 John Bowie - DBFeb. 9 - 7:44 pm et
Browns signed CB John Bowie to a reserve/future contract.
A 2007 fourth-round pick by the Raiders, Bowie has intriguing speed but can't stay healthy. He's played in just five games the past three years.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 9 - 6:20 pm et
Updating a previous item, Profootballtalk.com reports Donte' Stallworth will work out for the Lions Wednesday.
The Lions presumably see Stallworth as an upgrade on Bryant Johnson as the No. 2 receiver. His 17 receptions for 170 yards in 11 games with the Browns two years ago suggest that may no longer be the case.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 9 - 4:07 pm et
The agent for Donte' Stallworth indicated that his client will work out for an unnamed team on Wednesday.
The agent also expects Stallworth to sign with a team "in the next couple weeks at the latest," which is highly optimistic. Though Stallworth is willing to sign with any team showing interest, he's going to have to settle for a cheap, one-year deal.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 9 - 11:45 am et
Beat writer Armando Salguero "seriously doubts" that the Dolphins are interested in free agent Donte' Stallworth.
We agree. Stallworth wouldn't be an upgrade over any of the Dolphins current mediocre wide receivers and Bill Parcells often avoids guys with off-field problems. Stallworth isn't going to get many bites on the open market.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 8 - 5:39 pm et
Browns released WR Donte' Stallworth.
He didn't last 24 hours on the offseason roster after being reinstated from his one-year suspension Monday morning. Stallworth is still only 29, but was completely ineffective the last time he played, catching just 17 balls for 170 yards and a single touchdown in 11 games opposite Braylon Edwards in 2008. He'll be lucky to get more than a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, and is a long shot to ever reappear on the fantasy radar again.
 Donovan McNabb - QBFeb. 8 - 1:08 pm et
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that the Broncos, Bills, and Browns have shown interest in the availability of Donovan McNabb.
While Cleveland and Buffalo has obvious holes at QB, this tells us a little about Denver's faith, or lack of it, in Kyle Orton as a long-term solution. The Eagles have indicated that McNabb is unlikely to be traded. Should they be offered a first-round pick however, we strongly believe that would change.

 Derek Anderson - QBFeb. 8 - 12:27 pm et
Derek Anderson's $2 million offseason roster bonus is reportedly due on March 19.
Teams can begin making cuts the day after the Super Bowl, though the Browns figure to shop Anderson around for the next few weeks to see if they can get a late-round pick for him. They most likely won't find any takers. D.A. seems to be damaged goods at this point, but should generate interest from teams that run vertical offenses. The GM in Baltimore knows him well.

 Eric Wright - DBFeb. 8 - 11:48 am et
The Browns believe Eric Wright can develop into a top-10 cornerback, according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Pluto says the Browns believe they only have two legitimate starters in their secondary -- Wright and safety Abe Elam. Safety Brodney Pool's future is up in the air due to concussions and free agency. Pluto expects the Browns to target defensive backs in the draft, possibly using their first pick on Florida CB Joe Haden or Tennessee S Eric Berry if he slides to the No. 7 spot.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 8 - 11:37 am et
Donte' Stallworth has technically returned to the Browns roster as of Monday morning.
There will be no formal NFL announcement of the reinstatement, a source tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Stallworth will be released before his $1M roster bonus is due on March 20 and we're not expecting him to garner a ton of interest on the open market. The Ravens could make sense as a team looking for a deep threat.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 6 - 11:30 am et
Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Friday that suspended WR Donte' Stallworth will be reinstated after the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Goodell said he met with Stallworth about a month ago and says he is "in a better place than he was." Stallworth served 24 days in jail last summer after being charged with DUI manslaughter in March. The Browns are expected to release him before March 20th, when he is due a $1 million roster bonus.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 5 - 3:40 pm et
Suspended Browns WR Donte' Stallworth is due a $1 million roster bonus on March 20 -- the 15th day of the new league year.
He'll be gone before then. Stallworth would be in line for a $1.5 million salary if he was to stay on the 2010 roster into Week 1, but he's not a good enough player and brings too much bad P.R. to keep around. Stallworth figures to receive no more than the NFL minimum when he hits the open market.

