Check out some draft-day surprises, along with a few winners and losers after one of the most unpredictable NBA drafts in history.

 Hedo Turkoglu-G/F-MagicJul. 3 - 11:46 pm et
The Raptors and free agent Hedo Turkoglu have agreed on a five-year contract, according to the Toronto Globe and Mail.
The deal is "in excess of $50 million" and to clear enough cap space the Raptors must renounce their rights to free agents Shawn Marion, Carlos Delfino, and Anthony Parker. (There are rumors of Marion being involved in a sign-and-trade, but so far nothing concrete has been reported.) The Raptors are probably overpaying for Turkoglu, but until the dust settles we're giving GM Bryan Colangelo the benefit of the doubt.

 Richard Hamilton-G/F-PistonsJul. 3 - 10:03 pm et
Pistons president Joe Dumars is scheduled to meet with head coach candidate Avery Johnson later this weekend.
Johnson seems like the front-runner to take over in Detroit, even though Dumars, who wants to name a new head coach by Tuesday, said recently that Johnson's hiring is "not a given". Other known candidates include Cavaliers assistant John Kuester and Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau.

 Von Wafer-G-RocketsJul. 3 - 9:08 pm et
The Rockets agreement with free agent Trevor Ariza makes it "highly unlikely" that Von Wafer will play in Houston next season, according to Wafer's agent, Mitchell Butler.
"None of it made any sense to me," Butler said. "From what I heard, they made a half-hearted effort to keep Ron and no effort to keep Von." He mentioned that several teams are interested in Wafer, but would not name them.

 Hedo Turkoglu-G/F-MagicJul. 3 - 9:03 pm et
The Oregonian is reporting that free agent Hedo Turkoglu has rejected an offer to sign with the Trail Blazers and has ended negotiations with the team.
Turkoglu could be headed to the Raptors, who are thought to be offering a five-year deal worth $56 million ($6 million more than the Blazers' offer). In order to make such a large committment, Toronto would need to renounce free agents Shawn Marion, Carlos Delfino, and Anthony Parker. The Blazers, meanwhile, are already looking into potential FA acquisitions in the $9 million range.

 Shawn Marion-F-RaptorsJul. 3 - 8:28 pm et
According to the Toronto Globe and Mail, the Raptors have offered Shawn Marion a four-year contract worth approximately $34 million.
ESPN.com reports that "a verbal agreement is not imminent" and Marion is holding out for a five-year deal worth closer to $50 million. There might not be any teams willing to pay $10 million a year for an aging role player, meaning Marion doesn't have much leverage. Most observers feel that he will eventually sign with Toronto, partly because of his longstanding relationship with GM Bryan Colangelo.

 Monta Ellis-G-WarriorsJul. 3 - 7:34 pm et
The San Jose Mercury News reports that Warriors owner Chris Cohan is "believed to be seriously considering selling his 80% stake in the franchise in the next year or two."
There is no indication of who might buy the team, and it should be noted that this isn't the first time these rumors have been floated. Warriors fans are probably hoping there's some truth in it, however, as their franchise has missed the playoffs 14 of the past 15 seasons.

 Hedo Turkoglu-G/F-MagicJul. 3 - 6:28 pm et
The Blazers announced on Friday that they have not yet reached an agreement with free agent Hedo Turkoglu, despite reports to the contrary.
No deal can be made official until July 8th anyway, but for the moment neither the Blazers nor Turkoglu's agent would confirm the agreement. The Raptors remain interested in Turkoglu, but all signs point to his signing with Portland.
