 Anquan Boldin - WRFeb. 10 - 8:35 am et
Two people in contact with the Dolphins could "envision" the team offering a draft pick for Anquan Boldin, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
The pick would be a third-rounder or later. Jackson is a columnist, but this is the second time in a week we've heard rumors about Boldin and the Dolphins. Boldin is as tough as the come, which would make Bill Parcells happy, and would fill a glaring need as a reliable target in the passing game for Chad Henne. The rumors make sense. Jackson adds that the Dolphins aren't interested in Brandon Marshall.

 Anquan Boldin - WRFeb. 5 - 11:33 am et
Beat writer Armando Salguero expects the Dolphins to "absolutely discuss" trading for Anquan Boldin.
Brandon Marshall isn't a Bill Parcells/Tony Sparano kind of player, but Salguero believes the Dolphins appreciate Boldin because "he's tough, he's big, and he is not a diva." Though the Cardinals are expected to ask for a second-rounder, it's believed that Boldin could ultimately be had for a third.

 Neil Rackers - KFeb. 4 - 8:36 pm et
The Cardinals are reportedly not "wedded" to unrestricted free agent K Neil Rackers.
The team does have interest in re-signing Rackers, but they're expected to keep their options open if he wants too much money. Though Rackers has enjoyed solid percentages in Arizona, he's had issues in the clutch.

 Chad Pennington - QBFeb. 4 - 7:22 pm et
Free agent Chad Pennington (shoulder surgery) indicated Thursday that he would be open to "all comers" if the Dolphins elect not to re-sign him.
Penny will visit Dr. James Andrews on Feb. 15 to get clearance for throwing. With no damage to the rotator cuff, he's expected to make a full recovery. The Dolphins already have Tyler Thigpen and Pat White behind Chad Henne, so they may opt to pass. Arizona would be an ideal fit for player and team.

 Stevie Baggs - LBFeb. 4 - 11:23 am et
Cardinals signed Saskatchewan Rough Riders OLB Stevie Baggs, the CFL's co-leader in sacks in 2009.
Baggs tied for the sack lead (12) with British Columbia’s Rickey Foley, who is also drawing NFL interest this week. With Bertrand Berry retiring and Chike Okeafor set to reach free agency, the Cardinals need candidates to fill the void at pass rusher.

 Chad Pennington - QBFeb. 4 - 9:26 am et
Free agent Chad Pennington (shoulder surgery) "has decided to make it his priority to stay with the Dolphins," according to the Miami Herald's Jeff Darlington.
Pennington is willing to back up Chad Henne, and the Dolphins will "entertain the possibility" only after they see him throw -- specifically a 15-yard out route. His shoulder was discovered to have only damage to the labrum and the shoulder capsule, leading to expectations of a full recovery. If Miami opts against re-signing him (Pat White and Tyler Thigpen are under contract), the Cardinals are believed to have interest in Pennington as veteran insurance behind Matt Leinart.

 Anquan Boldin - WRFeb. 3 - 3:30 pm et
Acknowledging that wide receiver is a priority this offseason, Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome indicated that he's "open" to trading players or draft picks to acquire an upgrade.
The Ravens need a big, physical receiver to push Derrick Mason into the No. 2 role. Anquan Boldin and Brandon Marshall both fit the description, though coaches' nightmare Marshall comes with a sizable character risk. The injury-prone Boldin would come at a lower cost in players and/or draft picks.

 Matt Leinart - QBFeb. 2 - 5:18 pm et
Cardinals GM Rod Graves has seconded coach Ken Whisenhunt's confidence in Matt Leinart as the team's starting quarterback.
"I think he's going to answer a lot of questions," said Graves. While both men insist they're "excited" about Leinart taking over, Kurt Warner revealed Tuesday that he was offered the opportunity to skip offseason practices and part of training camp as an enticement to return for one more season. The confidence in Leinart may seem forced, but the team does appear ready to hand him the keys to the offense now that Warner is gone.

 Joey Porter - LBFeb. 2 - 4:45 pm et
Dolphins OLB Joey Porter revealed that he and Tony Sparano never spoke a word to each other after his mid-November suspension.
"I'm a captain, but I'm not going to the captain meetings," said Porter. "He's not meeting with me anymore. How do you come back?" The Dolphins weren't likely to bring him back regardless, and Porter's recent comments have cemented his exit from Miami. He lists the Chargers, 49ers, and Cardinals as teams he'd like to play for in 2010.

Brian St. Pierre - QBJan. 31 - 8:45 am et
The East Valley Tribune speculates that the Cardinals could use a late-round draft pick on a quarterback.
The Cardinals would be wise to sign a veteran to back up Matt Leinart, allowing a rookie project to develop as the No. 3. That would obviously be bad news for impending free agent Brian St. Pierre.