 Donte' Stallworth - WRFeb. 5 - 10:58 am et
Commissioner Roger Goodell indicated that Donte' Stallworth will be reinstated from his suspension when eligible next week.
"He recognizes the terrible judgment that he made and the tragic judgment he made and he'll be free to continue his career as of next week," offered Goodell. The Browns still own Stallworth's rights, but they fully intend to cut ties with him this offseason.

 Eagles Offense - TMFeb. 4 - 12:04 pm et
Eagles hired former Browns GM Phil Savage as a consultant to new GM Howie Roseman.
Savage's title is Player Personnel Consultant, and he'll specialize in the draft. Savage is an experienced hand to guide Roseman after the team overhauled its front office. Even after leaving the Browns' roster in tatters last year, his track record with the first nine Ravens' drafts bodes well for success in his new role.

 Jerome Harrison - RBFeb. 3 - 10:09 pm et
Browns GM Tom Heckert questions whether Jerome Harrison can handle a full load of carries through 16 games.
Playing with fresh legs, Harrison broke the NFL record with 106 carries over a three-game stretch in Weeks 15-17. The team has been hesitant to hand him a larger role due to size concerns the past few years, so Heckert's incertitude isn't surprising. The Browns may look to add a bigger back as a complement this offseason.

 Joshua Cribbs - WRJan. 31 - 9:49 am et
When asked about Josh Cribbs, beat writer Tony Grossi says "Yes, yes, yes. It will happen."
Cribbs has backed off his angry stance and now says he is confident that a deal will get done. Cribbs is a great player, but this saga has gone on for far too long now. It's getting almost Favre-esque, as Grossi points out.

 Troy Smith - QBJan. 30 - 10:16 am et
Ravens backup QB Troy Smith says he would "love" to play for the Browns.
"There is no doubt about it," said Smith, an Ohio State alum. "It has always been a childhood dream of mine." Smith is accurate and mobile, and could be a good fit in Mike Holmgren's West Coast offense (assuming Holmgren installs his scheme). The Ravens are likely open to any trade offers.

 Joshua Cribbs - WRJan. 28 - 9:44 pm et
Josh Cribbs brought nine of his core special teams blockers with him to Miami, and he's going to rotate wearing their jerseys the rest of the week.
Kudos for creativity. Cribbs also said he is confident that he can work out a new deal with the Browns, and he wants to be in Cleveland "when the ship is righted" under Mike Holmgren. He even remembered to shower the Browns fans with love, saying they're "bar-none, just amazing." The NFL's all-decade return man is a helluva guy.

 Brady Quinn - QBJan. 28 - 10:52 am et
Browns president Mike Holmgren reiterated that Brady Quinn will not need surgery on the mid-foot sprain in his left foot.
"He's right on track, doing his stuff [to rehabilitate]," Holmgren said. "They're not going to have to operate. He's on track to being healed up." Quinn is still in a walking boot, but he's expected to be recovered in time for OTAs.

 Brady Quinn - QBJan. 27 - 3:30 pm et
Browns president Mike Holmgren says he has no interest in holding a training camp competition at quarterback in 2010.
"I'm not a big believer in that competition stuff," he said. "We better make up our mind before we go to camp and then put our resources into one guy." This is the best approach. Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson were unprepared last year after Eric Mangini had them split reps throughout camp. By naming a starter, at least the Browns' QB will have gotten enough practice.

 Brady Quinn - QBJan. 26 - 3:27 pm et
Browns president Mike Holmgren reiterated that he's not ready to commit to Brady Quinn as the 2010 quarterback.
Holmgren was shocked that the Browns did so well down the stretch without any help at all in the passing game. Though Quinn did have a couple of promising performances out of a no-huddle attack, he was brutal for the most part, finishing with a 53.1 completion percentage and just 5.23 yards per attempt.
