Defensive ends will make the biggest jump of any position in this year's franchise tag numbers.

Thanks to Julius Peppers' $16.68M salary last season, the defensive end price tag will increase from $8.99M to $12.398M. Running backs also see a nice jump, from $6.62M to $8.156M. The Raiders now have extra incentive to agree to a long-term deal with Richard Seymour while the Chargers figure out if Darren Sproles is worth over $8M in 2010.

Free agent Richard Seymour said Tuesday that he's interested in returning to Oakland and has already had contract talks with owner Al Davis.

Seymour played fairly well for the Raiders, though not nearly well enough to be worth the 2011 first-round draft pick for which he was exchanged. If a long-term deal can't be worked out, the Raiders are expected to apply the franchise tag to Seymour.

The Oakland Tribune expects the Raiders to use one of their franchise tags on free agent Richard Seymour.

Owner Al Davis probably isn't yet ready to admit the mistake of giving up a 2011 first-round pick for Seymour last summer. Seymour played mostly end in Oakland and would likely qualify there after the NFL counts his snaps, meaning his 2010 salary as a franchise player would approach $11 million.

Free agent DL Richard Seymour said Monday that he will not consider returning to the Patriots in 2010.

"There's probably about 31 teams I'd consider," Seymour said. Asked if New England is among them, he replied "That isn't something I'm looking to do at all." Seymour, 30, was clearly hurt when the Pats sent him to Oakland last September. New England, of course, stole a 2011 first-round pick in the deal.

Raiders DE Richard Seymour (back) put in a full practice Tuesday and is ready to go for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.

Seymour was forced out of the Week 11 win over the Bengals early but sounds like a full go. He has 30 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble on the season.

Raiders DE Richard Seymour is questionable for Thursday's game in Dallas with a lower back strain.

Seymour suffered the injury in Sunday's win against the Bengals. Coach Tom Cable said that "he (Seymour) was feeling pretty good today" and the team will "just kind of take it day to day." Seymour, 30, is in a contract year and can't afford to miss much time.
