 J.D. Closser-C- Dodgers Feb. 8 - 5:10 pm et

Dodgers signed C J.D. Closser to a minor league contract.
Closser spent extensive time in the major leagues with the Rockies from 2004-2006 -- posting a .687 OPS in 508 plate appearances -- but he hasn't cracked a roster since. He'll provide Triple-A insurance for the Dodgers in case of injury.
 Brian Giles-OF- Dodgers Feb. 7 - 1:20 pm et

Dodgers signed OF Brian Giles to a minor league contract.
The deal comes with an invitation to spring training, where Giles will try to win a spot on the Dodgers' Opening Day roster as a pinch-hitting lefty or fifth outfielder. It might be a tough task, considering Reed Joshnson, Jason Repko and Xavier Paul will also be in camp. Giles, 39, just .191/.277/.271 in 225 at-bats for the Padres last season. He has zero fantasy potential.
 Brian Giles-OF- Dodgers Feb. 7 - 8:15 am et

MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports that the Dodgers have signed OF Brian Giles to a minor league contract.
Giles hit .191/.277/.271 in a forgettable 225 at-bats with the Padres this past year, limited to 61 games due to a knee contusion. He'll compete with Jason Repko and Xavier Paul for the fifth outfielder's spot along with Doug Mientkiewicz for the lefty pinch-hitter role. If he makes the team, it'll be at a $550,000 base salary with an additional $200,000 in incentives and can opt out of his contract at the end of spring training if he doesn't crack the roster. Despite his awful year, he remains one of the better players in the game in working a walk and should have enough pop left to be a major-league contributor.

 Alfredo Amezaga-OF- Dodgers Feb. 3 - 1:50 pm et

Dodgers signed IF-OF Alfredo Amezaga to a minor league contract.
He will earn $650,000 if he makes the club out of Spring Training and could earn an additional $800,000 in incentives. Amezaga, who turned 32 last month, was limited to just 27 games last season because of a left knee injury that eventually led to microfracture surgery. As a result, he was non-tendered by the Marlins in December. The Dodgers hope he can return to form as one of the more versatile players in the sport.
 Alfredo Amezaga-OF- Dodgers Feb. 3 - 9:21 am et

A club official told ESPN Los Angeles late Thursday evening that the Dodgers have not yet signed Alfredo Amezaga to a minor league contract.
The Dodgers have interest, but no pen has been put to paper. Amezaga, a 31-year-old utilityman, hit .217/.267/.261 last year before having his season cut short by microfracture left knee surgery. The Dodgers are probably taking extra time to review his medical records. Stay tuned.

 Ramon Ortiz-S- Dodgers Feb. 3 - 8:59 am et

Dodgers signed RHP Ramon Ortiz to a minor league contract.
Ortiz, 36, went 5-6 with a 3.05 ERA last season for the Giants' Triple-A affiliate in Fresno. He hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2007, when he split time between the Twins and Rockies.
 Manny Ramirez-OF- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 10:09 pm et

Dodgers manager Joe Torre said he will attempt to give more off days to veterans Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake this season.
"We're going to look at that, the daytime stuff, and Blake also," Torre said. "It looks like we have the bench to do that. With Reed Johnson, we can also rest Andre Ethier and not have to relocate Matt Kemp." Ramirez should like this news, as he complained last season that his legs were wearing down from playing the outfield.

 Jeff Weaver-R- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 8:46 pm et

Dodgers re-signed RHP Jeff Weaver to a minor league contract.
He will receive an invite to spring training. The 33-year-old Weaver thrived as a swingman in '09, posting a 6-4 record, a 3.65 ERA and a 64/33 K/BB ratio in 28 appearances (seven starts). Barring an upset, he will return to the same role this coming season.
 Brian Giles-OF- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 8:06 pm et

According to Brian Giles' agent, between 8-10 teams have interest in his client and he expects to have a deal by the end of the week.
Giles, 38, hit .191/.277/.271 with two home runs and 23 RBI in 225 at-bats this past season and was limited to 61 games because of a knee contusion. His days as a productive major league player are over.
 Alfredo Amezaga-OF- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 6:26 pm et

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that free agent utilityman Alfredo Amezaga has signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers.
The deal, according to Rosenthal, would be worth $650,000 if Amezaga makes the team, with the potential for $800,000 more in incentives. Amezaga underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee last July and hasn't suffered any setbacks. His doctor prescribed a conservative rehabilitation program and Amezaga only began running a few weeks ago. The 31-year-old utilityman was limited to just 27 games last season because of the knee injury and batted only .217/.267/.261 when he was healthy, but he does provide defensive versatility.

