 Joe Sakic-C-AvalancheMay. 9 - 3:30 pm et
Joel Quenneville will not serve as the Avalanche's coach next season.
"After meeting with Joel, we mutually agreed that the best decision for both parties involved is to go separate ways," said GM Francois Giguere. "On behalf of the organization, I want to thank Joel for his years of service and wish him the best in his coaching career." Quenneville had a 131-92-23 in three seasons with Colorado. There have been rumors that Colorado could be interested in signing Pat Burns, who wants to return to coaching in the NHL.

 Jason Blake-W-Maple LeafsMay. 9 - 1:13 pm et
Jason Blake, Chris Chelios, and Fernando Pisani have been named Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy finalists.
The award is given to the player who best displays the qualities of sportsmanship, perseverance, and dedication to the sport. Blake was one of three Leafs players to play in all 82 games despite being diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in October. Chelios played in his 24th NHL season. He currently ranks sixth in the all-time games played list with 1,616. Pisani was sidelined for the first 26 games of the season because of ulcerative colitis. However, he managed to return on December 2nd and he did not miss another game this season.

 Mats Sundin-C-Maple LeafsMay. 9 - 12:39 pm et
The Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks reportedly will not grant Toronto permission to speak to their respective General Managers.
That would prevent the Leafs from hiring Detroit GM Ken Holland or San Jose GM Doug Wilson to become the Leafs new General Manager. Toronto will also reportedly not be allowed to approach Detroit Assistant GM, Jim Nill. "It doesn't matter how many times I tell members of the Toronto media that Ken Holland and Jim Nill are not coming to Toronto, they still are mentioned as possibilities or candidates," Detroit Senior VP Jim Devellano said. "I'm telling you that is not the case." Stay tuned as the Leafs hunt for a General Manager continues.

 Olaf Kolzig-G-CapitalsMay. 9 - 12:31 pm et
Olaf Kolzig believes he has played his last game as a Washington Capital.
Kolzig will become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He has been in the Washington Capitals organization since they drafted him in 1989. "For me, it was disappointing the way it ended," Kolzig said. "It's unfortunate, because they have a good team here now. It's a fantastic team, fantastic group of guys. Not to be a part of that is going to be tough, especially after 17 years and three years of what we went through post-lockout. It just doesn't feel right. But at the same time, as an athlete, you have to know when to move on."

 Rod Brind'Amour-C-HurricanesMay. 9 - 11:54 am et
Carolina owner, Peter Karmanos, will meet with coach Peter Laviolette next week.
The two will discuss Laviolette's future with the club. It is unclear whether GM Jim Rutherford will also be a part of the conversation, but we must assume that he will be. Karmanos was frustrated with Carolina's poor performance this season, especially after getting off to such a strong start to the season.

 Tuukka Rask-G-BruinsMay. 9 - 10:59 am et
Tuukka Rask is having an inconsistent post-season in the minors.
Rask won his first six games in the playoffs for the Providence Bruins while compiling a 1.14 GAA and a .952 save percentage. However, the youngster has lost the past three games and has a 3.13 GAA to go along with a horrible .861 save percentage. This is to be expected from a young goalie, and it will be good for Rask to spend next season in the minors learning to be more consistent.
