Chad Campbell carded a bogey-free, 6-under-par 31-33=64 in the second round of the Sony Open.
Campbell is 8-under through two rounds and shares the clubhouse lead with Robert Allenby. The Texan has hit 19 (of 28) fairways and 30 GIR, giving him ample looks at birdies of which he has 11. On paper, Campbell's overall game makes him a contender anywhere where ball-striking is at a premium, so start with confidence this weekend.

It was announce today that the Viking Classic is canceled this year due to unplayable conditions.
Heavy rains hit the area throughout the month of October, and due to the nature of the soil in the area, the water had nowhere to go. The tournament will not be rescheduled and there will be no prize money awarded. It marks the first time an event was totally canceled due to playing conditions since the 1996 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Of course, this comes as a heavy blow to the tournament and to those golfers who are hoping make enough earnings to finish in the Top 125, which would give them full playing privileges next season.

The start of the Viking Classic has been pushed back to Saturday morning.
Tour Officials postponed the Friday start back by three hours due to the wet conditions before they were forced to move the start to Saturday morning. The last time this happened on the Tour was at the 2005 Bell South Classic and the event was reduced to 54 holes. There is no indication yet that the Viking Classic will be shortened.

The opening round of the Viking Classic has been postponed until Friday.
Heavy rains hit the saturated Annadale Golf Club last night and the PGA Tour postponed the original start of the tournament out to 10:20 CDT this morning, but despite the efforts of the ground crew to get the course into playing shape, the event was postponed until Friday as more rains moved into the area. The forecast for the Friday start is currently not favorable, because the weatherman is calling for an 80 percent chance of rain.

Chad Campbell carded a final round of 2-under-par 69 and finished in a tie for second place after a three-way playoff at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Campbell converted a seven-foot birdie at the par-5 16th hole to tie for the lead and to eventually to earn a spot in a three-way playoff with Martin Laird and George McNeill. All of the players in the playoff parred the first hole, but Campbell drove his tee shot on the par-3 second hole over the green. He had a nice recovery shot, but then he missed the short par-putt to continue. The playoff was the first for Campbell since his playoff loss at this year's Masters and it will be interesting to see how he rebounds from today's loss. Campbell currently is scheduled to play in next week's Frys.com Open.

Chad Campbell posted a third round of 4-under-par 67 and shares the lead with Scott Piercy at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Campbell played a steady round on the front nine and made the turn at 1-under-par. The back nine saw him chip-in at the 12th hole for an eagle and it looked like he might pull away from the field after birdies at the 13th and 15th holes, but a poor approach at the easy par-5 16th led to a double-bogey that dropped him from the lead. He did rebound on the final hole with a birdie that pulled him into a share of the lead. On Sunday, Campbell will be looking for his fifth career championship on the PGA Tour and his first since the 2007 Viking Classic.
