 Muhsin Muhammad - WRNov. 20 - 9:35 am et
Beat writer Darin Gantt believes Muhsin Muhammad's 14-year run as a productive receiver is "over."
"The Muhsin Muhammad Is Back Tour lasted one week," said Gantt after his 27-yard performance Thursday night. The Panthers desperately need to address wide receiver this offseason, and it's clear that Dwayne Jarrett is not the answer.

 Sherrod Martin - DBNov. 20 - 9:21 am et
Beat writer Darin Gantt believes rookie Sherrod Martin will keep the starting free safety job when Charles Godfrey returns from an ankle injury.
Gantt calls Martin a rangy safety who is not afraid to lower his shoulder, and he has improved the team's pass defense. Godfrey is expected to be a bigger factor on special teams when he returns.

 Landon Johnson - LBNov. 20 - 2:03 am et
Panthers WLB Landon Johnson left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and did not return.
Johnson and Nail Diggs were prime culprits in a Panthers defense that struggled to tackle all night. His injury could open the door to more playing for Dan Connor, which may actually help the Panthers' run defense.

 Gary Barnidge - TENov. 20 - 12:23 am et
Gary Barnidge caught two passes for 46 yards against the Dolphins in Week 11.
Barnidge didn't see the field until the final drive, where he made an outstanding leaping grab on his back shoulder for a 29-yard gain and two plays later a 17-yard catch in traffic. Clearly the Panthers' second best option in the passing game, Barnidge was wasted against a Dolphins team that struggles to defend athletic tight ends.
 Muhsin Muhammad - WRNov. 20 - 12:20 am et
Muhsin Muhammad was held to 27 yards on three catches against the Dolphins in Week 11.
Muhammad was targeted just five times and remains more important to the offense as a blocker than receiver. It's time to kick him back to the waiver wire if you picked him up after last week's fluke performance.
 Steve Smith - WRNov. 20 - 12:17 am et
Steve Smith led the Panthers with seven receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins in Week 7.
It could have been so much better. Smith was open all night against single coverage, including twice on deep balls, but Jake Delhomme consistently under- or over-threw his playmaker. His leaping 27-yard touchdown was a reminder that he catches in traffic as well as any receiver in the league. Smith will see plenty of shutdown corner Darrelle Revis next week, but he's tough to sit with three scores in his past two games.
 Jonathan Stewart - RBNov. 20 - 12:13 am et
Jonathan Stewart rushed 12 times for 43 yards against the Dolphins in Week 11.
Stewart was never able to break a long run, and the Panthers uncharacteristically elected to keep the ball in Jake Delhomme's hands near the goal-line. With little work in the passing game, Stewart remains highly dependent touchdowns for weekly fantasy relevance. He's worth consideration as a flex option against the Jets next week.
 DeAngelo Williams - RBNov. 20 - 12:10 am et
DeAngelo Williams rushed 13 times for 122 yards and added one reception for nine yards against the Dolphins in Week 11.
Averaging close to 10 yards a pop, an explosive Williams couldn't be stopped by a previous stout Dolphins run defense. Had the coaches not been trying to build confidence in Jake Delhomme, Williams could have threatened 200 yards. Having learned a valuable lesson, the Panthers will look to get the ball back in Williams' hands next week against the Jets. With six straight games over 100 total yards, he remains a must-start RB1.
 Jake Delhomme - QBNov. 20 - 12:06 am et
Jake Delhomme completed 19-of-42 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Dolphins in Week 11. He added two scrambles for 17 yards.
The coaching staff tried to coddle Delhomme's burgeoning confidence, calling more pass plays and ultimately damaging the team's chances of winning. Delhomme started a relatively strong 5-of-9 for 59 yards but fell apart thereafter while the playcallers continued to neglect a dominant rushing attack. Delhomme didn't completely melt down, however, so he's in no danger of losing his job going into next week's game against the Jets.
 Mike Goodson - RBNov. 19 - 7:06 pm et
Panthers declared RB Mike Goodson, WR Kenneth Moore, S Charles Godfrey, FB Brad Hoover, OG Duke Robinson, DE Charles Johnson, DE Hilee Taylor, and QB A.J. Feeley inactive for Week 11 against the Dolphins.
DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are active, as expected. Goodson and Moore have both struggled on returns, so newly promoted WR Charly Martin is expected to handle kickoffs against Miami. Rookie Sherrod Martin continues to play well in place of Godfrey at free safety.

