 Chris Waters-R- Orioles Nov. 20 - 5:14 pm et

Orioles designated LHP Chris Waters for assignment.
Waters appeared in five games (one start) this season on the major league level, posting a 5.40 ERA and 5/5 K/BB ratio in 11 2/3 innings. He had a 4.49 ERA in 29 appearances (20 starts) at Triple-A.
 Craig Tatum-C- Orioles Nov. 20 - 3:36 pm et

Orioles claimed C Craig Tatum off waivers from the Reds.
Tatum, 26, hit .239/.300/.338 with three homers and 21 RBI in 213 at-bats this season with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky. He was given 68 major league at-bats and managed just 11 hits.
 Josh Bell-3B- Orioles Nov. 18 - 3:43 pm et

Orioles purchased the contracts of 3B Josh Bell, RHP Brandon Erbe, 1B Brandon Snyder, SS Pedro Florimon Jr., 1B Rhyne Hughes and RHP Luis Lebron.
Barring any unforeseen tinkering, Baltimore's 40-man roster is likely set for December's Rule 5 Draft. Bell, 22, was acquired from the Dodgers in the George Sherrill trade and is considered the Orioles' third baseman of the future. Erbe, 21, enjoyed his best professional season in 2009, going 5-4 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP between Class A Aberdeen and Double-A Bowie. Snyder, 23, is another promising young hitter, batting .289/.362/.460 with 12 homers and 88 RBI between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. Florimon, 22, made some real strides in 2009, batting .259/.327/.412 with nine homers, 69 RBI, 26 stolen bases and 76 runs scored. He'll likely start 2010 at Double-A Bowie. Hughes, 26, was acquired from the Rays in the Gregg Zaun trade. He slugged 25 homers in 512 at-bats last season. Lebron, a 24-year-old, put up eye-popping numbers in 2009, posting a 2.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and an astounding 13.6 K/9. He could see the majors at some point next season.
 Adam Jones-OF- Orioles Nov. 16 - 9:43 am et

Adam Jones, who missed most of September with a sprained left ankle, is "raring to go," says manager Dave Trembley.
Jones will begin his offseason conditioning program at the Athletes' Performance Institute in Arizona on November 30. The newly-crowned Gold Glover batted .277/.335/.457 with 19 homers, 70 RBI, 83 runs scored and 10 stolen bases last season, and enters 2010 with high fantasy expectations.
 Brad Bergesen-S- Orioles Nov. 16 - 9:33 am et

Brad Bergesen, who suffered a deep shin bruise at the end of July, will begin a running program this week.
His rehab has had a few starts and stops, but it appears he is finally ready to go. Bergesen's season came to an end on July 31 after he was hit in the left shin by a Billy Butler line drive. The 24-year-old right hander was in the thick of the Rookie of the Year discussion at the time, finishing at 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 19 starts. Bergesen has told manager Dave Trembley that he will be 100 percent for spring training.
 Nolan Reimold-OF- Orioles Nov. 16 - 9:24 am et

Nolan Reimold is pain-free after undergoing surgery to repair a partially torn Achilles tendon, reports Roch Kubato of MASNSports.com.
Reimold put together an impressive rookie campaign, batting .279/.365/.466 with 15 homers, 45 RBI and eight stolen bases in 358 at-bats before undergoing surgery in late-September. Kubato writes that he is on a "normal schedule" for offseason workouts, so fantasy owners should keep the 26-year-old outfielder on their radar around draft time.
 Mark Hendrickson-R- Orioles Nov. 12 - 9:15 am et

Andy MacPhail plans to speak with Mark Hendrickson's agent Joe Urbon before the team's exclusive negotiating window ends next Thursday.
Hendrickson doesn't belong in the rotation, but he had some value in 44 appearances as a reliever, posting a 3.44 ERA and 37/14 K/BB ratio in 55 innings. Manager Dave Trembley has advocated for the return of the 35-year-old southpaw.
 Michel Hernandez-C- Orioles Nov. 10 - 9:33 pm et

Orioles signed C Michel Hernandez to a minor league contract.
Hernandez, 31, hit .242 with a home run and 12 RBI in 35 games with the Rays in 2009 and was 9-for-46 (.196) with six RBI in 55 games at Triple-A Durham. He'll fight for the O's backup job in the spring.
 Adam Jones-OF- Orioles Nov. 10 - 3:29 pm et

The American League Gold Glove winners were announced on Tuesday, with Adam Jones of the Orioles taking home his first award.
Jones, Torii Hunter and Ichiro make up the outfield while Mark Teixeira, Placido Polanco, Derek Jeter, Evan Longoria comprise the infield. Joe Mauer was recognized as the American League's best receiver while Mark Buehrle captured his first Gold Glove. Longoria is another first-timer. 2009 was the first time Jeter and Teixeira have been recognized with the award since 2006. Jones qualifies as the biggest surprise, as he ranked in the middle of the pack among center fielders with advanced defensive metrics. Franklin Gutierrez of the Mariners has a legitimate gripe here, but these awards aren't the be-all end-all anyways.

