 Jerricho Cotchery - WRNov. 19 - 8:33 pm et
Jerricho Cotchery will return punts for the Jets against the Patriots this week.
Safety Jim Leonhard, the normal punt returner, is expected to miss the game following thumb surgery. Cotchery hasn't returned punts since 2005 and is unlikely to a significant value increase in return yardage leagues this week.

 Leon Washington - RBNov. 19 - 2:34 pm et
Leon Washington said Thursday that he's ahead of schedule in his return from a broken leg and hopes to rejoin the team in March for the off-season conditioning program.
Washington's injury was a double open fracture in his right leg, where the broken tibia and fibular bones came through the skin. A steel rod was placed in his leg, and Washington is beyond the point where infection is a concern. "They expect me to have a full recovery and they're real surprised at my mobility right now," said Washington.

 Eric Smith - DBNov. 19 - 9:08 am et
Eric Smith is expected to start in place of Jim Leonhard (thumb) against the Patriots Sunday.
It's a pretty big blow to the Jets as Leonhard was the "quarterback" of the defense, wearing the helmet headset and calling the plays. The Jets can't afford any communication issues facing Tom Brady and Randy Moss.

 Braylon Edwards - WRNov. 17 - 7:08 pm et
Braylon Edwards pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an incident outside a Cleveland nightclub last month.
Edwards, who is accused of punching a friend of LeBron James, is scheduled for a Dec. 12 court hearing. He could face NFL discipline in 2010 if found guilty.

 Jets Defense - TMNov. 16 - 6:41 pm et
Jets' DL coach Kerry Locklin has left the team for personal reasons.
Jets beat writer Rich Cimini writes that coach Rex Ryan and Locklin had a disagreement, and the decision for him to leave is mutual. Ryan and Locklin had coached together as far back as 1990-1993 at Morehead State.

 Jim Leonhard - DBNov. 16 - 5:58 pm et
Jets SS Jim Leonhard's status is uncertain going forward after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured thumb.
Coach Rex Ryan provided no timetable for Leonhard to return, but said the injury "doesn't sound good to me." Eric Smith will likely take over. Leonhard was averaging five tackles a game with one pick through nine weeks.

 Kenwin Cummings - LBNov. 16 - 3:00 pm et
Jets signed OLB Kenwin Cummings from their practice squad.
The former undrafted free agent from Wingate gives the Jets pass rushing depth with 2008 first-round pick Vernon Gholston banged up and ineffective.
 Ahmad Carroll - DBNov. 16 - 10:59 am et
Jets waived CB Ahmad Carroll.
Carroll had been inactive the past two weeks after contributing on special teams earlier in the season. The former first-round bust isn't going to help anyone in the secondary.
 Shonn Greene - RBNov. 16 - 12:38 am et
Shonn Greene had just seven carries for 26 yards in Week 10.
Thomas Jones had 21 carries and got the ball on the goal line in the fourth quarter, executing from a yard out. Greene should only be considered Jones' "handcuff" in fantasy leagues until the rookie earns a larger workload. Greene is a terrific talent, but may still be in coach Rex Ryan's semi-doghouse after losing a Week 8 fumble that Jason Taylor returned for a TD.
 Mark Sanchez - QBNov. 15 - 4:10 pm et
Mark Sanchez completed 16-of-30 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
Sanchez was picked off on the Jets' first play of the game after rolling out and underthrowing a deep ball to Jerricho Cotchery. He's now completed fewer than 60 percent of his throws in seven straight games, posting a 7/11 TD/INT ratio during that time, and today was just the third time all season that he's topped 200 yards.
 Braylon Edwards - WRNov. 15 - 4:06 pm et
Braylon Edwards caught three passes for 79 yards in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
Edwards was shut out in the first half and then fumbled at the end of a terrific 41-yard gain on his first catch of the second half. He later misfired on a pass attempt to Jerricho Cotchery, narrowly avoiding an interception, and dropped a two-point conversion that would have put the Jets up three late.
 Jerricho Cotchery - WRNov. 15 - 4:03 pm et
Jerricho Cotchery caught six passes for 68 yards and one touchdown in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
New York went deep to Cotchery on the very first play of the game, but the ball was underthrown and picked off by Rashean Mathis. He later beat Mathis for a red zone score. Ignoring the games he missed with an injury, 68 yards is Cotchery's second-worst total of the season.
 Dustin Keller - TENov. 15 - 3:59 pm et
Dustin Keller caught six passes for 58 yards in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
Keller had a big first half before giving way to Braylon Edwards after halftime, but now has 13 catches in the past two games while showing an increasingly good rapport with rookie Mark Sanchez.
 Thomas Jones - RBNov. 15 - 3:56 pm et
Thomas Jones rushed 21 times for 77 yards and one touchdown in Week 10 against the Jaguars.
Jones got double-digit carries in both halves despite spending a big chunk of the third quarter on the sidelines in favor of Shonn Greene. His touchdown came at the goal line in the fourth quarter and put the Jets up with five minutes left before the Jaguars' reclaimed the lead.
 Justin Miller - DBNov. 15 - 11:53 am et
Jets declared CB/KR Justin Miller, DB Ahmad Carroll, LB Vernon Gholston, LB Ryan Fowler, OL Matt Slauson, RB Danny Woodhead, QB Kevin O'Connell and QB Erik Ainge inactive for Week 10 against the Jaguars.
Brad Smith is active and may get a chance to return punts with Miller out. Lito Sheppard will play, but won't start over Dwight Lowery.
 Dwight Lowery - DBNov. 13 - 2:10 pm et
Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed that CB Dwight Lowery will get the starting nod over Lito Sheppard on Sunday.
Ryan tried to say Sheppard isn't starting because of his season-long quadriceps injury, but he's struggled on the field all year and may have lost his job outright. Lowery has good ball skills and will be targeted often opposite Darrelle Revis. He's a solid cornerback pickup in IDP leagues.

 Leon Washington - RBNov. 12 - 5:33 pm et
Leon Washington (broken leg) is "reasonably optimistic" that he'll be ready for the start of the 2010 season.
"When the team gets back [for offseason workouts] in March, it's my goal to be moving around pretty good," said Washington. His timetable for a full recovery is 6-12 months, though much will depend on how his body reacts as he tests the leg. Washington is due to hit restricted free agency, though it's likely that the Jets will re-sign him to a one-year deal.

 Brad Smith - WRNov. 12 - 1:21 pm et
Brad Smith (quad) was limited in practice Thursday and "looks to be a long shot" for Week 10 according to beat writer Rich Cmini.
We're not sure exactly when the injury happened as the Jets are coming off a bye, but Smith has been nicked up for most of the year. He was expected to run the Jets' version of the Wildcat with Leon Washington (leg) out for the season. Expect David Clowney to be the No. 3 receiver this week.

 Kris Jenkins - DLNov. 11 - 8:32 pm et
Jets NT Kris Jenkins (injured reserve) underwent reconstructive surgery Wednesday on his torn ACL.
The Jets say they expect Jenkins back for the start of the offseason program in March, but he'll likely be limited all the way into training camp. While it's good news that Jenkins suffered a "clean tear" of the ligament, he turns 31 before next season and New York does not have good depth behind him.

 Lito Sheppard - DBNov. 11 - 8:00 am et
Jets RCB Lito Sheppard is expected to return from his quad injury this week.
Sheppard has missed five of the last six games with the injury. He's a solid cover corner when healthy, but is a liability when asked to tackle. Dwight Lowery was starting in place of Sheppard.