 Matt Leinart - QBJan. 30 - 5:52 pm et
Coach Ken Whisenhunt expressed confidence in Matt Leinart following Kurt Warner's retirement Friday.
"What I think back to is the second half in the preseason when he threw for 300 yards [against the Packers]," Whisenhunt said. "Matt's not a rookie. He's been in this offense for three years." The Cardinals appear ready to turn the offense over to Leinart as opposed to importing a veteran this offseason. They need to see if the 2006 first-rounder can be the solution before his $12.9M tab comes due next offseason.

 Antrel Rolle - DBJan. 30 - 11:58 am et
Cardinals FS Antrel Rolle would be interested in playing for the Dolphins if he can't work out a restructured deal with Arizona.
"That would be nice," said the former Miami Hurricane. "I haven't played (in Miami) in five years, but hey, we can make it happen." Rolle says he won't take a pay cut from his scheduled $12.1 million in 2010 pay, making him a candidate for release. The Fins are considering also cutting Gibril Wilson.

 Chris Wells - RBJan. 29 - 8:44 pm et
SI.com's Don Banks expects the Cardinals to lean more heavily on Beanie Wells following Kurt Warner's retirement.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt comes from a run-first background and is likely to install a more balanced offense with Matt Leinart at quarterback. Wells never did overtake Tim Hightower to be Arizona's starter in 2009, but he was the clear feature back during the stretch run. Now a candidate for 250+ carries, he'll be a high-upside second-round pick in fantasy drafts next season.

 Matt Leinart - QBJan. 29 - 3:17 pm et
Matt Leinart ascends to the starting quarterback job in Arizona following Kurt Warner's retirement.
The former No. 10 overall pick finally has control of the offense five years after he was drafted. With a slow release, even slower feet, and a questionable arm, Leinart will have to prove his detractors wrong and win the confidence of his receivers in 2010. Due a combined $12.9M in 2011, Leinart basically has a one-year window to put his stamp on the starting job. With as much skill-position talent as any team in the league, the Cardinals have at least set him up for success.
 Kurt Warner - QBJan. 29 - 3:03 pm et
Kurt Warner announced his retirement from football Friday, as expected.
Warner's career will go down as one of the most unique in NFL history. He famously went from stocking shelves at a grocery story while playing in the Arena league to becoming one of only two quarterbacks in history to lead two different franchises to the Super Bowl. The two-time NFL MVP escaped a five-year drought in the middle of his career to own the three highest single-game passing totals in Super Bowl history. Though it may not be on the first ballot, the 12-year veteran sharpshooter will end up with a bust and a mustard-colored jacket in Canton, Ohio.
Brian St. Pierre - QBJan. 28 - 5:56 pm et
Updating a previous item, Brian St. Pierre will not need surgery to fix a back problem that hindered him during the 2009 season.
The issue was deemed to be muscular in nature, which can be alleviated through a strength program. The unrestricted free agent would like to re-sign in Arizona, though the Cardinals may seek a more proven No. 2 quarterback.

 Antrel Rolle - DBJan. 28 - 1:00 pm et
Due an $8.1 million salary in addition to a $4 million roster bonus, Antrel Rolle's status with the Cardinals is up in the air this offseason.
Rolle has said he won't take a paycut, but there's no chance the Cardinals will pay him $12 million this season. Rashad Johnson isn't ready to take over at free safety, so the sides will have to work out a long-term deal or renegotiate Rolle's 2010 salary.

 Kurt Warner - QBJan. 28 - 11:46 am et
Updating a previous item, Kurt Warner has been in contact with the Cardinals and has kept them up-to-date on his plans for Friday's press conference.
Warner is fully expected to announce his retirement from football at the 3:00 p.m. ET press conference Friday. The Cardinals will turn the offense over to Matt Leinart, whose salary increases from $2.5M in 2010 to $7.4M in 2011 with a $5.5M roster bonus. Leinart will have one year to prove he can handle the job for the leading NFC West contender.

Brian St. Pierre - QBJan. 28 - 9:37 am et
Impending free agent QB Brian St. Pierre may need back surgery this offseason.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt has already indicated that Matt Leinart would take over as the starter if Kurt Warner retires (as expected), so the Cardinals will be in the market for a veteran No. 2 QB. St. Pierre has the requisite experience in Whiz's offense, but the Cardinals may want more of a sure thing with an unknown commodity as the starter.

 Kurt Warner - QBJan. 27 - 9:18 pm et
Despite scheduling a news conference for Friday, Kurt Warner has yet to inform the Cardinals of his future plans.
The Arizona Republic confirms that Warner "is expected" to retire, and it would be even more diva-like than Brett Favre for the 38-year-old to hold a press conference announcing his return. We'll know for sure by week's end.
