 Harry Douglas - WRFeb. 9 - 10:15 am et
Falcons coach Mike Smith said that PR/WR Harry Douglas (ACL tear) is getting close to getting back out on the field.
Douglas still has a long way to go on his rehab as he tore the ACL in August. We doubt he'll be 100 percent by the time training camp rolls around.

 Julius Peppers - DLFeb. 9 - 9:04 am et
During a radio interview that aired Tuesday morning, Julius Peppers said he doesn't want a long-term extension from the Panthers.
Panthers beat writer Darin Gantt says "it's becoming more and more clear that Peppers isn't going to be here next year." Peppers is upset that the Panthers are giving him and his agent the "silent treatment." Gantt suggests that the Panthers should put the franchise tag on Peppers with designs on trading him. The Eagles, Patriots and Falcons are rumored as possible landing spots.

 Matt Bryant - KFeb. 4 - 9:59 am et
Falcons worked out CFL kickers Damon Duval, Sandro DeAngelis, and Justin Medlock on Tuesday.
Duval has turned down NFL opportunities in the past, but the Falcons are reportedly set to make him a contract offer. They have holdovers Matt Bryant and Steve Hauschka in the mix as well.

 Justin Medlock - KFeb. 3 - 2:42 pm et
Toronto Argonauts K Justin Medlock recently worked out for the Falcons and Texans.
Medlock failed to impressive the Chiefs and Rams in earlier stints, but he's drawing NFL interest after nailing 40 of 46 field goals with Toronto. The Texans also worked out journeyman Dave Rayner, signaling that Kris Brown will have competition for his job after an abysmal 2009 season.

 John Abraham - DLFeb. 1 - 9:38 am et
Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Jeff Schultz says that RE John Abraham was invisible at times last season and the Falcons need to do something to create more pressure.
After posting 16.5 sacks in 2008, Abraham had just 5.5 last season. At 31, there may be some concern that Abraham is declining, but adding a premier pass rusher opposite him would give him a major jolt. ESPN's Adam Schefter has already said that Atlanta would be a logical spot for impending unrestricted free agent Julius Peppers to land.

 Falcons Defense - TMJan. 26 - 7:36 pm et
Falcons hired former Seahawks DBs coach Tim Lewis for the same position in Atlanta.
He replaces Emmitt Thomas, who was let go after the Falcons ranked a disappointing 28th against the pass in 2009. Lewis has experience as s coordinator from 2000-2006 with the Steelers and the Giants.

 Roddy White - WRJan. 26 - 2:19 pm et
Roddy White has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl squad as a replacement for Sidney Rice.
Rice was sore following Sunday's loss to the Saints. White recorded a career-high 11 touchdowns in 2009 while becoming the first receiver in franchise history with three straight seasons of 80+ receptions and 1,100 yards. He's been a Top-10 fantasy receiver in each of the past two seasons.

 Tony Gonzalez - TEJan. 20 - 4:18 pm et
Tony Gonzalez confirmed Wednesday that he will return for a 14th season.
"Now that I’ve had a chance to get away from the game a little bit...I’m definitely going to be around for next year," he said. The 34-year-old needs just one reception to get to 1,000 for his career. After proving he could stay highly productive in a run-based offense, Gonzalez will be among our top-ten fantasy tight ends for 2010. He finished 2009 ranked No. 5 at the position.

 Matt Bryant - KJan. 13 - 9:52 am et
Falcons coach Mike Smith insinuated that Matt Bryant will be his kicker in 2010.
Bryant was picked up by the Falcons in Week 13 and made 7-of-10 field goals. He's under contract through next season, but ex-Raven Steve Hauschka is in the mix as well.

 Thomas DeCoud - DBJan. 12 - 7:09 pm et
Falcons coach Mike Smith named free safety Thomas DeCoud his defensive MVP for the 2009 season.
It was a split vote, with GM Thomas Dimitroff giving his award to star linebacker Curtis Lofton. A first-year starter, DeCoud excelled in run support while proving more than adequate in coverage. He's a defensive building block for the Falcons.

