 Scott Eyre-R- Phillies Nov. 19 - 4:34 pm et

In discussions with Scott Eyre's agent, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. isn't convinced that the 37-year-old southpaw won't sign elsewhere.
Eyre has previously expressed that he would play for the Phillies next season or retire, but Amaro isn't so sure. "I’ve heard that noise before, and I’ve seen guys play a long time after the statement is made," Amaro said. "The almighty dollar always speaks the loudest. Just like in any negotiation, it takes two to tango. We may have a difference of opinion in terms of the value. If that’s the case, and someone else views him at a higher value, we may risk losing him." Eyre recently underwent minor surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow after managing a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings in 2009.
Chan Ho Park-R- Phillies Nov. 19 - 4:31 pm et

The Phillies want Chan Ho Park to return next season, but only as a reliever.
"I think he understands," said general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. "In the back of his mind, maybe [he'd like to be a starter]. But after having discussions with the agent, they know his best role is as a reliever. Now, if there’s somebody out there who wants to have him start, he may want to go do that. When he goes out there looking, we’ll have to look elsewhere as well. We can’t be left hanging. If we have to do something to improve the team with someone else, we’ll move forward." Park was 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in seven starts this season, but had a 2.52 ERA in 38 apperances out of the bullpen.
Chan Ho Park-R- Phillies Nov. 18 - 9:16 am et

Chan Ho Park said earlier this month that he wants to be a starter in 2010.
"I want to be a starter again," Park told The Korea Times in early November. "Being a starter is more attractive for me, because I can take over a whole game." The Phillies want him back, but probably only as a reliever. The free agent right-hander went 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in seven starts this season before getting bumped to the bullpen. Once moved, he finished 2-2 with a 2.52 ERA in 38 relief appearances.
 Quintin Berry-OF- Phillies Nov. 17 - 5:20 pm et

Phillies purchased the contracts of OF Quintin Berry, LHP Yohan Flande and RHP Jesus Sanchez.
The moves ensure that Berry, Flande and Sanchez will be protected from December's Rule 5 Draft. Berry, who turns 25 on Saturday, has a .275/.363/.340 line in parts of four seasons in the minors, but Philadelphia is most intrigued by his supreme speed -- Berry has 173 stolen bases in 457 games as a pro. Flande, 23, split the 2009 season between Class A Clearwater and Double-A Reading, going 11-5 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Sanchez, who was acquired in the Bobby Abreu trade, impressed after making the switch from catcher to starting pitcher this season, posting a 2.41 ERA over his final 15 starts with Class A Lakewood.
 Scott Eyre-R- Phillies Nov. 17 - 2:27 pm et

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. is open to bringing back Scott Eyre next season, but in addition to the pitcher's rehab from elbow surgery, money may play a factor in his return.
"We think the surgery went well," Amaro said. "We’re deciding whether the cost of bringing him back will be prohibitive. He may have priced himself out of our range." The 37-year-old southpaw underwent surgery to remove loose fragments from his elbow last week after posting a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings out of the Philadelphia bullpen in 2009. If Eyre truly wants to either pitch for the Phillies next season or retire, as reported, the two sides should be able to work out a reasonable contract.
 Pedro Martinez-S- Phillies Nov. 16 - 6:08 pm et

Pedro Martinez's agent, Fern Cuza, told FOXSports.com Monday that his client intends to pitch a full season in 2010.
Martinez joined up with the Phillies in late July of 2009 and compiled a 5-1 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in nine starts. He also made three postseason starts. The 38-year-old hasn't thrown more than 110 innings since 2006, but is still likely to draw interest as a low-risk, high-reward veteran hurler. It wouldn't be shocking to see him back in Philadelphia.
 Eric Bruntlett-2B- Phillies Nov. 16 - 1:42 pm et

Eric Bruntlett has opted for free agency rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Bruntlett, a 31-year-old utilityman, hit .171/.224/.238 with no home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases in 110 plate appearances this season. The Phillies will now look to free agency to find a player that can more effectively spell middle infielders Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley. Philadelphia also removed RHP John Ennis, RHP Tyler Walker, C Paul Hoover and 1B Andy Tracy from the 40-man roster, granting each free agency.
 Brad Lidge-R- Phillies Nov. 11 - 10:54 pm et

Brad Lidge underwent surgery Wednesday to repair his flexor pronator tendon in his right hip and to have a loose body removed from his elbow.
"Brad could be one to two weeks behind in spring training, but, overall, we feel very good about his recovery time," GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We're hopeful that he will be ready close to Opening Day."‬ While there's been talk that the Phillies would sign a closer this winter, odds are that Lidge will have the job going into next season.
 Pedro Feliz-3B- Phillies Nov. 10 - 3:56 pm et

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Phillies still have interest in bringing back Pedro Feliz next season.
The Phillies declined Feliz's $5.5 million option last week, but Heyman writes that they are interested in bringing him back at a slightly lower figure. The Phillies are expected to have interest in Chone Figgins, Adrian Beltre and Mark DeRosa, among others, when free agency begins.

