 Brandon Jacobs-RB- GiantsFeb. 5 - 2:27 pm et
Brandon Jacobs revealed Friday that he injured his knee in the Giants' 2009 opener and played through it for the entire year.
He had the knee scoped last month. This likely explains the 27-year-old's severe decline in production, and perhaps his surprisingly low usage after GM Jerry Reese promised last offseason that Jacobs would be the team's clear featured back. Consider Jacobs a decent buy-low in keeper leagues.

 Brandon Jacobs-RB - Giants Jan. 22 - 2:20 pm et

Brandon Jacobs' arthroscopic knee surgery "went well," according to WFAN Giants beat reporter Paul Dottino.
It repaired a torn meniscus in his left knee. The procedure was routine, so Jacobs could be back as soon as spring minicamp. We can't blame Jacobs' disappointing '09 campaign on the knee because he ran without purpose before the injury. The 27-year-old could still offer value in 2010 fantasy drafts.

According to beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, it's "obviously time" to break up the Giants offensive line this offseason.
Brandon Jacobs spent the season hesitating while looking for holes in the middle of line, which serves as a useful reminder that bigger backs are more dependent on their blocking. Change up front likely starts in the middle, with veteran guard Rich Seubert moving into a reserve role.

Giants placed Brandon Jacobs (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
We already knew Jacobs was out for the year. This move just frees up a roster spot for Week 17.

 Brandon Jacobs-RB - Giants Dec. 30 - 11:08 am et

Brandon Jacobs is out for Week 17 and will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee next week.
Ahmad Bradshaw will carry the load against the Vikings, with Danny Ware and Gartrell Johnson serving as change-of-pace options. Jacobs' season ends fittingly with a thud. He looked slow and plodding while never topping 100 yards and averaging a miserable 3.7 yards per carry. He'll finish outside of the top-30 fantasy running backs in non-PPR leagues, which is a huge disappointment. Jacobs will likely return as the Giants' lead back in 2010, but his long-term outlook has taken a big hit.

 Brandon Jacobs-RB - Giants Dec. 28 - 3:05 pm et

Coach Tom Coughlin confirmed Monday that Brandon Jacobs' knee is "sore and swollen" after it forced him out of the Giants' Week 16 loss to Carolina.
The injury doesn't appear to be serious, but definitely will threaten Jacobs' status for the Giants' season finale. Jacobs had just one yard on six carries in Sunday's blowout defeat. If he can't play, Ahmad Bradshaw will likely start at Minnesota with Danny Ware and Gartrell Johnson mixing in.
