Ray Emery had an MRI on his sore left hip on Monday.
There is a report that Emery has a torn labrum and may require surgery, but nothing has been confirmed. Emery has already gone under the knife once this season to repair an abdominal injury. GM Paul Holmgren said that the Flyers are still waiting on the results of the MRI, but he said Emery might be fine in the short term. "Is it something where down the road we need to address this surgically? We need to get a feel of where he's at right now," Holmgren said. "We all seem to think he's going to be fine for the short term, anyway. We'll have a better idea about the long term after we get the results." Holmgren suggested that Emery could be ready to play between the pipes on Wednesday. We'll keep you posted.

 Michael Leighton-G - Flyers Feb. 8 - 10:30 pm et

Michael Leighton turned aside 28 of 30 shots for the Flyers in their 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
This is the third start in a row for Leighton in place of Ray Emery, and although he's been solid it's the first time they've won. Emery has been skating, and is still considered day to day with his hip problem. We got a brief glance at what a healthy Emery does to Leighton's value over the last few weeks as Emery returned to the Flyers' lineup and made eight straight starts.

Ray Emery is questionable for Monday's game against the Devils.
Emery missed the last two games because of a minor hip injury. He practiced hard Sunday, which is a good sign. A decision will be made after Monday's morning skate. If he can't go, Michael Leighton will start.

 Michael Leighton-G - Flyers Feb. 7 - 1:59 am et

Michael Leighton was unable to steal a win for the Flyers on Saturday night as they fell to the Wild 2-1.
Leighton stopped 28 of the 30 shots that he faced, but couldn't manage to steal a victory. Leighton made back-to-back starts after Ray Emery experienced some tightness in his hip. This situation does bear some interest as Emery ripped off a seven start streak since returning from surgery earlier this season. Leighton might regain the number one gig in Philly if Emery's hip problems continue to persist. If you are an Emery owner or a Flyer fanatic, you'd definitely want to keep an eye on Emery's situation.

It is unclear if Ray Emery will start Saturday against Minnesota.
He did not play Wednesday in Edmonton for precautionary reasons due to some undisclosed soreness (likely his groin--although the Flyers have denied this). Michael Leighton played well in the 1-0 loss to the Oilers and he would be in line to start if Emery can't answer the bell.