 Reed Johnson-OF- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 8:59 am et

Dodgers signed OF Reed Johnson to a one-year, $800,000 contract.
Johnson can earn another $250,000 through performance bonuses based on games played and plate appearances. The 33-year-old was limited to 65 games last season because of a fractured foot, but he hit .255/.330/.412 with four home runs and 22 RBI during the 165 at-bats he was healthy. He's expected to play all around the outfield this year for the Dodgers.
 Jeff Weaver-R- Dodgers Feb. 2 - 8:45 am et

The Dodgers remain interested in re-signing Jeff Weaver as a long reliever and emergency spot starter, according to MLB.com's Ken Gurnick.
Weaver did well for the Dodgers last season in a swingman role, posting a 6-4 record, a 3.65 ERA and a 64/33 K/BB ratio in 28 appearances (seven starts). The club is also keeping tabs on Chien-Ming Wang and Noah Lowry, but Weaver might actually be the safest bet of the three.
 Reed Johnson-OF- Dodgers Feb. 1 - 9:16 pm et

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Reed Johnson has passed a physical for the Dodgers and his one-year deal is now final.
That was quick. Johnson, who just turned 33, hit .255/.330/.412 with four home runs and 22 RBI during the 165 at-bats he was healthy last season. He will serve in a utility outfield role for the Dodgers this year. The exact financial details of the contract should be forthcoming.

 Reed Johnson-OF- Dodgers Jan. 31 - 3:50 pm et

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers are making a "hard run" at free agent outfielder Reed Johnson.
Rosenthal adds that a "deal may be close or already done," so talks have clearly reached a serious stage. Johnson, 33, was limited to 65 games last season because of a fractured foot. He hit .255/.330/.412 with four homers and 22 RBI during the 165 at-bats he was healthy and will serve as a utility outfielder next year in Los Angeles if (or when) a deal is struck.

 Alfredo Amezaga-OF- Dodgers Jan. 28 - 1:44 pm et

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that free agent utility man Alfredo Amezaga worked out for four teams last week.
Amezaga, 31, underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee last July and hasn't suffered any setbacks, however his doctor Richard Steadma prescribed a conservative rehabiliation program. As such, Amezaga only began running a few weeks ago. The Marlins non-tendered him in December because of the surgery, but he was regarded as one of the most versatile players in baseball before the injury.
 John Koronka-S- Dodgers Jan. 28 - 12:56 pm et

Dodgers signed LHP John Koronka to a minor league contract.
He'll get an invite to Spring Training. Koronka posted an ugly 11.05 ERA in two starts with the Marlins last season and carries a 6.25 ERA in 31 big league appearances (30 starts). The 29-year-old southpaw shouldn't threaten anyone for a roster spot.
 Timo Perez-OF- Dodgers Jan. 28 - 12:50 pm et

Dodgers signed OF Timo Perez to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to Spring Training. Perez, who turns 35 in April, spent all of last season in the Mexican League after failing to make the Tigers out of Spring Training. The .269/.308/.382 lifetime hitter hasn't played in the majors since 2007.
 Brad Ausmus-C- Dodgers Jan. 27 - 4:32 pm et

Dodgers signed C Brad Ausmus to a one-year, $850,000 contract with a $1 million mutual option for 2011.
With a $150,000 buyout on the mutual option, he's guaranteed $1 million. Ausmus, who turns 41 in April, batted .295/.343/.368 in 95 at-bats last season, mostly due to a .370 batting average on balls in play. Don't look for him to repeat that level of success this season, but he is still one of the most prepared catchers in the business, no matter his workload.
 Ronnie Belliard-2B- Dodgers Jan. 26 - 10:07 pm et

Ronnie Belliard's one-year, $825,000 contract with the Dodgers is not guaranteed, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.
Belliard's agent, according to Hernandez, denied that the contract would become guaranteed if Belliard reported to camp at 209 pounds or less, but did say that the club has requested that he do so. If he makes the team, Belliard could take home another $250,000 with incentives based on plate appearances.
 Jon Garland-S- Dodgers Jan. 26 - 6:28 pm et

Jon Garland will get a one-year, $4.7 million contract with the Padres, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.
The deal is actually worth at least $5.3 million, because a $6.75 million mutual option for 2011 includes a $600,000 buyout. At this price, San Diego should be thrilled -- Garland could easily post a sub-4 ERA prior to the trade deadline and net a nice prospect via trade. The 30-year-old Garland was 11-13 with a 4.01 ERA, 1.40 WHIP in 33 starts with the Diamondbacks and Dodgers last season.
