. Truex, Sam Hornish Jr., Mark Martin and Carl Edwards will participate in two days of testing for Goodyear on January 12 and 13. The test is closed to the public and will aid Goodyear in determining the paramount tire for Atlanta Motor Speedway’s March 7 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. -NASCAR Media

Jamie McMurray joined hundreds of other karters at the annual Daytona KartWeek By Cometic Gasket events at Daytona.
The three-day event that started on Monday showcases the World Karting Association on three different courses – the 3.56-mile road course, the Sprint track located in Turns 3 and 4 and the newly constructed quarter-mile dirt track outside Turns 1 and 2. McMurray, similar to fellow NASCAR drivers Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte and Brian Vickers, got his first taste of Daytona International Speedway as a teenager competing in Daytona KartWeek By Cometic Gasket every holiday. -NASCAR Media

NASCAR announced a revision to the 2010 Budweiser Shootout format that provides fans with a strong lineup of drivers highlighted by last year's top performers and a collection of previous winners at Daytona.
Jamie McMurray, driver of the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing No. 1 Chevrolet in 2010, is elible to run in the February 6th event. He makes the list due to his win in July 2007 Pepsi 400 at the Daytona International Speedway.

Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced they will add NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver Jamie McMurray as a teammate of Juan Pablo Montoya, to drive the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Chevrolet for the 2010 NSCS season.
Fresh off his win at the Talladega Superspeedway on Nov. 1, McMurray will return to Ganassi whom he raced for from 2002-05. Bass Pro Shops will once again return for their fifth season as one of the primary partners on the No. 1 Chevrolet.

Jamie McMurray scored one of his three career Sprint Cup series poles at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Nov. 2003 – the others came at Pocono Raceway and Infineon Raceway.
He has an average starting position of 16.4 and an average finishing position of 15.4 at Homestead. His best Cup series finish at Homestead is third which he achieved in 2008. Entering this weekend’s race, McMurray is currently 22nd in the Sprint Cup driver point standings. -Roush Fenway Racing

Kevin Manion, crew chief on the No. 1 Rain-X Chevrolet driven by Martin Truex Jr. in the Sprint Cup Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway wins the DIRECTV Crew Chief of the Race award.
The $5,900 award is presented to the crew chief of the driver who demonstrates the best qualifying and race effort as determined by averaging the sum of their qualifying and race finish for each event. Stewart started on the pole and finished 5th. He is currently 23rd in the 2009 Sprint Cup point standings after this race.

Martin Truex Jr. wins the Coors Light Pole Award for the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil with a lap of 26.643 seconds, 135.120 mph.
This is The No. 1 Rain-X Chevrolet driver's fourth pole in 152 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. It is his third pole and 11th top-10 start in 2009. His last pole was recorded at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day weekend. This is his first pole in eight races at Phoenix International Raceway. -NASCAR PR

NASCAR announced penalties for the car No. 1 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for a violation that occurred during post-race inspection last Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.
The team was penalized for violating Sections 12-1; 12-4-I; and 20-12.8.1B (front of the car did not meet the required height specification; too low in post-race inspection). Crew chief Kevin Manion was fined $50,000 and remains on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2009. Car owner Teresa Earnhardt and driver Martin Truex Jr., were penalized with the loss of 50 championship owner and 50 championship driver points, respectively. -NASCAR PR

In his 12 career Cup series starts at Phoenix, Jamie McMurray averages a 17.4 starting position and a 20.8 finishing position.
His best Cup series finish at Phoenix came November 2008 when he finished third. This weekend at Phoenix, McMurray will pilot the No. 26 IRWIN MARATHON Ford Fusion. He has one top-10 and one top-five finish in his 12 career Cup series starts at PIR. Jamie McMurray enters this weekend’s Dickies 500 fresh off a win at Talladega Superspeedway and hopes to claim back-to-back victories.
In 2008, McMurray finished his season with three consecutive third-place finishes that started at Texas Motor Speedway. He has 11 career Cup starts at TMS in which he averages a 28.5 starting position and a 15.0 average finishing position. Jamie McMurray wins the AMP Energy 500, his third victory in 255 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
This is the No. 26 IRWIN Marathon Ford driver's first victory and fifth top-10 finish in 15 races at Talladega Superspeedway. He led the most laps (32 of 191) in this race to gain the extra 5-point bonus. McMurray is currently 22nd in the 2009 Sprint Cup Series point standings.

Truex has an average start of 20.1 and an average finish of 28.1 at Talladega. No stranger to success at Talladega, Truex brought home three straight victories in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Jamie McMurray makes the biggest gain in the series points after the October 25th Sprint Cup TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
McMurray started the No. 26 Crown Royal Ford 23rd in the lineup and finished 6th. His gain of three spots to 22nd in the 2009 championship standings was the biggest of the drivers making all 32 races so far this season.

Truex has an average starting position of 18.0 and an average finish of 19.9 at Martinsville. His best qualifying effort of second occurred for the October race of 2007. His best finish of 10th occurred in the October event in during the 2008 season.
