Panthers placed LB Landon Johnson (knee sprain) on season-ending injured reserve.
Johnson is the second Panthers' starting WLB lost to injured reserve in three weeks. Dan Connor, last year's third-round pick, is the favorite to take over for Johnson, though he's spent much of his time with the Panthers practicing inside. James Anderson is also a candidate.

Panthers WLB Landon Johnson has a knee sprain but doesn't need surgery, according to coach John Fox.
Johnson was injured in the fourth quarter of Thursday's loss to the Dolphins. It's remarkably yet another injury to a Panthers' front seven that has been ravaged this season. Johnson was already filling in for Thomas Davis (injured reserve, knee).

Panthers WLB Landon Johnson left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and did not return.
Johnson and Nail Diggs were prime culprits in a Panthers defense that struggled to tackle all night. His injury could open the door to more playing for Dan Connor, which may actually help the Panthers' run defense.

Landon Johnson will take over as the Panthers' starting weak-side linebacker following Thomas Davis' ACL tear.
Johnson, a rangy linebacker, has always been a productive tackler and is worth adding in most IDP leagues. Carolina's Cover 2 scheme flows ball carriers to the weak side, and Johnson will likely be a three-down linebacker.

James Anderson started in place of Na'il Diggs (ribs) Monday night.
Anderson got the nod over Landon Johnson and finished with three tackles. It wasn't a surprise that the Cowboys ran all over the Panthers' ravaged defensive front. Diggs' status for Week 5 is unknown.

Panthers are reworking LB Landon Johnson's contract to ensure that he stays with the team one more season.
Johnson was a candidate to be released, but the contract tinkering will save the same amount against the cap. Unable to beat out Nail Diggs for the starting job, Johnson recorded just one tackle as a free agent bust last season.