 Scott Eyre-R- Phillies Nov. 10 - 2:21 pm et

Scott Eyre underwent surgery to remove loose fragments from his left elbow on Monday.
Eyre will be a free agent this winter, but has made it clear that he plans to either pitch for the Phillies or retire. The 37-year-old southpaw posted a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings out of the Philadelphia bullpen in 2009.
 Raul Ibanez-OF- Phillies Nov. 10 - 2:18 pm et

Raul Ibanez underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia on Monday.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said the sports hernia was on the left side of his body, but that Dr. Bill Meyers also repaired some damage on the right side of Ibanez's abdomen. The 37-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for spring training.
 Pedro Feliz-3B- Phillies Nov. 8 - 6:36 pm et

Phillies declined 3B Pedro Feliz's $5.5 million option for 2010.
Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said last week that he intends to explore opportunities this winter to upgrade at third base, so this should come as no surprise. Feliz hit just .266/.308/.386 in 580 at-bats this season. He's a very solid defender but the Phils are looking to add a little more offense. There's some speculation that they may go after free agent Adrian Beltre.
 Raul Ibanez-OF- Phillies Nov. 7 - 6:12 pm et

Raul Ibanez will have surgery on Monday to repair a sports hernia.
The news doesn't come as much of a surprise, since Ibanez played through pain above his abdomen for nearly four months. It surely affected his performance at the plate, as Ibanez batted just .232/.326/.448 with 12 home runs and 33 RBI after the All-Star break. Hopefully the 37-year-old outfielder will start spring training in top condition. He has two years and $23 million left on his current contract.
 Brad Lidge-R- Phillies Nov. 7 - 6:04 pm et

Brad Lidge will have surgery on Wednesday to remove a loose body from his right elbow.
He will also have his right flexor tendon evaluated. Lidge's elbow caused him some pain during the season, but he insists that the condition never affected his performance. His 7.21 ERA suggests otherwise. Lidge's agent Rex Gary expects him to be ready for the start of spring training, but his rehab could be longer if treatment is required on his flexor tendon.
 Brad Lidge-R- Phillies Nov. 7 - 8:42 am et

Brad Lidge may require arthroscopic surgery to clean up loose bone fragments in his pitching elbow.
Lidge is undergoing a MRI to help make this determination. The ailment reportedly never affected Lidge in the regular season, during which he also battled a sprained right knee. His 7.21 ERA makes that hard to believe. Any surgery would not compromise Lidge's availability in spring training. Raul Ibanez (muscle tears in groin, abdomen) and Jamie Moyer (torn meniscus in knee) both also underwent MRIs and may also be candidates for surgery
 Scott Eyre-R- Phillies Nov. 6 - 4:55 pm et

Scott Eyre will have surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow on Monday.
Eyre will be a free agent this winter, but plans to either pitch for the Phillies next season or retire. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said they will not decide on the 37-year-old southpaw's future until after the surgery. Eyre posted a 1.50 ERA in 30 innings out the Phillies bullpen in 2009.

 Pedro Feliz-3B- Phillies Nov. 6 - 4:18 pm et

The Phillies are exploring options to replace third baseman Pedro Feliz, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. admitted Friday.
The Phils have until Monday to decline or exercise Feliz's $5.5 million option for 2010. "More than anything else, we want to see what options may be out there for us," Amaro said, "and decide whether picking his option up is best suited for this club to try to move forward." Feliz hit just .266/.308/.386 this season but he still plays an excellent third base.
 Brett Myers-S- Phillies Nov. 6 - 2:38 pm et

After meeting Friday with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., free agent Brett Myers was told that the Phillies will not attempt to re-sign him.
Myers spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, going 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA in 1,183 2/3 innings split between the rotation and bullpen. When healthy he's a qualify third or fourth starter and potential late-inning reliever, but injuries and off-field issues no doubt convinced the Phillies to move on.
 Cliff Lee-S- Phillies Nov. 6 - 12:32 pm et

Phillies exercised LHP Cliff Lee's $9 million option for 2010.
Perhaps the biggest no-brainer of the offseason. Lee was 7-4 with a 3.39 ERA in 12 starts after joining the Phillies in July, and was nearly untouchable during the postseason, posting a 1.56 ERA in five starts while going a perfect 4-0. Expect the Phillies to begin talks on an extension this winter.
 Pedro Martinez-S- Phillies Nov. 4 - 11:51 pm et

Pedro Martinez allowed four runs over four innings as the Phillies lost the World Series to the Yankees in six games.
Is this the way it ends for Martinez? Let's hope not. Though he was on regular rest, Martinez didn't have his patented command, throwing only 46 of 77 pitches for strikes. Hideki Matsui played his worst enemy again, driving in all four of the runs he was charged with. It would have been awful hard to take the ball from the future Hall of Famer, but Charlie Manuel is fair game to be second-guessed for letting Martinez pitch to Matsui in the third inning.