 Steve Smith - WRNov. 19 - 6:36 pm et
Steve Smith was involved in a minor car accident en route to Thursday's game against the Dolphins, but it won't affect his playing status.
Team spokesman Charlie Dayton said somebody "bumped into Smith," but the receiver was uninjured and will start against Miami. With Jake Delhomme starting to exhibit some stability, we Smith ranked No. 16 among fantasy WRs this week.

 DeAngelo Williams - RBNov. 19 - 1:42 pm et
DeAngelo Williams (knee, questionable) is expected to play Thursday night, confirms ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Coach John Fox already acknowledged that Williams sat out practice on Wednesday just to rest. He's a full go and is a RB1 even against the solid Dolphins' run defense.

 Jonathan Stewart - RBNov. 19 - 1:39 pm et
Jonathan Stewart (heel, questionable) is expected to play Thursday night, confirms ESPN's Adam Schefter.
No news here. Stewart was never in danger of sitting out the game despite the questionable tag. He's a solid flex play.

 Julius Peppers - DLNov. 19 - 8:43 am et
Panthers coach John Fox said it is a "possibility" that Julius Peppers (hand) will be able to play on more running downs this week.
With Charles Johnson (pectoral) doubtful, the Panthers need as much as Peppers can give them. However, Peppers' inability to line up with his broken right hand in the dirt prevents him from playing his usual LE position in Carolina's first- and second-down defense. He will be available to play RE in passing situations, but the Panthers would have to get really creative (3-4 looks?) to keep Peppers on the field on early downs. Bench him in IDP leagues.

 Thomas Davis - LBNov. 18 - 2:07 pm et
Panthers WLB Thomas Davis (injured reserve, torn ACL) will have reconstructive knee surgery on November 30.
The team is presumably waiting for the end of the month because the knee is still swollen. Davis will hit free agency, probably as a restricted FA, just three months removed from surgery. Carolina should be able to retain him.

 Charles Johnson - DLNov. 18 - 2:00 pm et
Panthers DE Charles Johnson (pectorals) is listed as doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Dolphins.
Johnson is an integral part of Carolina's nickel defense, so his absence will affect the team's pass rush. He has three sacks and a pair of forced fumbles on the year. Even with Ronnie Brown out, Carolina will likely struggle to halt Miami's offense. The Panthers were already very poor in run defense.

 DeAngelo Williams - RBNov. 18 - 1:40 pm et
Panthers coach John Fox acknowledged Wednesday that DeAngelo Williams (knee, questionable) sat out practice only to "rest."
Williams hasn't been limping and is playing well despite the alleged injury. Safely consider him a lock to lead Carolina in touches on Thursday night.
Source: Charlotte Observer
 Jonathan Stewart - RBNov. 18 - 1:36 pm et
Jonathan Stewart (heel, questionable) fully returned to Panthers practice Wednesday and is on track to play on Thursday night.
Stewart busted two touchdown runs, including one of 45 yards, in last week's win over Atlanta. He will be active against the Dolphins' No. 7 run defense.

 DeAngelo Williams - RBNov. 18 - 12:55 pm et
DeAngelo Williams missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Thursday night's tilt with Miami.
Williams was "questionable" and barely practiced last week as well, but went onto average 4.8 YPC on 19 carries and catch a 30-yard pass against Atlanta. D-Will practiced Tuesday and isn't known to have aggravated his injury. He is increasingly losing red-zone work to Jonathan Stewart, but will likely play against the Fins. Consider him a high-end RB2 in the difficult matchup.

 Muhsin Muhammad - WRNov. 18 - 9:15 am et
Muhsin Muhammad said he thinks he still has some years left of good football and isn't thinking about retiring.
Muhammad is flying high off his six catch, 91 yard performance last week. That was the most yards he's had since Week 4 of the 2008 season. Muhammad remains an excellent blocker but the Panthers sorely need a threat in his spot to take attention away from Steve Smith. Muhammad's contract is up after this season.
