Scott Lauber of the News Journal hears that the Phillies are interested in re-signing Pedro Martinez.
No surprise, the major hurdle is money. According to Lauber, Martinez wants to pitch a full season for $5 million or more. Martinez, 38, was 5-1 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in nine starts with the Phillies last season and logged important innings during the team's World Series run. Martinez is still an artist on the mound, but hasn't managed more than 132 2/3 frames since the 2005 season.

A Mets official has denied an ESPN.com report that the club is looking into bringing back free agent starter Pedro Martinez.
Pedro is seeking a salary of over $7.5 million in 2010 and the Mets are rightfully unwilling to fork over that kind of cash. He compiled a 5-1 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in nine starts with the Phillies this season but just turned 38. The Mets are currently focused on grabbing a starting catcher -- namely Bengie Molina -- and may later target a starter like Joel Pineiro.

According to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com, the Mets have looked into bringing back starter Pedro Martinez.
Martinez, however, reportedly wants more money than Brad Penny received from the Cardinals -- one-year, $7.5 million -- and the Mets aren't likely to meet those demands. According to the report, the Mets are zoned in on a group of starters that includes Joel Pineiro, Doug Davis and Jon Garland.

According to Mike Silverman of the Boston Herald, free agent right-hander Pedro Martinez wants to pitch a full season in 2010.
According to Silverman, Martinez will "not voluntarily" repeat a short season similar to 2009. This echoes what Martinez's agent Fern Cuza told FOXSports.com last month. Martinez, 38, joined the Phillies in late July, compiling a 5-1 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in nine starts. He also tossed three starts in the postseason, including two during the World Series. Martinez is sure to drum up some interest this winter, but due to concerns about his durability, he'll likely have to accept another incentive-laden contract.

Pedro Martinez's agent, Fern Cuza, told FOXSports.com Monday that his client intends to pitch a full season in 2010.
Martinez joined up with the Phillies in late July of 2009 and compiled a 5-1 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in nine starts. He also made three postseason starts. The 38-year-old hasn't thrown more than 110 innings since 2006, but is still likely to draw interest as a low-risk, high-reward veteran hurler. It wouldn't be shocking to see him back in Philadelphia.

 Pedro Martinez-S - Phillies Nov. 4 - 11:51 pm et

Pedro Martinez allowed four runs over four innings as the Phillies lost the World Series to the Yankees in six games.
Is this the way it ends for Martinez? Let's hope not. Though he was on regular rest, Martinez didn't have his patented command, throwing only 46 of 77 pitches for strikes. Hideki Matsui played his worst enemy again, driving in all four of the runs he was charged with. It would have been awful hard to take the ball from the future Hall of Famer, but Charlie Manuel is fair game to be second-guessed for letting Martinez pitch to Matsui in the third inning.
