Dwight Freeney admitted that the long halftime break during the Super Bowl hampered his ability to play in the second half.
Freeney was a monster in the first half, but the 30-minute halftime show left his ankle "stiff." He tried to get it loose by running on the sideline and getting it re-taped, but he clearly wasn't the same player. He finished the game with one sack and will return next season as a candidate to lead the league in that category.

 Dwight Freeney-DL - Colts Feb. 7 - 4:39 pm et

Colts RE Dwight Freeney (ankle) is active for Super Bowl XLIV.
Their inactives are K Adam Vinatieri, G/C Mike Pollack, DT Fili Moala, OT Michael Toudouze, WR Sam Giguere, TE Colin Cloherty, DE Ervin Baldwin, and DL John Gill. Freeney is easily the biggest story, but he was likely to play all along. He is also in the starting lineup, indicating he may be able to play full-time.

CBS reports that Colts RE Dwight Freeney was spotted Sunday walking without a limp on his injured ankle.
CBS says Freeney took pleasure in all the attention he received during the week because of the ankle. The Colts' inactives will be posted in a few hours. Don't expect Indianapolis' all-world pass rusher to be among them.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dwight Freeney will play in the Super Bowl barring any setbacks in pregame warm-ups.
Freeney missed practice again Saturday. For the first time in two weeks, he will test the ankle before the game. It seems likely that he'll suit up, but the Colts' best pass rusher will be limited to a third-down role in obvious passing situations. Reliable veteran Raheem Brock will play the majority of the snaps.

Colts RE Dwight Freeney (ankle) did not practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Super Bowl XLIV.
Freeney said Thursday that he hoped to "test" his torn ankle ligament in Friday's practice, but it didn't happen. He'll play on passing downs at best against New Orleans. Meanwhile, CB Jerraud Powers (questionable, foot) was limited in the workout. Reggie Wayne (knee) was limited, but SI.com's Peter King reports he's in no apparent danger of missing the Super Bowl.

Dwight Freeney plans to test his injured right ankle in Friday's practice.
Freeney says of the injury that it's "starting to look more like an ankle now." The progress, even if slight, is encouraging news for his chances of playing. Still, he's likely to be limited to a third-down role with Raheem Brock playing the early downs.
