It was announce today that the Viking Classic is canceled this year due to unplayable conditions.
Heavy rains hit the area throughout the month of October, and due to the nature of the soil in the area, the water had nowhere to go. The tournament will not be rescheduled and there will be no prize money awarded. It marks the first time an event was totally canceled due to playing conditions since the 1996 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Of course, this comes as a heavy blow to the tournament and to those golfers who are hoping make enough earnings to finish in the Top 125, which would give them full playing privileges next season.
