Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 20 - 9:38 pm et

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports cites a source who says the Blue Jays and Dodgers have resumed talks of a possible Roy Halladay trade.
Brown adds that it looks like new general manger Alex Anthopoulos "is restarting the process of moving Doc." Earlier today, in a report from Carrie Muskat of MLB.com, we learned that the Blue Jays told the Cubs that they intend to move the 32-year-old right-hander this winter. Of the teams linked in conversation regarding Halladay, the Dodgers may need Halladay the most.

Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 20 - 6:26 pm et

The Blue Jays have contacted the Cubs regarding Roy Halladay, reports Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.
Don't get too excited, Cubs fans. Muskat writes that Chicago can't afford Halladay's $15.10 million salary in 2010 without including Milton Bradley in the deal. Unfortunately for the Cubs, Bradley isn't on Toronto's wishlist. In addition, the Blue Jays will likely ask for top prospect Starlin Castro, a player the Cubs are hesitant to part with. Either way, the Blue Jays told the Cubs that they intend to move Halladay this winter.

Reidier Gonzalez-S- Blue Jays Nov. 19 - 5:55 pm et

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Reidier Gonzalez from Double-A New Hampshire.
Gonzalez is now protected from being chosen in December's Rule 5 draft. The 24-year-old right-hander was 4-6 with a 2.90 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 17 starts with Double-A New Hampshire in 2009, but has never been considered a top prospect. He'll likely start next season with Triple-A Las Vegas.
Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 19 - 1:06 pm et

The Dodgers have focused on acquiring Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
The Dodgers lacked an ace all year long, but their need became abundantly clear when they had to turn to Vicente Padilla in an elimination game against the Phillies. Nightengale writes that the Dodgers would have to give up Chad Billingsley and others to acquire Halladay, which would be a mighty impressive haul if new general manager Alex Anthopoulos is able to pull it off.

Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 18 - 4:56 pm et

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Yankees have expressed interest in Roy Halladay.
Surprise, surprise. Heyman writes that with just one year remaining on his contract, a package for Halladay might start with Phil Hughes or Joba Chamberlain, not both, as former general manager J.P. Ricciardi asked for leading up to the trade deadline. What might give the Yankees an edge, according to Heyman, is that Halladay could engineer his no-trade clause to a team amenable to an extension, much like Johan Santana did two years ago. Though new general manager Alex Anthopoulos hasn't acknowledged such a window is possible, the Yankees are one of a select few teams, as are the Red Sox, who could award Halladay with the long-term stability he seeks.

Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 17 - 6:29 pm et

MLB.com has learned that the Blue Jays may allow another team a window to negotiate a contract extension with Roy Halladay should a trade be consummated.
The reasoning behind a window being granted lies with the fact that the Blue Jays would likely receive a better package for Halladay if a contract extension could be signed. Former general manager J.P. Ricciardi would not grant such an extension. It's becoming more and more obvious that new GM Alex Anthopoulos has a far better handle on how to go about trading a superstar.

Marco Scutaro-SS- Blue Jays Nov. 17 - 3:17 pm et

According to his agent Peter Greenberg, free agent Marco Scutaro will "entertain all possibilities," including a return to the Blue Jays, reports FOXSports.com.
"He definitely hasn't closed the door on Toronto at all," Greenberg said. Scutaro batted .282/.379/.409 with 12 homers, 60 RBI and 100 runs scored in 2009, and is drumming up interest as a shortstop or a second baseman. According to Greenberg, Scutaro was offered a contract extension by the Blue Jays both during and after the season. Scutaro would consider accepting a one-year deal if he is offered arbitration.
Vernon Wells-OF- Blue Jays Nov. 13 - 1:02 pm et

Vernon Wells underwent surgery on his left wrist Thursday.
The procedure was deemed a success and Wells is expected to be fully recovered by the start of spring training. The 30-year-old outfielder hit .260/.311/.400 with 15 home runs in 158 games this past season.
Lyle Overbay-1B- Blue Jays Nov. 11 - 4:30 pm et

According to FOXSports.com, the Mariners have discussed a trade with the Blue Jays about Lyle Overbay.
According to the report, Overbay "would welcome" a deal since he lives in the Pacific Northwest. Overbay is locked in at $7 million next season, but a potential trade doesn't mean that the Mariners wouldn't bring back Russell Branyan, as well. The Blue Jays seem determined to trade Overbay, as his name as been linked to several teams in the past week.

Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 11 - 1:46 pm et

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that that Yankees plan to inquire about Roy Halladay.
Additionally, Heyman writes that new Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is open to trading within the division. That the Yankees plan to inquire about the availability of Halladay isn't a surprise. Nearly every contender should.

Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 10 - 9:53 pm et

Sources informed MLB.com's Todd Zolecki on Tuesday that the chances of the Phillies trading for Roy Halladay this offseason are "highly unlikely."
The Phillies were unwilling to deal top talent this past summer for Halladay and the scenario is even less likely now that he has only one year left on his contract. The Phils, who shipped four prospects to Cleveland in July for Cliff Lee, are also wary of totally gutting their farm system. New Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulos may have trouble landing a large package of prospects for his ace this winter, and things won't get any easier at the 2010 trade deadline.

Brian Dopirak-1B- Blue Jays Nov. 10 - 4:49 pm et

Blue Jays purchased the contract of first baseman Brian Dopirak from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Toronto adds the 25-year-old first baseman to their 40-man roster on the heels of his .317/.371/.549 line with 27 home runs and 102 RBI between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Las Vegas this season. Some thought the former top-prospect deserved a call to the big leagues, but Randy Ruiz got the assignment instead. At least he's protected from the Rule 5 draft, now.
Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 10 - 9:31 am et

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Blue Jays are going to need to be "wowed" in order to move Roy Halladay.
J.P. Ricciardi said the same thing in July and look where that got him. Sherman cites one Toronto executive as saying, "We would rather have one above-average impact guy than eight ordinary guys." The Red Sox were believed to have the best offer for the Toronto ace back in July, but don't expect them to include Clay Buchholz in any offer this time around since Halladay is under contract for only one more season.
Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 9 - 10:36 pm et

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Phillies are "very much in the picture" this winter to acquire Toronto ace Roy Halladay.
Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos acknowledged during a conference call Saturday that he's going to listen to offers for Halladay this offseason. The Phillies were very close to landing the dominant right-hander at the 2009 trade deadline before talks ultimately fell through. They settled on Cliff Lee, who has been fantastic, but are apparently hungry for more. "Philadelphia is into winning now, and Halladay fits that," a rival front-office member told the Inquirer.

Mike McCoy-2B- Blue Jays Nov. 9 - 8:23 pm et

Blue Jays claimed infielder Mike McCoy off waivers from the Rockies.
McCoy, 28, hit .307 with two home runs, 27 doubles, 52 RBI and 102 runs scored at Triple-A Colorado Springs this season. He also stole 40 bases and finished the year with a .405 on-base percentage.
Roy Halladay-S- Blue Jays Nov. 7 - 5:15 pm et

During a conference call on Saturday, Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos hinted at a possible trade of Roy Halladay.
"He's probably one of the greatest if not the greatest Blue Jay to ever put on the uniform. But he wants to win and really, at this time, we were a 75-win team last year," said Anthopoulos. "I think he's stated that his timeline for winning and ours may not mesh and may not match for us right now." Many believed that former GM J.P. Ricciardi missed out on a fruitful return before the trade deadline, but Anthopoulos is more optimistic, saying there could be a "bullish market" for the 32-year-old right-hander since the free agent will be so thin on starting pitching. Halladay has one year and $15.75 million left on his current contract, a relative bargain considering what he figures to get when he hits free agency after 2010.
Kyle Phillips-C- Blue Jays Nov. 6 - 6:24 pm et

Blue Jays sent catcher Kyle Phillips, LHP Davis Romero and LHP Bill Murphy outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
All three are now off the 40-man roster. Phillips, 25, went 5-for-18 with three doubles and two RBI this season as a September call-up while Murphy posted a 3.18 ERA over 11 1/3 innings (eight relief appearances) for the Jays. Romero did not make it to Toronto.
Jarrett Hoffpauir-2B- Blue Jays Nov. 3 - 6:30 pm et

Blue Jays claimed second baseman Jarrett Hoffpauir off waivers from the Cardinals.
Under J.P. Ricciardi, the Blue Jays made a habit of putting in more offseason waiver claims than every other team in baseball and often waiving the players they picked up a short time later. We'll see if new GM Alex Anthopoulos likes the same method. Hoffpauir, an offensive-minded second baseman, batted .291/.357/.486 in 358 at-bats for Triple-A Memphis last season. The 26-year-old would hit in the majors, but he's below average defensively and he lacks the versatility to make it as a utilityman. He'd be nice to have stashed away in Triple-A in case Aaron Hill gets hurt, but he shouldn't be of much use otherwise.

Bill Murphy-R- Blue Jays Nov. 3 - 6:26 pm et

Blue Jays designated LHP Bill Murphy for assignment.
Murphy pitched in eight games for the Jays in April and May, allowing four runs in 11 1/3 innings. The third-round pick from Oakland's Moneyball draft in 2002 has bounced around a bunch, and it doesn't look like he'll ever turn into a useful reliever. He'll likely clear waivers and become a free agent.
Vernon Wells-OF- Blue Jays Nov. 3 - 1:34 pm et

Vernon Wells will undergo surgery next week to repair damaged cartilage in his left wrist.
He's expected to be healthy for spring training, but the surgery could impact the Blue Jays' chances of unloading Wells' contract this offseason. Wells hit .260/.311/.400 in 158 games this this season, yet is still owed $107 million through 2014.