 Peria Jerry - DLJan. 12 - 3:05 pm et
Falcons DT Peria Jerry has yet to resume running after injuring his knee in September.
Jerry suffered torn ligaments, and it was reported at the time that he had a bone-related injury. Though his ACL was not damaged, the Falcons declined to specify which ligaments were involved or how long Jerry would be rehabbing. He still has almost eight months before training camp.

 Dan Klecko - DLJan. 11 - 6:31 pm et
Falcons signed DT/FB Dan Klecko to a reserve/future contract.
Klecko was out of football in 2009 after failing to make the Eagles. The 29-year-old journeyman will battle for a roster spot this offseason.
 Christopher Owens - DBJan. 5 - 9:12 am et
Falcons coach Mike Smith singled out corners Chris Owens and Brent Grimes as having "progressed very well" toward the end of the season.
Thanks to injuries to Brian Williams and Chris Houston, the Falcons' secondary was grasping for air for much of the season. But over the last four games or so, Owens and Grimes were able to stabilize things. Still, look for the Falcons to try to upgrade at corner this offseason with Owens and Grimes providing solid depth in 2010.

 Matt Ryan - QBJan. 4 - 8:12 pm et
Matt Ryan has been ordered to rest his turf toe for the next several weeks, but is expected back in full for the March offseason program.
After finishing as the No. 15 overall fantasy QB in his rookie year, Ryan plummeted to No. 19 as an NFL sophomore. Much of his fall had to do with the injury, which cost Ryan two games and limited him in two others. Ryan still threw for 22 TDs and is an ideal buy-low target in dynasty leagues.

 Antone Smith - RBJan. 4 - 7:57 pm et
Falcons signed RB Antone Smith, DE Maurice Lucas, C Blake Schlueter, and OG Jose Valdez to reserve/future contracts.
Smith, who had 15 touchdowns and averaged 4.5 YPC as a senior at Florida State, is probably the most interesting prospect here. He remains a long shot to play in an NFL game at 5'9/190, however, and went undrafted last April.
 D.J. Shockley - QBJan. 4 - 7:52 pm et
Falcons signed QB D.J. Shockley, C Rob Bruggeman, and WRs James Swinton and Andy Strickland to reserve/future contracts.
Shockley will be given another look as a third-stringer this offseason, but he's unlikely to make the roster. He doesn't fit the Falcons' pro-style offense.
 Tony Gonzalez - TEJan. 3 - 6:51 pm et
Tony Gonzalez was held to just three catches for 30 yards against the Bucs in Week 17.
Not close to 100 percent with a calf injury, Gonzalez fell one catch shy of becoming the seventh player in NFL with 1,000 career receptions. The future Hall of Famer finished the season with 83 catches for 867 yards and six touchdowns. Still among the elite tight ends in the league, Gonzalez will enter his age-34 season as a Top-6 fantasy option.
 Michael Jenkins - WRJan. 3 - 6:45 pm et
Michael Jenkins caught four passes for 45 yards against the Bucs in Week 17.
It was a typical mundane performance for Jenkins. Known more for his blocking than receiving, Jenkins finished with 50 catches for 635 yards and just one touchdown. He'll have to hold off Harry Douglas (ACL surgery) next season.
 Roddy White - WRJan. 3 - 6:42 pm et
Roddy White caught six passes for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs in Week 17.
White tip-toed down the sidelines for a 12-yard score, putting the Falcons ahead for good. He became the first player in franchise history to record 80 catches and 1,100 yards in three consecutive seasons. A Top-10 fantasy receiver for the second straight year, White finished with 85 catches for 1,153 yards and 11 scores.
 Jerious Norwood - RBJan. 3 - 6:23 pm et
Jerious Norwood rushed nine times for 27 yards and added four receptions for 23 yards against the Bucs in Week 17.
Norwood was bottled up, taking a backseat to bigger back Jason Snelling. Hampered by injuries throughout the season, Norwood managed just 3.3 YPC, finishing under 5.0 YPC for the first time in his career. An impending restricted free agent, Norwood would be a nice pickup in quite a few backfields as a big-play threat.