 Armando Gabino-S- Orioles Nov. 9 - 2:55 pm et

Orioles claimed RHP Armando Gabino off waivers from the Twins.
Gabino posted a 2.94 ERA and 64/24 K/BB ratio in 98 innings at Triple-A as a 25-year-old, but coughed up seven runs over 3 2/3 innings during his first taste of the majors. He's a potential middle relief option, but nothing more.

 Adam Jones-OF- Orioles Nov. 8 - 8:57 am et

Adam Jones reportedly has won the Gold Glove for his work manning centerfield in Baltimore.
The official announcement isn't due for another week or so, but Jones' brother broke the news... on MySpace. Take it with a grain of salt, but if true, he would win it over the more deserving Franklin Gutierrez of Seattle. Jones' UZR fielding rating places him 12th among all centerfielders despite repeated reports of fantastic defense. Gutierrez is first, and it's not even close.

 Danys Baez-R- Orioles Nov. 4 - 7:49 pm et

Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports that Danys Baez is open to returning to the Orioles next season.
Baez's agent says his client "would certainly entertain the prospect of returning," but don't expect the Orioles to be silly enough to give him another $19 million contract this time around. After missing all of 2008 following Tommy John surgery, Baez posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 59 appearances this season. While his strikeout rate fell to a career-low of 5.02 K/9, his career-high 60.9% groundball rate was among the league-leaders.
 Nick Markakis-OF- Orioles Nov. 3 - 9:48 am et

Orioles manager Dave Trembley doesn't expect Andy McPhail to part with any of their young pitching in order to acquire a bat.
"I can't see us trading any of our good young arms. I think Andy's been very consistent with that," said Trembley. "...He has said we'll grow the arms and buy the bats. I don't see us trading those high-quality arms. I think it would have to be something really, really overwhelming for that to be considered." Many Orioles fans have clamored for a bat like Adrian Gonzalez, but they are far more likely to consider free agents like Carlos Delgado, Troy Glaus or Adrian Beltre.
 Rich Hill-S- Orioles Oct. 30 - 10:52 pm et

Orioles sent LHP Rich Hill, RHP Alfredo Simon and RHP Bob McCrory outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
McCrory, who recently underwent shoulder surgery, would seem to be the one from the group most likely to remain in the organization. Hill had surgery in August to repair a torn labrum. He's aiming to return in spring training, but it's doubtful that he'll open 2010 on a major league roster.
 Chad Moeller-C- Orioles Oct. 30 - 9:22 am et

According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have offered backup catcher Chad Moeller a minor league contract.
The O's declined Moeller's $850,000 option for 2010 on Thursday to clear room on the 40-man roster, but made it clear to him that they want him back. He plans to scout the open market before considering Baltimore's offer. "I'm going to look to see what options are available," said Moeller, "and if there is nothing better as far as a guaranteed major league job, I'll probably be back."
 Chad Moeller-C- Orioles Oct. 29 - 5:20 pm et

The Orioles have declined Chad Moeller's 2010 option worth $850,000.
Moeller hit .258/.313/.438 with two homers and 10 RBI in 30 games as Matt Wieters' backup. The O's will look for a cheaper option for 2010.
 Melvin Mora-3B- Orioles Oct. 29 - 5:07 pm et

The Orioles officially announced Thursday that they have declined Melvin Mora's 2010 option worth $8 million.
The move was expected. Mora, who turns 38 in February, hit .260/.321/.358 this season with just 28 extra-base hits in 484 plate appearances. He's now headed for free agency and will look to sign on elsewhere as a utility infielder. The O's apparently have no interest in bringing him back at a lesser price and could try Ty Wigginton at third base until prospect Josh Bell proves he's ready.

 Brad Bergesen-S- Orioles Oct. 21 - 8:53 am et

Brad Bergesen, who suffered a deep shin bruise at the end of July, is hoping to begin a running program in the next two weeks.
Bergesen will begin by walking on a treadmill, then he'll progress to running freely and doing sprints. "I've got to believe that by mid-November, I would think that I'm running pain-free and able to do everything with no restrictions," he said. "That's just my own personal guess." The 24-year-old right-hander went 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA before his season was cut short.

 Nick Markakis-OF- Orioles Oct. 13 - 4:47 pm et

Bench coach Dave Jauss is the only member of the Orioles' staff who will not return in 2010.
The Orioles have not named a replacement. Rick Kranitz will return as pitching coach, as will hitting coach Terry Crowley, first base coach John Shelby, third base coach Juan Samuel and bullpen coach Alan Dunn.
 Luke Scott-DH- Orioles Oct. 5 - 8:11 am et

Luke Scott finished 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the Orioles' season finale on Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Quite a way to go out. Scott strained a muscle in his foot in the middle of last week and hadn't played in the month of October. He probably should have left it that way, as his batting average dropped from .261 to .258.
