Colts president Bill Polian said that Bob Sanders (injured reserve, biceps) will be back next season as long as Sanders' recovery goes well.
Polian called all of Sanders' injuries bad luck and said the strong safety was playing at an elite level before going down. Still, considering how well the Colts' secondary has played without Sanders and his monster contract that runs through 2012, don't be surprised if they shop or eventually cut him.

Colts placed SS Bob Sanders on injured reserve with a torn left biceps, ending his season.
His season ends with three tackles and a pick in just two appearances. Beat reporter Philip B. Wilson speculates that the Colts will cut their losses with Sanders in the offseason to free up salary. 29 in February, Sanders is scheduled to make $2.275 million in 2010. The 2007 Defensive POY has played in just 27 of a possible 64 games over the last four seasons.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Colts SS Bob Sanders is done for the season after being diagnosed with a torn biceps tendon.
The tear was discovered while Dr. James Andrews performed what likely was initially only intended to be a "scope" on Sanders' elbow. The loss vaults Melvin Bullitt into the starting lineup full time. Bullitt is one of the top backup safeties in the game, but Sanders is a better playmaker. The Colts are still lucky to have terrific depth and an outstanding scheme in the back end.

Colts SS Bob Sanders will undergo surgery to repair an injury to his left elbow.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Sanders will miss "an undetermined amount of time." The Colts are used to playing without Sanders by now, and Melvin Bullitt has played well in his absence. With Marlin Jackson (ACL) out for the season and Kelvin Hayden (knee) out four weeks, though, Indy is suddenly short-handed in the secondary.

Colts SS Bob Sanders visited Dr. James Andrew Thursday to gauge the severity of his recent elbow injury.
Sanders is still awaiting word from Dr. Andrews, though he seems unlikely to play this week after missing practice. With Marlin Jackson (torn ACL) out and Kelvin Hayden (knee) questionable, the Colts' secondary is scrambling for bodies once again. Sunday's game against the Texans threatens to be a shootout.

Colts SS Bob Sanders missed Wednesday's practice with an elbow injury.
Well, at least it's not Sanders' knee. There's no word yet on the severity of the injury, although Sanders did say on Monday that he came out of his 2009 debut last week "OK." This is the first we've heard of an elbow problem.
